Abstract

This study aims to measure and improve the productivity of PT XYZ using the Marvin E. Mundel and Objective Matrix (OMAX) methods. The research was conducted through interviews and observations of the company's operations in 2023-2024. The Marvin E. Mundel method calculates the productivity index (IP) by comparing outputs (electricity sales, equipment rental, repair services, installation, government subsidies) and inputs (operations, maintenance, salaries), resulting in an initial IP of 93.516, which decreased due to a shortage of fleets and devices. The strategy of adding 2 fleets, 3 devices, and a budget increased the IP to 100.113 (up 7%). The method identified user complaints (4,203 cases) as the top priority (weight 0.78), with a productivity index of 16% in January 2024. Recommendations include optimizing complaint handling, staff training, and real-time monitoring technology.

Abstract

At PT Putra Argam Mandiri there are still product defects in every distribution process. Product defects that are often found at PT Argam are hang guards and foot rings that are peyot due to being crushed with other products during transportation and leaking bodies. The number of defective products produced on average for the last 6 months period reached 487 units. So that the Overall Equipment. Effectiveness method is needed in order to streamline the performance of the tool and be able to function as it should. That way the tool will work properly and will produce quality productsBased on the research conducted, the conclusions obtained from the results of the OEE calculation on the Filling machine PT. Putra Argam Mandiri during the period October 2024 to March 2025 resulted in an average OEE of around 86.55%.

Abstract

Kue apem kesesi mak menis is a traditional food of Pekalongan. This UMKM has been producing apem cakes for approximately 30 years. Based on the interview results, many apem Kesesi cake MSME actors eventually went bankrupt due to a decline in public interest in consuming apem kesesi cakes. They tend to be more interested in buying and consuming contemporary snacks because they are more practical, more varied, more attractive, and more hygienic. This study aims to determine the right business development strategy using the SWOT analysis method. The research data was obtained through interviews with the owner of the Apem Kesesi Mak Menis UMKM, 2 employees, and 30 consumer samples. The sample selection method uses a purposive sampling technique. The research results obtained the right business development strategy, namely the WO strategy by minimizing existing weaknesses in an effort to take advantage of existing opportunities. From this strategy, UMKM Apem Kesesi Mak Menis needs to develop products, carry out digital marketing, and establish cooperation to expand business relations.

Abstract

Machine maintenance is a critical component in the industrial and manufacturing sectors to ensure that equipment operates efficiently and has a prolonged lifespan. This study aims to explore the various types of machine maintenance implemented across different industrial sectors, along with the benefits and challenges associated with their application. Utilizing a literature review approach, the study identifies four main types of maintenance: preventive, corrective, predictive, and redesign. Each maintenance type plays a crucial role in enhancing machine performance, reducing downtime, and extending the service life of industrial equipment. Effective maintenance practices offer several advantages, including improved operational performance, reduced repair costs, and enhanced workplace safety. However, the implementation of maintenance strategies presents several challenges, such as high costs, limited availability of skilled labor, and the time required for maintenance procedures. Despite these obstacles, with the adoption of appropriate strategies, such challenges can be effectively managed, enabling companies to achieve greater operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.

Abstract

Every construction project in Indonesia is required to implement an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3), so SMK3 evaluation is crucial to ensure the safety and health of workers. This study aims to determine the level of understanding of SMK3 from the perspective of project managers and employees. The research methodology consists of direct field observation combined with questionnaires and interviews with employees and project managers. With a project management score of 83.33% and a worker score of 62.62%, the results indicate that both project management and workers are in the moderate group. This study offers ways to improve the implementation of SMK3 and conduct additional outreach regarding the importance of health and safety in the workplace.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the capacity of drainage channels in the Front Area of the Mahkota Petrol Station on Jalan Kapten Soedjono, Sambutan District, whether it is able to accommodate the surface flow discharge that occurs due to rain. The methods used include direct surveys in the field, rainfall data collection, channel geometric data, and hydrological and hydraulic analysis using rational methods and Manning equations. The results showed that some channels at the study site had a smaller capacity than the maximum runoff discharge that occurred, so it had the potential to cause local inundation and flooding. The maximum daily rainfall data for 10 years was analyzed using the distribution of Pearson Log Type III with the planned rainfall of 2 years of the 2-year re-period of 107.09 mm. The planned flood discharge (Qt) was calculated using a rational method, with a result of 1,447 m³/second (right channel) and a concentration time of 0.150 hours. The capacity of the channel with right dimensions (a: 1.40 m, b: 1 m, h: 1 m) of 2.117 m³/s, indicates that the channel is capable of accommodating the design discharge. However, the results of field observations indicate the need for replanning to maintain smooth flow and prevent potential local inundation. This research can be the basis for improving the drainage system in Samarinda City.

