'A Jamiy: Arabic Language and Literature Journal (p-issn: 2252-9926 and e-issn: 2657-2206) is a scientific journal that has published scientific papers since 2012. This journal is a Linguistics and Literature journal that is published twice a year in June and September by the Arabic Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Muhammadiyah University, Gorontalo. This journal discusses language problems that are examined in the branches of applied linguistics, such as sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, pragmatics, stylistics, corpus linguistics, and others. In the field of literature, it includes literary history, literary theory, literary criticism, and others, which may include written texts, films, and other media. We only accept scholarly papers written in Bahasa Indonesia, Arab and English.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of interactive learning media based on hyperlinks on students' vocabulary mastery. The background of this research is the low motivation and vocabulary mastery of students in Arabic language learning at MTs ABATA Al-Washliyah Islamic School in Perbaungan, which is caused by a lack of variation in learning media. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects of the study are 20 seventh-grade students from MTs ABATA Al-Washliyah Islamic School in Perbaungan. Data were collected through pretests and posttests consisting of 15 items (10 multiple-choice questions and 5 essay questions) regarding the vocabulary of al-adawatu al-madrasiyyah. Data analysis was conducted using validity and reliability tests for the instruments, Shapiro-Wilk normality test, paired sample t-test for hypothesis testing, and N-Gain test. The results indicate that the test instruments are valid and reliable, and the pretest and posttest data are normally distributed. The hypothesis test shows a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of interactive learning media based on hyperlinks on students' vocabulary mastery. The average pretest score was 53.00, which increased to 80.00 in the posttest. This improvement is categorized as high based on the N-Gain test with an average of 0.78. Therefore, this study concludes that interactive learning media based on hyperlinks is effective in enhancing students' vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengkaji kekayaan relasi makna dalam bahasa Arab melalui analisis terhadap tiga fenomena linguistik utama: tarāduf (sinonimi), al-musytarak al-lafẓī (homonimi/polisemi), dan taḍādd (antonimi). Ketiga fitur ini merupakan fondasi semantik dalam bahasa Arab dan memainkan peran penting dalam teori linguistik, hermeneutika Al-Qur’an (tafsir), serta retorika klasik Arab. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif yang didukung oleh analisis semantik dan kerangka retorika klasik. Data primer diperoleh dari Al-Qur’an, kitab-kitab tafsir klasik, dan kamus otoritatif seperti Lisān al-ʿArab, serta diperkuat oleh referensi sekunder dari literatur semantik dan filologi Arab kontemporer. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa tarāduf dalam bahasa Arab jarang bersifat mutlak; istilah-istilah yang tampak sinonim sering kali membawa perbedaan makna yang halus dan kontekstual. Fenomena al-musytarak al-lafẓī menunjukkan pentingnya peran konteks dalam mengurai ambiguitas leksikal, sementara taḍādd memperkaya ekspresi retoris melalui pembentukan dikotomi moral dan teologis. Pola-pola semantik ini menegaskan bahwa bahasa Arab beroperasi dalam sistem makna yang kompleks, berlapis, dan sangat bergantung pada konteks, sehingga menuntut pendekatan integratif dalam kajian linguistik Arab dan penafsiran Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of implementing the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) method on students’ understanding of ism isyarah (demonstrative nouns) among seventh-grade learners at MTs Negeri 1 Kota Gorontalo. Employing a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design, the research involved two classes of 30 students each: class VII-9 as the experimental group taught using CLT and class VII-12 as the control group taught through a conventional method. Data were collected through a validated and reliable comprehension test (α = 0.87). Results of the t-test showed a significant difference between the experimental group (M = 74.13) and the control group (M = 68.43) with p < 0.001. The effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.47) indicated a strong impact of CLT on students’ comprehension. These findings confirm that CLT enhances Arabic grammar learning through communicative and interactive activities. Broader adoption of CLT in Arabic instruction is recommended.

Abstract

The background of this study is rooted in the phenomenon that translators often do not adhere to Indonesian language guidelines due to their inability or reluctance to make corrections, as well as their lack of understanding of Indonesian language usage guidelines. The purpose of this study is to apply Indonesian language guidelines in translated texts. The methods used are qualitative methods and analysing the text. Analysing the text through the process of editing words and phrases from the translated text of the novel "Baina Al-Qasrain". The results of this study show that the application of Indonesian language guidelines is very effective in enhancing the reputation of a translator, because it is considered to have a deep understanding of the world of writing. The research also found 5 nonstandard writing errors and 20 punctuation and grammar errors

Abstract

This research discusses the relationship of meaning in the lyrics of Maher Zain's songs through a semantic approach. The background of this research lies in the importance of understanding the connection between words and their meanings in song lyrics to gain a deeper understanding of language nuances and how language is used in different contexts. The aim of this research is to analyze the semantic relationships in Maher Zain's song lyrics and provide examples of these semantic relationships in the lyrics. The method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative research, employing an observational method with documentation techniques. The research findings indicate various types of semantic relationships in Maher Zain's song lyrics, such as synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, and hyponyms. Additionally, this research also discusses the analysis of semantic relationships in the lyrics, particularly the presence of polysemy or multiple meanings in certain words. The implications of this research underscore the importance of understanding the semantic relationships in song lyrics to gain a deeper understanding of the message and themes of the songs.

