Abstract

Ikat weaving is one of Indonesia’s intangible cultural heritages that holds significant aesthetic, economic, and social value. Sabu Raijua Regency in East Nusa Tenggara is well known for its distinctive ikat textiles, characterized by unique motifs and a strong intergenerational transmission of weaving skills. However, modernization, competition from industrial textiles, and a decreasing interest among younger generations pose serious challenges to the continuity of this tradition. This article aims to analyze the preservation of Sabu Raijua ikat weaving as both a form of social heritage and an economic livelihood for the community. Using a qualitative, literature-based approach, the findings reveal that preservation efforts can be strengthened through cultural identity reinforcement, economic empowerment of weavers, product diversification, digital marketing, and proactive government involvement through regulations and training programs. This article further elaborates on the types of Sabu Raijua ikat textiles and their symbolic meanings.

Abstract

The Muro tradition is a manifestation of local wisdom in coastal management continuously practiced by the community of Tapobaran Village, Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. This practice is conducted through the temporary closure of specific marine areas to fishing activities based on a mutually agreed-upon customary consensus. The primary objective of this closure is to allow marine biological resources time to recover so they can develop naturally and sustainably. After the closure period concludes, the area is reopened through a customary ritual as a signal for the resumption of fishing activities. This study aims to describe the implementation stages of the Muro tradition, analyze its contribution to the balance of marine ecosystems and the improvement of the community’s economy, as well as identify the challenges in maintaining its sustainability. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method through in-depth interviews, field observations, and a review of related literature. The results indicate that the Muro tradition serves effectively as a community-based mechanism for regulating the utilization of marine resources. The temporary closure of fishing zones provides a positive impact in the form of increased marine biota populations and improved fish yields when the area is reopened. Nonetheless, the sustainability of this tradition faces obstacles, such as the intrusion of fishermen from outside the region who do not understand or comply with local customary rules, the current of globalization and modernization that is beginning to shift the perspective of the younger generation, and global climate change which renders marine conditions difficult to predict. Overall, the Muro tradition holds significant potential to be utilized as a reference in policy development.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan bangsa yang memiliki kekayaan budaya yang tinggi, tercermin dari beragam tradisi yang masih dijaga kelestariannya hingga kini. Salah satu di antaranya adalah upacara Reba dari masyarakat Ngada, Bajawa, Flores, Nusa Tenggara Timur, yang tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai kegiatan adat tahunan, tetapi juga sarat dengan nilai-nilai moral dan filosofis yang membentuk karakter masyarakatnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali makna serta nilai-nilai filosofis dalam upacara Reba, serta menjelaskan relevansinya terhadap kehidupan masyarakat modern. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan kajian pustaka (literature review), melalui analisis berbagai sumber ilmiah seperti artikel jurnal, buku, dan hasil penelitian terdahulu yang membahas Reba dari perspektif filosofis, sosial, dan moral. Analisis dilakukan dengan menelaah hasil penelitian Radho (2024) yang menyoroti konsep relasi dialogis “aku–engkau” dalam pandangan Martin Buber, dan Sie & Senda (2023) yang mengkaji nilai-nilai moral dalam pelaksanaan Reba. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa upacara Reba merepresentasikan hubungan harmonis antara manusia, leluhur, alam, dan Sang Pencipta. Nilai-nilai seperti penghormatan terhadap leluhur, gotong royong, solidaritas sosial, keseimbangan hidup, serta rasa syukur menjadi inti dari pelaksanaan tradisi ini. Secara filosofis, Reba mencerminkan kesadaran spiritual dan sosial masyarakat Ngada yang menekankan pentingnya kebersamaan dan tanggung jawab moral. Dengan demikian, pelestarian tradisi Reba tidak hanya bermakna menjaga budaya leluhur, tetapi juga mempertahankan sistem nilai dan filsafat hidup yang relevan bagi pembentukan karakter manusia modern. Reba menjadi simbol refleksi budaya dan spiritual yang dapat memperkuat identitas serta harmoni sosial masyarakat Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to examine the feasibility and practicality of the Ca-Badar (Canva Plane Figures) learning media on plane geometry material for fourth-grade elementary school students. The feasibility of the media was evaluated based on assessments from media experts and subject matter experts, while its practicality was examined based on students’ responses. The Ca-Badar media was developed by integrating the principles of Bruner’s Theory, which include the enactive, iconic, and symbolic stages. The development process employed the ADDIE model, consisting of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The Ca-Badar media contains plane geometry materials, activities for matching the characteristics of plane figures, educational videos, interactive quizzes, and a creative project in the form of constructing a house using plane figures by utilizing Canva elements. The validation results from media experts and subject matter experts indicate that the Ca-Badar media falls into the highly valid and feasible category, with an average assessment score of 94.16%. The implementation of the media with 28 fourth-grade students at SDN 5 Sindangkasih shows that Ca-Badar is practical to use through laptops and projectors and is able to encourage student engagement and understanding during the learning process. In addition, the subject matter expert assessment resulted in an average score of 81%, which confirms the feasibility of the media as a learning tool for mathematics in elementary schools. The impact of this study is the availability of a feasible and practical digital learning media that can be used by teachers as an alternative for presenting plane geometry material, as well as a reference for the development of innovative Canva-based learning media in elementary schools.

