Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of macroeconomic conditions on investment decisions. Macroeconomic conditions such as inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, and gross domestic product are important factors that influence investor considerations in determining investment decisions. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. The informants consisted of ten students of Universitas Tjut Nyak Dhien. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that macroeconomic conditions influence investment decisions through changes in purchasing power, investment returns, risk perception, and financial planning. Inflation encourages individuals to reconsider their investment choices because rising prices reduce purchasing power and increase daily living expenses. Interest rates influence the attractiveness of saving and investment instruments, while exchange rate fluctuations increase uncertainty, particularly in investments related to foreign currencies and capital markets. Gross domestic product reflects economic activity and public income, which may influence the ability and willingness to invest. The study also shows that students tend to prioritize basic needs and emergency savings before making investment decisions. Limited income, lack of financial knowledge, and uncertainty about economic conditions become obstacles to investment. Therefore, financial literacy and understanding of macroeconomic indicators are needed to support more rational and careful investment decisions.

Abstract

This study examines the collaborative strategy implemented by the Jambi Regional Police and the Jambi Provincial Education Office to prevent online gambling among students in Jambi City, while also identifying supporting and inhibiting factors. The study employed a qualitative case-study approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving government officials, police personnel, school leaders, guidance and counseling teachers, and students at three secondary schools in Jambi City. Data were analyzed through reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation used to strengthen credibility. The analysis adopted Geoff Mulgan’s (2009) public strategy perspective, covering purpose, environment, direction, action, and learning. The findings indicate that prevention has been carried out through character education, digital literacy, legal education, school outreach, cyber patrols, website blocking, restrictions on gadget use during learning, extracurricular activities, school rules, and inter-agency coordination. The strategy is supported by coordination among institutions, school commitment, and a conducive educational environment. However, implementation remains constrained by limited supervision, uneven policy implementation, rapid changes in digital crime, easy access to gambling platforms, weak parental monitoring, and peer influence. The study concludes that prevention needs to be strengthened .through clearer operational procedures, measurable evaluation indicators, continuous digital literacy, stronger school-family cooperation, and sustainable inter-agency collaboration.

Abstract

The use of the surrounding environment as a learning resource is a strategic step to present contextual, meaningful, and fun Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning for students. This study aims to analyze teachers' strategies in optimizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource in science subjects and identify obstacles and efforts to overcome them. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with science teachers, observation of outdoor learning activities, and documentation of learning tools. The data analysis technique uses interactive models from Miles, Huberman, and Saldana which include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that teachers' strategies include three main stages: (1) planning, through mapping of science materials that are relevant to the school/community environment and the preparation of environment-based Student Worksheets (LKPD); (2) implementation, through direct observation methods, field interviews, and the use of natural materials/surrounding waste as a demonstration medium; and (3) evaluation, through performance assessment and reflection with students. Obstacles faced include limited time allocation, outdoor classroom management, and weather factors. This study concludes that optimal use of the surrounding environment is proven to improve students' understanding of concepts, science process skills, and environmental concerns.

Abstract

This study was motivated by students' low level of understanding in Pancasila Education lessons. Interview results revealed that students still struggled to comprehend Pancasila values; while most them could memorize the principles of Pancasila. However, they did not fully grasp the underlying meanings and faced difficulties connecting these values to their daily lives. This study aims to determine the effect of the Project-Based Learning model on the understanding of Pancasila values among fourth-grade students at SDN 20 Merawang. The study employed an experimental method using a pre-experimental design specifically, a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 18 fourth-grade students from SD Negeri 20 Merawang, selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was conducted via a test comprising 10 essay questions. Data analysis involved a normality test using the Shapiro-Wilk method and hypothesis testing using a Paired Sample t-Test, facilitated by IBM SPSS version 26. The results showed an average pretest score of 47.91 and an average posttest score of 82.36. The normality test indicated that the data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.116 (> 0.05) for the pretest and 0.364 (> 0.05) for the posttest. Furthermore, the hypothesis test (Paired Sample t-Test) yielded a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (< 0.05), leading to the rejection of Ho and the acceptance of Ha. Thus, it can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning model has an effect on the understanding of Pancasila values among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 20 Merawang.

