Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of democratic values according to Bung Hatta in character education at SDN 003 Beringin Taluk, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with classroom teachers and fifth and sixth-grade students as subjects. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The results show that democratic values are applied through class deliberation, distribution of responsibilities, group collaboration, and active discussions, which foster student participation, independence, responsibility, tolerance, and respect for differences. Teacher strategies that integrate deliberation, collaboration, and autonomous decision-making are proven effective in shaping students’ democratic and participatory character. This study emphasizes that democratic education in elementary schools should be designed contextually, creatively, and sustainably, allowing Bung Hatta’s democratic values to be effectively internalized in students’ character

Abstract

This study aims to develop a division counting tool made from cardboard and straws as a mathematics learning medium for third-grade elementary school students. The background of this research is based on students’ low understanding of the concept of division and the limited use of concrete learning media in classroom instruction. The research method employed was Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE development model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects were 31 third-grade students of SDN Salem 01, Brebes Regency, consisting of a single class without a comparison group. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The results showed that the developed media achieved a very high validity level based on expert judgments. Furthermore, the field testing results indicated a significant improvement in students’ understanding of division concepts after using the developed media. Therefore, the cardboard and straw-based division counting tool is feasible and effective as an alternative mathematics learning medium in elementary schools.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology (IT) in the digital era has brought significant changes to the educational landscape, including the teaching and learning of Islamic Religious Education (IRE). This research aims to examine the forms, utilization, and impacts of IT-based Islamic educational media in supporting IRE learning. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review of relevant sources discussing interactive multimedia, instructional videos and animations, e-learning platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), and social media within the context of Islamic education. The findings indicate that the integration of IT-based media enhances the effectiveness of IRE learning by providing more interactive, contextual, and learner-centered instructional experiences that align with the characteristics of digital-native students. Interactive multimedia and instructional videos facilitate the visualization of abstract religious concepts, while e-learning platforms and AI support flexible, adaptive, and efficient learning processes. In addition, social media plays a significant role in expanding access to Islamic learning and digital da’wah. However, the use of information technology also poses potential negative impacts on students’ character development and lifestyle if not accompanied by adequate supervision and digital literacy. Therefore, the utilization of information technology in Islamic education must be guided wisely to not only improve instructional quality but also strengthen Islamic values and character formation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the Reciprocal Learning model on students’ learning outcomes in reading comprehension in class V B of UPT SPF SD Inpres Minasa Upa 1, Rappocini District. The research employed an experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design, involving a saturated sample of 17 students. Data were collected through a reading comprehension test and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including tests of normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing. The findings revealed that the students’ average pretest score of 25.59 increased significantly to 90.59 in the posttest. A Paired Sample T-test indicated a significance value of < 0.001, leading to the rejection of H0 and the acceptance of H1. These results demonstrate that the Reciprocal Learning model is effective in enhancing students’ reading comprehension skills. Therefore, the implementation of this model has a positive impact on learning outcomes and may serve as a valuable reference for elementary school teachers in developing innovative instructional strategies to improve the quality of learning.
