Abstract

Physical Education, Sports, and Health plays a crucial role in supporting physical development, character building, and a healthy lifestyle. However, Islamic boarding school-based educational institutions still face challenges related to limited teaching competencies among physical education teachers, particularly those without formal physical education backgrounds. This condition impacts the quality of learning, resulting in unstructured and monotonous teaching that hinders the achievement of learning objectives. This community service program aims to improve the pedagogical and professional competencies of physical education teachers in Islamic boarding schools through module-based training and mentoring. The program was implemented through needs analysis, module development, workshops, teaching practice assistance, and evaluation. Participants included four physical education teachers and fifteen community service teachers from Islamic boarding school backgrounds. Results showed that the module-based training improved teachers' understanding of basic Physical Education, Sports, and Health concepts, as well as lesson planning skills and structured teaching practices. Participants responded positively, with a 100% satisfaction rate, and considered the module a practical teaching guide. These findings confirm that module-based training is effective and essential for improving the competency of physical education teachers in Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

The implementation of community service and independent implementation of non-profit educational organizations plays an important role in providing quality educational services without a profit orientation. However, challenges in maintaining accountability and transparency still often occur, especially in terms of financial reporting. The application of Financial Accounting Standards Interpretation (ISAK) 35: Presentation of Financial Statements of Non-Profit Entities is a strategic step to ensure that the financial statements of non-profit educational institutions can reflect the actual conditions and are easily understood by stakeholders. This PKM activity aims to improve the understanding and implementation of ISAK 35 in non-profit educational institutions partnered with Trie Bhakti University through training, mentoring, and the preparation of ISAK 35-based financial report models. The results of this activity show a significant increase in the understanding of foundation administrators regarding the principles of accountability, financial report structure, and public information disclosure. With the implementation of ISAK 35, partner educational institutions are able to produce more transparent, relevant, and reliable financial reports as a form of accountability to the public and donors

Abstract

Extracurricular activities are a strategic instrument for holistically developing student potential, but their implementation in elementary schools is often not optimal. The purpose of this community service activity is to develop and strengthen extracurricular services based on student interests and talents at Mataram 24 Elementary School. This community service activity is carried out in three main stages, namely: (1) planning through observation, interest mapping, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD); (2) implementation of extracurricular programs; and (3) evaluation of activity results. There are three types of extracurricular activities facilitated by referring to the planning results, namely Tahfidz, Paskibra, and English Club. Community service activities show an increase in student participation and involvement. The Tahfidz extracurricular activity shows a significant contribution to Al-Quran literacy, Paskibra strengthens discipline and cooperation, while English Club can improve self-confidence and basic English communication skills. In addition to its direct impact on students, this activity also helps schools in systematically designing and managing extracurricular activities. The results of this activity also strengthen collaboration between universities and schools to revitalize the function of extracurricular activities as a vital tool for developing the character and potential of elementary school students. This program also has the potential to become a model for good practice in strengthening self-development services in elementary schools.

Abstract

Anchovies are small pelagic fish belonging to the order Malacopterygi and family Clupeidae, with lengths ranging from 40–145 mm. They have thin, easily detached scales, a silvery lateral line located between the pectoral and pelvic fins, and are commonly found in coastal waters. West Sumatra Province consists of both marine and land areas, with several coastal regencies, including Pesisir Selatan Regency, which has a coastline of approximately 201.8 km. In Koto XI Tarusan District, about 80% of the population relies on fishing as their main livelihood. Anchovy fishing is typically conducted at night using floating bagan gear with a 1 mm mesh size. Preservation methods include boiling, salting, drying, smoking, and cooling. A survey of the Ombak Badabuih Fishermen’s Group in Simpang Ampang Pulai, Koto XI Tarusan District, revealed that fishermen face limitations due to inadequate anchovy boiling equipment. The current tools use thin metal plates, wood covers, and clay pans that must be replaced every three months, resulting in high costs and reliance on firewood as fuel. Therefore, this community service program aims to innovate a stainless-steel anchovy boiling system to improve product quality and enhance the fishermen’s economic conditions.

