Abstract

This article aims to investigate the impact of Project-Based Learning (PBL) on the speaking performance and skills of second-semester students in the English Study Program at Universitas Ma’arif Lampung. PBL was employed in this study to address issues encountered in speaking classes. A pre-test was administered to 18 students from the English Study Program as part of the research conducted in March 2024. The analysis of the pre-test revealed a mean score of 54.89, with a standard deviation of 7.738 and a sample size of 18, alongside a minimum score of 44 and a maximum score of 64. The post-test results indicated an increase in the average score of students taught using PBL, suggesting a significant enhancement in both their performance and speaking skills attributable to the project-based learning approach. This underscores the efficacy of this method in yielding notable differences between pre-test and post-test results. The implementation of PBL in speaking instruction encompasses several phases, including the formulation of a project strategy, the establishment of a timeline, monitoring the progress of students and the project, analysing outcomes, and evaluating the overall experience.

Abstract

The article aims to understand the differences between asteroids and meteorites, identify the causes of meteor formation, and analyze the mechanisms by which Earth protects itself from collisions with extraterrestrial objects. Furthermore, the research explores the phenomenon of shooting stars from both a scientific perspective and the teachings of the Quran. This study employs a literature review method with a qualitative descriptive approach, in which data are collected from various sources, including previous research, books, and the Quran. The data analysis process involves filtering relevant information according to the research theme, presenting it narratively, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that asteroids and meteorites are distinct celestial bodies in terms of their location and size. Meteoroids are more likely to enter Earth's atmosphere, where friction causes partial or complete combustion, producing the luminous effect known as meteors or shooting stars. From a theological perspective, meteors are associated with arrows used to prevent jinn from eavesdropping on divine matters. Therefore, it is inappropriate to associate God with this natural phenomenon by requesting or invoking shooting stars. In a religious context, humans are expected to follow divine commandments by worshiping God alone. Consequently, integrating the values of faith and devotion into science education is essential, as scientific knowledge and the teachings of the Quran have never been proven to be in conflict.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education plays a crucial role in shaping students' morals and character, particularly in the face of the challenges posed by globalization. As a discipline centered on cultivating ethical values, it serves as a fundamental instrument for instilling Islamic character principles in students. This study aims to develop an Islamic Religious Education learning framework that integrates Islamic character values within an inclusive school setting, with an emphasis on adaptive and effective implementation strategies. Employing a qualitative approach, this research utilizes a case study method conducted at SMP IT Manbaul Ulum. Data collection involved in-depth interviews with school principals and teachers, as well as classroom observations. The findings indicate that while teachers strive to integrate Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, and tolerance into their instruction, they face significant challenges due to limited resources and inadequate training. To accommodate student diversity, teachers employ strategies such as prophetic storytelling and group discussions; however, they report a lack of sufficient professional development in managing inclusive classrooms effectively. Furthermore, the school principal underscores the need for specialized training programs to enhance teachers' competencies in integrating Islamic values within an inclusive educational framework. The implications of this study highlight the necessity of enhancing teacher training, diversifying educational resources, and developing accessible learning media to ensure that Islamic values-based education is effective and inclusive for all students, including those with special needs.

Abstract

Education based on Islamic values ​​has an important role in shaping students' character based on religious principles. This research aims to analyze the implementation of educational management based on Islamic values ​​and its influence on the formation of student character at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Tarbiyatul Athfal. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with school principals, teachers and students as well as observations of school activities, which were then analyzed thematically. The research results show that the implementation of educational management based on Islamic values ​​at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Tarbiyatul Athfal plays a significant role in forming student character. Learning that integrates Islamic values ​​such as honesty, discipline and responsibility has succeeded in encouraging students to be more active and responsible in teaching and learning activities and in everyday life. Religious programs, such as congregational prayers and Islamic studies, are an important part of supporting student character formation. The implication of this research is the need for an educational management model based on Islamic values ​​to support the formation of better student character. In this way, madrasas can create an environment that supports not only academic development, but also strong moral character.

Abstract

Inclusive education in the contemporary era presents both challenges and opportunities to establish a just and equitable educational framework for all students, devoid of discrimination. The objective of this research is to analyse the incorporation of Islamic values within inclusive education, drawing upon Muhammad Abduh's perspectives on modern education. This study employs a qualitative methodology, utilising a literature review approach to delve into Abduh's ideas through an examination of his works and relevant literature pertaining to Islamic education. The findings indicate that Abduh advocates for an educational paradigm grounded in universal Islamic values, such as justice, tolerance, and rahmatan lil 'alamin, which resonate with the principles of inclusive education. He underscores the necessity of harmonising religious teachings with scientific inquiry, as well as the implementation of flexible pedagogical methods to cater to the diverse needs of students. These values are deemed capable of fostering an adaptive learning environment and facilitating the inclusion of all children, including those with special needs. The implications of this research suggest that the integration of Islamic values into inclusive education may serve as an effective strategy in addressing global challenges, whilst also nurturing a generation equipped with both intellectual and moral acumen. Consequently, Muhammad Abduh's insights significantly contribute to the realisation of an education system that is inclusive, humanistic, and attuned to the demands of contemporary society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of image media in improving student learning outcomes in Pancasila Education subjects in class IIA MI NU Metro. The main problem raised is the low student learning outcomes due to less varied learning methods and minimal use of media that are in accordance with student characteristics. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were class IIA students consisting of 26 students. The results of the study showed that the use of image media made a real contribution to improving conceptual understanding, student activeness in learning, and higher learning motivation. Images that are relevant to the teaching material help students connect new knowledge with their concrete experiences. The main contribution of this study is to provide an empirical picture of the effectiveness of visual media in learning Pancasila Education at the elementary level, especially for students with concrete cognitive abilities. This study also shows the importance of the role of teachers in selecting and designing appropriate media so that the learning process becomes more meaningful and enjoyable.

