Abstract

MSMEs play a vital role in the regional economy, but still face challenges in financial recording, digital literacy, and access to financing. This community service program aims to improve MSME capacity through the implementation of the SI APIK application. Activities include outreach, training, mentoring, and evaluation, involving MSMEs in Balikpapan City. The implementation method consists of five stages: outreach, training, mentoring, evaluation, and the development of a sustainability plan. A total of 10 MSMEs in Balikpapan City participated in this program, with a focus on improving digital financial literacy and consistent business transaction recording. Evaluation was conducted through direct observation, questionnaires, and analysis of application usage consistency. The questionnaire results showed that 90% of participants understood the training material, while after the mentoring phase, there was a 70% increase in application-based financial recording practices. This demonstrates that the use of technology can overcome the limited understanding of accounting in MSMEs while encouraging regularity in financial recording. Furthermore, the established success indicators, such as recording financial transactions at a minimum of 80%, participants' ability to operate the application independently up to 90%, preparation of monthly financial reports, and the formation of internal trainers, are starting to be achieved. Thus, the implementation of SI APIK not only provides practical benefits for MSMEs but also supports sustainable development goals by continuously increasing the capacity of small businesses.

Abstract

Atlet muda merupakan salah satu kelompok rentan dehidrasi, dehidrasi merupakan permasalahan klasik dan sering tidak disadari. Dampak dari dehidrasi pada atlet menyebabkan kelelahan, heat stroke, penurunan koordinasi, keseimbangan tubuh dan fokus hingga dapat menyebabkan cedera. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan atlet muda tentang pencegahan dan penanganan dehidrasi dengan konsep green hydration serta pemantauan status hidrasi. Lebih jauh meningkatkan kesehatan dan performa atlet SKO. Kegiatan pengabdian ini terdiri dari rangkaian kegiatan yang terdiri dari edukasi dan pelatihan dengan pre-test dan post-test, penerapan IPTEKS, pendampingan dan evaluasi serta keberlanjutan program. Sebanyak 23 peserta terlibat dalam kegiatan ini. Edukasi kesehatan menggunakan metode ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan meskipun tidak signifikan, terdapat perbedaan pengetahuan peserta edukasi kesehatan tentang pencegahan dan penanganan dehidrasi dengan konsep “green hydration” sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan edukasi dan pelatihan (t hit < t tabel). Peningkatan pengetahuan hidrasi peserta kegiatan dalam kategori sedang (Rerata N-Gain = 0,67), sedangkan secara khusus untuk konsep green hydration juga dalam kategori sedang (rerata N-Gain = 0.52). Komunikasi yang intensif dengan mitra penting untuk menjaga komitmen keberlanjutan program ini yang pada akhirnya terwujud atlet yang terhidrasi optimal, sehat, berprestasi serta mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has opened significant opportunities to enhance human resource capacity, including in social institutions such as orphanages and foundations for the underprivileged. However, limitations in digital literacy, digital skills, and digital entrepreneurship often become obstacles in optimizing the use of technology. This community service program aims to empower the administrators of Pondok Yatim and Dhu’afa Tanjung Barat through training in basic digital literacy, digital skills, and digital entrepreneurship. The method applied was participatory training, carried out in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the program lead to several conclusions: first, the implementation of digital empowerment through training in literacy, skills, and digital entrepreneurship was successfully conducted for the administrators of Pondok Yatim & Dhu’afa Tanjung Barat; second, based on program evaluation, the average N-Gain Score was 0.796 or 79.64%, categorized as high, indicating that participants’ competencies increased optimally after the training. Furthermore, a satisfaction survey of the participants showed an average score of 96%, reflecting that this digital empowerment program was highly satisfying and met their expectations. Thus, the training program not only contributes to individual capacity-building but also supports the sustainability of the institution in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

This community service activity is motivated by the importance of improving elementary school teachers' competencies in designing differentiated learning, given the challenges faced in meeting the diverse needs of students. In Tanantovea District, many teachers do not fully understand the concept and application of effective differentiated learning. The purpose of this activity is to improve teachers' skills in designing and implementing differentiated learning through a learning community approach. Research focused on quantitative aspects aims to provide a systematic and factual overview of the factors, characteristics, and relationships between phenomena. Qualitative research is viewed as a process of exploring and strengthening predictions about phenomena based on field data. Following this activity, there was a significant increase in teachers' understanding and skills in designing differentiated learning. Teachers demonstrated improved skills in adapting teaching materials to the diverse needs of students in differentiated lesson plans using word walls. Furthermore, the former learning community strengthened collaboration among teachers and enabled them to share experiences and solutions to challenges. Post-test results indicated an increase in teachers' practical abilities in implementing more interactive and relevant differentiated learning techniques. This activity successfully improved elementary school teachers' competency in designing differentiated learning through a learning community approach, which has proven effective in supporting teacher professional development.