Abstract

In the era of educational globalization, collaboration between universities across countries has become a strategic necessity to strengthen the exchange of knowledge, culture, and innovation. Indonesia, as a country with rich culture, languages, and significant academic potential, has the opportunity to expand its educational network with countries in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. However, educational and cultural relations between Indonesia and the Philippines have not been optimally developed. In that regard, through this community service activity, a team of Indonesian academics seeks to comprehensively introduce Indonesia to the academic community in the Philippines, while also opening opportunities for collaboration between universities in education, research, and community service. This activity also represents the implementation of educational, language, and cultural diplomacy, demonstrating the contribution of Indonesian universities at the international level. This activity is expected to result in the signing and implementation of cooperation agreements

Abstract

Physical education in elementary schools plays a strategic role in developing children’s fundamental movement skills, physical fitness, and character formation. However, the implementation of artistic gymnastics learning at the elementary level remains limited due to teachers’ lack of specific technical training, inadequate facilities, and the absence of structured instructional modules. This community service program aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies and improve students’ basic artistic gymnastics skills through a systematic and participatory approach. The program was conducted over one month and involved 15 physical education teachers and 120 students from five elementary schools. The activities included program socialization, a one-week intensive technical training for teachers using a learning-by-doing approach, and a three-week implementation phase for students. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test assessments of teachers’ knowledge and students’ gymnastics skills. The results showed a 27.2% increase in teachers’ knowledge scores and a 32.16% improvement in students’ basic gymnastics skills. These findings are consistent with experiential learning theory and previous studies indicating that practical-based teacher training significantly enhances pedagogical competence and positively impacts student learning outcomes. The program demonstrates that strengthening teacher capacity, applying progressive teaching methods, and ensuring safe learning environments are key factors in improving the quality of artistic gymnastics instruction in elementary schools.

Abstract

Preserving local wisdom in the field of health, particularly traditional health therapy tools, has become a challenge in the era of modernisation due to the declining interest of the younger generation in learning about and applying them. This community service activity aims to empower senior high school students through education, practical training, and participatory empowerment so that they are able to understand, use, and preserve traditional health therapy tools as cultural heritage. The methods used include needs identification, educational socialisation, guided practical training, empowerment of students as agents of preservation, and periodic monitoring and evaluation. The results of the community service show an increase in students' knowledge, attitudes, and skills in using traditional therapy tools, as well as an increase in their enthusiasm to play an active role in preserving local wisdom. This activity also fostered students' awareness of cultural and health values based on local wisdom, while shaping the character of the younger generation to care about culture and community welfare. Thus, empowering students through community service can be an effective strategy for maintaining the sustainability of traditional health therapy tools and strengthening the nation's cultural identity.

Abstract

In addition to improving motivation and self-confidence, the positive reinforcement–based mentoring activities also brought significant changes to the learning dynamics in the field. Students who were previously passive and hesitant began to show greater confidence when attempting the forearm passing technique. Each form of praise and feedback provided encouraged students to repeat the movement with increased assurance. This was evident from the growing number of students who voluntarily stepped forward to practice the technique in front of the group. Positive changes were also observed in the quality of interaction between students and lecturers. The reinforcement approach created a more dialogic and supportive learning atmosphere. Students felt appreciated, making them more receptive to corrections and more responsive in improving their technical errors. The training environment became more conducive and collaborative, as students supported one another whenever progress was demonstrated by their peers. Furthermore, observational results indicated a significant improvement in the students’ forearm passing accuracy, particularly in body positioning, arm swing, and movement coordination. This improvement was not only seen in students who initially displayed adequate skills but also in those who previously faced limitations. This demonstrates that the implementation of reinforcement has an equal and inclusive effect on all participants. Students also expressed that this approach made them feel more comfortable and motivated throughout the learning process. They perceived positive reinforcement as providing psychological safety, as mistakes were not regarded as failures but as essential elements of the learning process. This condition fostered a more humanistic learning climate and encouraged students to continually engage in self-improvement. Thus, the outcomes of this community service program not only enhanced students’ technical skills but also developed a more positive, supportive, and sustainable learning culture. This mentoring model has the potential to be applied to other volleyball techniques as well as to other sports-related courses that require a motivational approach