Abstract

High downtime in production machines is one of the main obstacles that hinder the achievement of production targets in the manufacturing industry. PT Syngenta Seed Indonesia, particularly in the plant dryer section, experiences significant downtime issues on the dryer machine, which impacts the failure to meet the corn seed yield targets. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of the dryer machine and identify the root causes of downtime in order to propose appropriate corrective actions. The method used is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measurement, which consists of three main components: availability, performance, and quality. The results of the study show that the average OEE value is 48%, far below the world-class standard of 85%. The average values for availability, performance, and quality are 66%, 75%, and 97%, respectively. The main causes of the low OEE value are high downtime due to material waiting times, machine overheating, and operator handling errors. Based on these findings, proposed improvements include operator training, rescheduling preventive maintenance, temperature sensor repairs, and adjustments to the drying process information system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of the Ring Frame Spinning 5 machine at PT. Indorama Synthetics Tbk using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and Six Big Losses approach. The research was conducted quantitatively using data from September 2024 to February 2025. The analysis showed that the average OEE value was 83.476%, which is below the World Class OEE standard of 85%. The highest losses were identified in Idling & Minor Stoppage (20.72%) and Reduced Speed Losses (24.56%). The root causes of these losses were analyzed using fishbone diagrams and the 5W + 1H method, focusing on factors such as manpower, machines, methods, materials, and the production environment. Recommended improvements include operator training, SOP implementation, scheduled machine component replacement, and environmental control in the production area.

Abstract

Occupational safety in the basic chemical industry is a major concern, especially in the Electrical Department of PT XYZ, which has a high risk of work-related accidents. This study aims to identify potential hazards, assess risk levels, and provide corrective recommendations using the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) method. Data were collected through field observations, interviews, and analysis of 37 accident cases that occurred throughout 2024. The findings revealed 20 sources of hazards, several of which were classified as extreme risks, such as arc flashes, oxygen deficiency, and capacitor explosions. Risk assessments were conducted using a 5x5 matrix based on likelihood and severity levels. The recommended control measures include engineering modifications, administrative controls, and the use of personal protective equipment. This research is expected to enhance workplace safety systems and prevent future accidents.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the concentration of cocoa peel biosorbent (Theobroma Cacao L) on the decrease of Pb & Cd Metals in AAS wastewater and to determine the effect of cocoa peel extract concentration in inhibiting the growth of Staphylococcus Aureus (S.Aureus) bacteria. Cocoa peel biosorbents were activated with HNO3 0.6 N. Biosorbents with masses of 5 grams, 10 grams and 15 grams were able to absorb Pb and Cd metals in the waste, which absorbed 1.7703 mg/L, 2.1428 mg/L and 2.4868 mg/L respectively from the initial concentration of waste which was 3.0069 mg/L. So that the absorption effectiveness was obtained at 58.87%, respectively.  71.26% and 82.70% where the largest absorption was with the addition of 15 grams of biosorbent and metal Cd in the waste, which were absorbed by 2.0100 mg/L, 2.3538 mg/L and 2.6499 mg/L respectively from the initial concentration of waste, which was 3.0024 mg/L. So that the absorption effectiveness was obtained which was 66.94%, 78.35% and 88.25%, respectively, where the largest absorption was with the addition of biosorbents of 15 grams.