Abstract

High school graduates need to have practical skills, especially in tax accounting, due to changes in the world of work. Many students are still confused about proper financial record-keeping and tax administration. Because of this situation, they are not prepared to meet the skill requirements needed by the industry. Therefore, SMAN 1 Kopo needs tax accounting training to provide students with relevant and practical skills. The community service activity "Tax Accounting Training for Entering the World of Work at SMAN 1 Kopo" aims to enhance students' knowledge and skills in tax accounting in accordance with the needs of the workforce. This activity began with an interactive seminar on the basics of taxation. Then, participants received hands-on training with simulations of simple accounting record-keeping, filling out tax returns, and using the e-filing application. To enhance their understanding, participants also engaged in group discussions and case studies. Pre-tests and post-tests were used to assess the students. The activity results showed that the students understood tax accounting better. A 45% increase in concept mastery occurred, from 25% on the pre-test to 70% on the post-test. This increase indicates that the practice-based learning and case study approach used during the training were highly effective. Students also became more confident in completing transaction journals and SPT simulations. This program successfully met its main objective, which was to prepare students from SMAN 1 Kopo to work with additional skills in tax accounting. This indicates that the socialisation and practical training methods successfully equipped students with tax accounting skills while also raising awareness of the importance of tax compliance.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and awareness of oil palm farmers regarding the crucial role of the pollinating weevil Elaeidobius kamerunicus in supporting the natural and sustainable increase of oil palm fruit productivity. Currently, the low productivity of smallholder oil palm farms is generally caused by suboptimal pollination processes, a lack of farmer understanding of the biology and life cycle of pollinating insects, and the limited application of environmentally friendly technologies. The implementation methods of this service included counseling, interactive discussions, and field demonstrations on the identification, conservation, and utilization strategies of E. kamerunicus in oil palm plantations. The activity results showed an increase in farmer knowledge by 76.92% (based on pre-test and post-test), improved farmer skills in recognizing and preserving the habitat of the pollinating weevil, and the growth of collective awareness to reduce the use of pesticides that potentially harm pollinator insect populations. The long-term impact of this program is expected to increase oil palm fruit productivity, strengthen the economic resilience of farmers, and support the realization of more environmentally friendly and sustainable oil palm cultivation practices. Thus, this education and empowerment activity makes a real contribution to improving the welfare of oil palm farming communities while preserving the plantation agroecosystem.

Abstract

Coding is a 21st-century skill that develops students’ computational, logical, and creative thinking abilities. However, at the elementary school level, coding-based learning is rarely implemented due to limited digital facilities and teachers’ lack of experience in integrating such activities into classroom practice. Through the Community Service Program (PKM) titled “Smart Digital Math: Introducing Coding to Enhance Computational Thinking Skills of Elementary Students at SD Bawang Tikar”, the implementing team introduced basic coding concepts without using digital devices. This program aimed to improve students’ logical thinking skills and interest in learning mathematics through engaging and interactive activities. The implementation method consisted of four stages: planning, implementation, mentoring, and evaluation. The learning media included Student Worksheets (LKPD) and logic-based educational games designed according to the characteristics of elementary students. The results showed that students became more enthusiastic, active, and motivated during the learning process. Teachers also gained new insights into developing creative and contextual teaching methods that can be applied without relying on digital technology. This program successfully fostered early computational thinking skills and enriched mathematics learning with a more enjoyable experience.

Abstract

Patchouli oil and citronella oil are Aceh’s leading commodities that produce essential oils with various benefits, including natural antibacterial properties. However, their utilization in household products remains limited, while most communities still rely on chemically based floor cleaners at relatively high prices. In response to this potential, a community service program was conducted in Pango Deah Village by empowering beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (PKH) to innovate in producing antibacterial floor cleaning soap based on patchouli and citronella oils. The activities included socialization on household hygiene, technical training on soap production, hands-on practice through a learning-by-doing approach, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test assessments. The evaluation results showed an increase in the average score from 78.50% to 99.00% after the training, indicating a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and practical skills. All participants (100%) expressed high satisfaction with the content, methods, and overall benefits of the program. The resulting floor cleaning soap exhibited a distinctive aroma of patchouli and citronella, as well as good product stability, making it a promising environmentally friendly household product with market potential. Participants’ enthusiasm was demonstrated by their intention to further develop the product as a home-based business. This program is expected to enhance community skills, promote economic independence, and encourage the sustainable utilization of local resources.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) contribute significantly to the national economy but continue to face limitations in digital literacy, marketing communication strategies, and brand consistency. Jambuku MSME in Gemplakan Atas Village is a community-based enterprise focusing on guava-based products with promising economic potential, yet its market reach remains limited due to the lack of digital adoption. This community service program aimed to enhance partner capacity through training in digital marketing, product photography and videography, digital content production, professional content creation, and the utilization of a business profile website. The method included initial observation, program planning, five training sessions, technical assistance, and evaluation using pre-test, post-test, and field monitoring. Results indicated an average improvement of 35% in participants’ understanding, with the highest gain observed in digital marketing and branding. Outputs included improved visual communication quality, consistent content publication, and the use of a website as a digital product catalog. Overall, the program demonstrates that integrated digitalization is an effective strategy for empowering MSMEs to increase competitiveness and expand market access.

Abstract

North Maluku is an archipelagic province located in eastern Indonesia. However, the majority of its population lives on small islands surrounding the island of Halmahera. One of the small islands with a significant population concentration is Hiri Island. Similar to the communities on Ternate Island and other small islands in North Maluku Province, the people here also engage in land conversion activities, transforming forest land into agricultural land as one form of adaptation. This community service activity was carried out using a collaborative and participatory approach, involving various stakeholders such as academics from Unkhair, KUPS Bukumanyeku, KPH Ternate Tidore, and BPDAS Akemalamo. The stages carried out were socialization, training, and evaluation of activities. The ecotourism socialization activity went well. Through the FGD (Focus Group Discussion) model, Hiri Island has ecotourism destinations such as beaches, mountains, and culture. Additionally, the island also faces challenges for further development, including the Ternate port, accommodations, and transportation. The presence of the KUPS Bukumanyeku organization is a significant asset for optimizing ecotourism on the island. Therefore, to address these challenges, collaboration among relevant stakeholders, particularly the Ternate City Government and the North Maluku Provincial Government, is required.
