Abstract

Indonesia is a major producer of swallow nests with high export value, but constructing swallow houses remains challenging due to biological and technical complexities. This study aimed to develop a more efficient construction schedule using the Critical Path Method (CPM). CPM was chosen to identify activity paths that directly influenced project duration, thereby minimizing delay risks. A quantitative approach was used through a case study of a four-storey swallow house project in Batua Village, Kutai Kartanegara. Data were collected via observation, interviews, and technical documentation, and analyzed using Microsoft Project to determine critical paths and estimated durations. The analysis revealed that out of 42 activities, several were on the critical path with zero slack. By focusing on these critical activities, the project duration was reduced from the original 220 calendar days to 184 days. This demonstrated that CPM effectively increased scheduling efficiency by aligning with both the biological and technical requirements of swallow nest construction. The findings provided valuable insights for swallow house developers to implement more structured and efficient planning, while also encouraging integration between civil and ecological engineering in specialized construction practices

Abstract

Employee job satisfaction is a critical factor influencing organizational performance and effectiveness, particularly in public sector institutions such as the Civil Service Police Unit. A positive work environment and career development opportunities are known to enhance employee engagement, motivation, and productivity, while workload has been identified as a potential stressor that can undermine job satisfaction. This study investigates the effects of the work environment, career development, and workload on the job satisfaction of employees at the Civil Service Police Unit in Barito Kuala Regency. The study involved a sample of 45 employees, and data were analyzed to assess the relationships between these variables. The findings reveal that both the work environment and career development have a positive and significant impact on job satisfaction. In contrast, workload does not have a significant effect on job satisfaction. These results suggest that fostering a supportive and well-structured work environment, along with offering opportunities for career development, can significantly enhance employee satisfaction and contribute to organizational success. Meanwhile, workload management alone may not be a key determinant of job satisfaction in this context, highlighting the need for a more holistic approach to employee well-being. These insights can inform human resource policies and management strategies aimed at improving job satisfaction and optimizing employee performance in public service agencies

Abstract

Delays in project execution are one of the main challenges that can significantly affect the cost and quality of the work results. This study aims to evaluate the time efficiency of the construction project of a two-story shop house on Jl. Pasundan, Samarinda by applying the Critical Path Method (CPM). This method is used to identify the critical path of the project, which is a series of activities that determine the shortest completion time of the project and have no time slack (float). This study applies a quantitative descriptive approach through case study methods, relying on primary data from interviews and field observations as well as secondary data in the form of project documents. The analysis shows that the project has a critical path in the order of activities A → B → C → D → E → F → G → H → L → M → N → O → P → Q, with a total working time of 108 days. Each activity on the critical path has a total float of zero, indicating that delays in these activities will directly affect the entire project schedule. The use of the CPM method in this project has proven successful in providing a comprehensive picture of time control and can serve as a basis for decision-making in medium-sized construction project management

Abstract

Fraud represents a critical threat to organizational integrity, particularly within state-owned enterprises in Indonesia. This study aims to examine the influence of whistleblowing systems and internal audit on fraud prevention in PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia. Employing a quantitative approach with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), the research evaluates the relationships of whistleblowing and internal audit to fraud prevention. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire and validated through reliability and validity tests. The findings reveal that whistleblowing systems and internal audit have significant positive effects on fraud prevention, with internal audit showing a stronger influence (β = 0.594; p < 0.001) compared to whistleblowing (β = 0.335; p < 0.001). The structural model explains 75.2% of the variance in fraud prevention outcomes. Dominant indicators were identified: accessibility of reporting channels (whistleblowing), compliance with audit international standards (internal audit), and consistent enforcement of ethical sanctions (fraud prevention). The study concludes that integrating effective whistleblowing mechanisms and high-quality internal audits is essential to strengthening fraud prevention strategies. These mechanisms must be supported by a governance environment that emphasizes ethical enforcement, transparency, and accountability. Practical implications are offered for public enterprises seeking to minimize fraud risk through internal governance reform

Abstract

This study examines strategies to strengthen the self-reliance of smallholder coffee farmers in the Gayo Highlands, focusing on Bener Meriah and Central Aceh Regencies, which are recognized centers of Gayo Arabica coffee production. A strategic analysis approach was applied using the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) matrices to assess farmers’ internal strengths and weaknesses alongside external opportunities and threats. The IFE analysis produced a total score of 2.37, indicating a moderate level of internal capacity, driven by long experience in coffee cultivation, strong social cohesion, and favorable agro-climatic conditions. In contrast, the EFE score of 1.98 reflects a relatively weak ability to respond to external dynamics, including global price fluctuations, climate change impacts, and limited market access. Integrating these results into the Internal–External (IE) Matrix places smallholder coffee farmers in Quadrant VI, corresponding to a “Hold and Maintain” strategic posture. This position suggests that empowerment efforts should consolidate existing strengths while addressing vulnerabilities to external pressures. Recommended strategies include upgrading post-harvest technology, expanding direct market access, improving cooperative management, and strengthening climate resilience—steps expected to support sustainable coffee production, reduce dependence on intermediaries, and enhance the competitiveness of Gayo coffee in an increasingly dynamic global market.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and compare the financial performance of pharmaceutical companies in Indonesia in the post-COVID-19 pandemic period. This study is based on the phenomenon of increasing demand for pharmaceutical products during the pandemic, which significantly affected the company's revenue structure, profitability, and efficiency. With the end of the global health crisis, it is important to understand how the financial performance of pharmaceutical companies has changed and whether there have been adjustments to their business strategies in facing the new normal. The research method uses a quantitative approach with financial ratio analysis covering liquidity, profitability, solvency, and activity. Data are taken from the annual financial reports of pharmaceutical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2019–2023, representing the periods before, during, and after the pandemic. Comparative analysis was conducted using different tests (paired sample t-test and ANOVA) to assess the significance of changes in performance between periods. The results show that in general, pharmaceutical companies experienced a significant increase in financial performance during the pandemic, particularly in profitability ratios. However, after the pandemic ended, there was a decline in revenue and profit margins due to the decline in demand for emergency health products. Nevertheless, several companies were able to maintain positive performance through product diversification and healthcare service innovation. These findings are relevant for corporate management, investors, and policymakers in understanding the dynamics of the pharmaceutical industry in the post-pandemic era and the adaptation strategies needed to maintain business sustainability amid fluctuating healthcare sector demand.