Abstract

This study investigates the contemporary relevance of Ibn Sina’s philosophical thought within Islamic education, focusing on his epistemological, ethical, and ontological perspectives. Through a literature-based qualitative approach, the research analyzes Ibn Sina’s educational concepts and their potential to address enduring challenges in the current Islamic education system. The findings reveal that his integrative approach combining religious and rational sciences offers a compelling solution to the long-standing dichotomy between traditional and modern knowledge paradigms. Moreover, his emphasis on ethical education and character formation underscores the importance of moral development alongside intellectual growth. Despite obstacles such as ideological resistance, limited institutional resources, and the gap between classical and modern contexts, the study identifies promising opportunities for curriculum reform through interdisciplinary approaches and technological integration. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic educational reform by presenting Ibn Sina’s philosophical framework as a strategic model for developing a more holistic, adaptive, and future-oriented system. It highlights how classical Islamic thought can be reactualized to enhance the intellectual, moral, and practical dimensions of education in the modern era, thus bridging tradition with contemporary pedagogical needs.

Abstract

This This study aims to investigate the effect of integrating YouTube with the mind mapping method on students' English-speaking skills. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, with data collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The participants were seven students from the English Education Study Program at Zainul Hasan Genggong Islamic University who implemented the ABC (Aksi Belajar Cerdas)-based mind mapping method supported by the YouTube platform to enhance their speaking abilities. The findings indicate that the use of YouTube as a supplementary medium in the ABC-based mind mapping method has a positive impact on students’ confidence, fluency, and vocabulary acquisition in spoken English. Additionally, the method fosters greater student engagement and creativity in expressing ideas in a structured manner during classroom discussions. Nevertheless, the study also highlights the potential for distraction when students use YouTube, emphasizing the need for self-awareness and discipline to ensure its effective use for academic purposes. This study contributes to the growing body of research on digital-assisted language learning by demonstrating the effectiveness of combining YouTube with mind mapping techniques to enhance English-speaking skills. It also offers practical recommendations for managing media use in educational settings to maximize learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of cognitive theory in Arabic language learning and analyze its implications for the design, implementation, and evaluation of instruction, including its strengths and weaknesses. The method used is a literature review, examining various relevant and credible written sources. This approach is employed to gain a deeper understanding of the application of cognitive theory in the context of Arabic language learning. The analysis technique includes the processes of searching, selecting, critically evaluating, and thoroughly analyzing literature. The reliability and validity of the research are ensured through systematic and structured steps. The findings of the study show: (1) Cognitive theory supports Arabic language learning through strengthening mental processes, meaningful understanding, active participation, the use of metacognitive strategies, and the role of the teacher as a facilitator. (2) Cognitive-based learning aims to optimize students' cognitive processes through deep understanding, active participation, and the application of metacognitive strategies. Instructional design needs to be structured by considering information, context, and active language interaction. (3) The teacher and student roles are crucial in fostering collaborative interaction and using metacognitive strategies to support student understanding. (4) This theory influences the evaluation of learning through formative, authentic, understanding-based assessments and constructive feedback. (5) Its strengths encourage deep understanding and active participation, while its weaknesses overlook social and cultural aspects. Thus, this study integrates cognitive theory into Arabic language learning through meaningful understanding, active participation, metacognitive strategies, collaborative interaction, and context-based evaluation.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities in schools that are engaged in the religius field, one of which is extracurricular Islamic spirituality with the aim of not only developing students’ interests and talents but also making students who have faith and noble character. The purpose of this study was to determine how the implementation of Islamic spiritual extracurricular activities in developing students’ spiritual attitudes at SMPN 2 Tangerang selatan. With research subjects totaling 7 informants, including the Principal, PAI Teacher, Rohis extracurricular coach, and 4 students.This research is descriptive qualitative research, also data collection techniques using observasion, documentation and interview methods. The analysis technique uses data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclution drawing. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of Islamic Spiritual extracurricular activities carried out at SMPN 2 South Tangerang is based on aspects of extracurricular steps, namely starting from planning activities, then implementin activities, to evaluating the results of activities are going well.