Abstract

Conventional learning often shows ineffectiveness in improving student learning outcomes on the topic of the human respiratory system in grade VIII, mainly due to low student motivation and engagement in the learning process. Therefore, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is proposed as an innovative alternative. This study aims to examine the effect of implementing the PBL model on improving student learning outcomes in grade VIII B of UPT SMP Negeri 4 Takalar. Adopting a quasi-experimental approach with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design, the study involved 26 students who were divided equally into an experimental group (13 students implementing PBL) and a control group (13 students with a conventional approach). Data collection was carried out through learning outcome tests and observations of student activities, then analyzed using a t-test. The findings revealed that the average posttest score of the experimental group reached 85.67, significantly higher than the control group at 75.84, with a p value <0.05 indicating a significant effect of PBL. The research conclusion states that PBL is effective in increasing understanding of the concept of the human respiratory system, in line with the principles of the Independent Curriculum, so it is recommended for widespread application in school environments.

Abstract

The development of science and technology (IPTEK) in the modern era has had a significant impact on human life, both positive and negative. The advancement of IPTEK is often accompanied by moral decline, spiritual crisis, and environmental damage. This article aims to analyze the Islamic Life Guidelines for Muhammadiyah Members (PHIWM) as a normative and ethical framework in responding to the development of IPTEK and environmental management. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with a literature study method from official Muhammadiyah documents, the Qur'an, hadith, and relevant scientific literature. The results show that PHIWM positions IPTEK as a strategic tool for community welfare that must be developed responsibly, based on faith and morals. In addition, environmental management is seen as a theological mandate that demands a conservative, just, and sustainable attitude. Thus, PHIWM plays a crucial role in building integration between the advancement of IPTEK, individual piety, and environmental sustainability towards the realization of a truly Islamic society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership profile of the principal and evaluate the five competencies required by the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 6 of 2018. This study was conducted at SD Athahiriyah Yapis Wamena, an elementary school located in an urban area. The research subjects consisted of several parties who have important roles in the leadership and management process of the school, namely the principal, two senior teachers, and School Program documentation. Data collection techniques in this study combined a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, direct observation, questionnaires, and documentation studies. Based on the results of observation and analysis, the principal at SD Athahiriyah Yapis Wamena demonstrates leadership based on collaboration and open communication. This leadership style is effective in building a school culture that supports innovation and teacher development. Although the principal demonstrates good competency in academic supervision, exemplary behavior, and open communication, there are shortcomings in rule enforcement and discipline management that need to be improved. The implemented innovation programs, such as literacy and digitalization, have had a positive impact on the quality of education, but need to be strengthened to ensure their sustainability. Furthermore, spiritual values ​​such as the Dhuha prayer have been implemented, but their implementation still needs to be expanded across all aspects of the school.

Abstract

This study discusses the meaning and values contained in the Ore Ana tradition of Puhu Village, East Adonara District, East Flores Regency. The Ore Ana tradition is a cultural heritage of the Lamaholot community, reflecting deep philosophical, religious, and spiritual meanings. The purpose of this research is to describe the meanings expressed in the ritual speeches and to explore the cultural and moral values they embody. The study employs a literature review method by analyzing relevant scholarly sources and previous studies on Lamaholot culture and the Ore Ana tradition. The findings reveal that the speeches in Ore Ana contain religious, spiritual, and petition meanings, as well as cultural and religious values that reflect the close relationship between humans, ancestors, and God. The Ore Ana tradition serves as a medium for preserving cultural identity and transmitting moral education for the younger generation of Lamaholot society.

Abstract

Upacara adat Takanab merupakan salah satu warisan budaya masyarakat Dawan yang berkembang di Kabupaten Timor Tengah Utara (TTU) dan mengandung nilai sosial, budaya, spiritual, serta edukatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji nilai-nilai sosial dan budaya yang terkandung dalam upacara adat Takanab serta menganalisis relevansinya dalam pembentukan karakter masyarakat di era modern. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka (literature review) dengan menelaah berbagai sumber ilmiah berupa jurnal, buku, dan dokumen adat yang berkaitan dengan tradisi Takanab. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa upacara Takanab mengandung nilai sosial berupa gotong royong, solidaritas, dan kepedulian sosial; nilai budaya dan spiritual yang menekankan keseimbangan hubungan antara manusia, alam, dan Sang Pencipta; serta nilai pendidikan yang berperan dalam pembentukan sikap disiplin, tanggung jawab, dan rasa hormat pada generasi muda. Di tengah arus modernisasi, pelestarian tradisi Takanab perlu didukung melalui integrasi nilai budaya dalam pendidikan serta peran aktif pemerintah daerah. Dengan demikian, upacara adat Takanab tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai ritual budaya, tetapi juga sebagai sarana pendidikan karakter dan penguatan identitas budaya masyarakat TTU.

Abstract

This study aims to improve fine motor skills in early childhood through weaving activities using loose part media at RA Al-Hikmah. The research method applied is descriptive qualitative, employing observation, interview, and documentation techniques for data collection. The research subjects consisted of one teacher and seven children aged 5–6 years from group B. The results revealed that weaving activities using loose part materials significantly enhance children’s hand–eye coordination, accuracy, and finger dexterity. Furthermore, this activity fostered children’s interest, creativity, and independence in learning. Therefore, the use of loose parts media proved effective in developing fine motor skills in early childhood within an engaging learning environment.