Abstract

This study is grounded in the tendency of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction to remain dominated by one-way lecturing, which students often perceive as unengaging, amid the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's policy encouraging the Deep Learning approach built on three elements: mindful learning, meaningful learning, and joyful learning. This research aims to describe the implementation of joyful learning in PAI instruction, the role of PAI teachers as facilitators within that implementation, and the supporting and inhibiting factors involved at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving eight PAI teachers, eighteen students, and the vice principal for curriculum affairs as research subjects, with data collected through moderate participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman and validated through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the implementation of joyful learning at the school has not been uniformly practiced and tends to be integrated with mindful learning and meaningful learning within a single instructional sequence. The facilitative role of PAI teachers is reflected in the preparation of teaching modules, guidance of the learning process, motivation of students, provision of a safe space for asking and expressing opinions, and the use of varied instructional methods. Supporting factors for this role include the PAI Subject Teachers' Forum (MGMP) and school policies that facilitate teacher competency development, while inhibiting factors include limited pedagogical competence among some teachers, inadequate instructional technology facilities, and passive, poorly motivated student characteristics. These findings contribute theoretically and practically to the advancement of contemporary Islamic pedagogy, particularly in formulating strategies to strengthen the facilitative role of PAI teachers in the era of deep learning.

Abstract

Teacher performance is an important factor in determining the quality of the learning process and the achievement of educational goals. Improving teacher performance is determined not only by individual capabilities but also by human resource management practices in schools and teachers’ work discipline. This study aims to analyze the effects of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices and work discipline on teacher performance in public elementary schools throughout Laguboti Subdistrict, Toba Regency, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative approach with an associative research design was employed. The sample consisted of 139 teachers from 17 public elementary schools selected using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, instrument testing, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics. The results indicate that HRM practices have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a t-value of 7.275 and a significance level of <0.001. Work discipline also has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with a t-value of 4.704 and a significance level of <0.001. Simultaneously, HRM practices and work discipline have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, with an F-value of 49.186 and a significance level of <0.001. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.420 indicates that HRM practices and work discipline jointly explain 42.0% of the variance in teacher performance, while the remaining 58.0% is attributable to other factors outside the research model. These findings indicate that strengthening effective HRM practices and improving work discipline are important aspects of supporting better teacher performance in public elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of digital administration implementation and teachers’ professional competence on the performance of public elementary school teachers in Siantar Narumonda District, both partially and simultaneously. The study employed a quantitative approach with a causal research design. The population and sample consisted of 53 teachers selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination. The findings revealed that the implementation of digital administration had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (t=3.638, Sig. <0.001). Teachers’ professional competence also had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (t=4.731, Sig. <0.001). Simultaneously, both variables had a positive and significant influence on teacher performance (F=38.719, Sig. <0.001). The coefficient of determination (R^2) of 0.608 indicates that 60.8% of the variance in teacher performance is explained by digital administration implementation and teachers’ professional competence, while the remaining 39.2% is influenced by other factors beyond the scope of this study. These findings highlight the importance of optimizing digital administration and strengthening teachers’ professional competence as effective strategies for improving teacher performance in elementary schools.

Abstract

Classroom discipline is an important component of classroom management because it plays a significant role in creating an orderly, conducive, and productive learning environment. Classroom discipline problems can still be found in various forms, such as tardiness, absenteeism, inappropriate use of gadgets for learning purposes, and behaviors that disrupt the learning process. This study aims to examine the concept of classroom discipline, relevant theoretical foundations, factors influencing discipline, approaches and strategies for its implementation, as well as challenges faced by teachers in managing classroom discipline. This study employs a library research method by collecting, reviewing, and synthesizing relevant literature, particularly books and scholarly works discussing classroom management, student discipline, and behavioral management strategies. The findings indicate that classroom discipline is not merely related to rule enforcement but also constitutes an educational process that involves developing students' responsibility, awareness, and positive behavior. The implementation of discipline can be carried out through preventive approaches, positive teacher-student relationships, positive reinforcement, gradual behavior management, and restorative approaches. The effectiveness of classroom discipline is influenced by student characteristics, teacher competence, classroom and school environments, as well as family and social support. Therefore, effective classroom discipline management requires a consistent and humane approach that is adapted to students' needs.