Abstract

Penelitianinimembahas al-fas}lu dan al-was}lu dalam al-Qur’an dengan tigarumusanmasalahyaitu; bagaimana penggunaan uslu>b al-fas}lu dalam al-Qur’an,  bagaimana penggunaan uslu>b al-was}lu dalam al-Qur’an, dan apa tujuan penggunaan al-fas}lu  dan al-was}l  dalam al-Qur’an perspektif balaqah. Tujuan dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggunaan al-fas}lu  dan al-was}l  dalam al-Qur’an, dan untuk mengetahui  tujuan penggunaan dari al-fas}lu  dan al-was}l  dalam al-Qur’an perspektif balagah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada penggunaan  al-fas}lu terdapat 4 tempat yaitu : kesinambungan yang sempurna, keterputusan yang sempurna, kemiripan kesinambungan yang sempurna, menjadi penengah diantara dua kalimat, adapun pada al-was}lu terdapat 3 tempat yaitu : kesesuaian antara khabar dan insya’ pada lafadz dan maknanya, kalimat pertama memiliki kedudukan dalam i’rab dan kalimat keduanya merupakan hukum dari i’rab, terdapat perbedaan antara kalimat pertama dan kedua dari bentuk khobar dan insya’.

Abstract

Accreditation is a form of external quality assurance for higher education study programmes to the community and a reference for improving the level.  The main objective of the research is to analyse the study programme performance document (DKPS) to evaluate the readiness of the language study programme in achieving superior accreditation status. This research method uses a mixed method type. Data were collected through the Study Programme Performance Document (DKPS), and Book 4 of LAMDIK. The population of quantitative data totalled 89 items. While the sample consisted of 27 items, purposive sampling focused on standards 5 to 9. This study concluded that based on quantitative data and the contents of the study programme performance document (DKPS) in the form of 6 DTPS, 120 Active Students, and the number of graduates each year (6/10/15/10/20), an average score of 4 and an initial value of 194.80 were obtained. To achieve a superior score (NA ≥ 361), the initial score must still be added with several other scores, such as a) the scores obtained from standards 1 to 4, b) the value of the Self Evaluation Report (LED), c) the value of the field assessment (AL) and practicum, (d) the combined score between two assessors and (e) the final score by the accreditation panel. This research contributes to knowledge on how to improve accreditation scores and grades to be superior along with the formulation of strategies and recommendations to improve accreditation status with four quality dimensions (1) leadership and governance performance, (2) inputs, (3) processes and (4) outputs and outcomes.

Abstract

This article aims to describe and analyze the themes and meanings contained in the poem Anā wa al-Nisā’ by Nizar Qabbani. The research method used is descriptive which describes and analyzes the themes of Anā wa al-Nisā’s poetry by Nizar Qabbani. The data collection technique used is the listening technique by taking notes starting from reading books, research and other articles related to the research topic. The results of this study are that the themes contained in Anā wa al-Nisā’ by Nizar Qabbani are very diverse, such as the themes of love, sadness, boredom, and also matters relating to women. Then there are several pronunciations that have denotative meanings in the first and second stanzas. While the pronunciation which is interpreted as connotation is found in the third stanza.

Abstract

 This article focuses on the authority of Shaikh Ahmad bin Abdul Lat}i>f al-Khati>b al-Jawi> al-Minkabawi> or Shaikh Ahmad Khatib Minangkabau (1860-1916) - abbreviated as Shaikh Ahmad Khatib - in the field of Arabic poetry in his work, Is}ba>t al-Zain li S}ulh al-Jama'atain bi Jawa>z Ta'addud al-Jumu'atain between pages 21-71. This work, although it discusses fiqh and his debate with Sayyid Usman Betawi over Friday prayers in Palembang at the end of the 19th century, contains many verses used in the context of making his argument. In fact, so far, he is only known as a figure in the fields of fiqh, tawhid, and tasawwuf. In this article, the side that has never been studied is from the side of his authority in Arabic poetry and then contextualizing the poetry in an argumentative debate with Sayyid Usman. Through a historical approach and Arabic literature, the results show that Syaikh Ahmad Khatib is an authoritative scholar in this field. This is because he is able to use it in the context of argumentation. However, his authority in this field is in the stage of quoting Arabic poetry from the compiler; not yet in the stage of creating. This article recommends that further research be conducted on Shaykh Ahmad Khatib's authority in this field in terms of his ability to create poetry in accordance with the rules and knowledge of Arabic literature.

Abstract

The material object in this research is one of Najib Mahfudz's collection of stories with the title "Si Malang", which is taken from a story collection book entitled "Bisik Bintang", the formal object of which is deconstruction presented by Derrida. This article offers a new reading and meaning of the story of the character Hasan El-Dahshan. As a variety of literary sociology theory, Derrida's deconstruction has a theoretical category that rejects the establishment of all forms of logocentric structures understood by most people where there is only black and white or only right and wrong. Therefore, this theory tries to turn this around, so that it has a wider variety of colors and does not just focus on one point that is always considered correct by society. The research in this paper comes from the literature. The method used is deconstruction through three stages: the first stage is verbal reading, the second stage is textual reading, and the third is linguistic reading. The results of this research found a structure that was considered established and considered valid, which was then carried out by reversing the hierarchy by reviewing it again to see the form of instability of meaning through the multiplicity of characters in the short story, thus producing new meaning through the multiplication of identities, showing the destruction of the absoluteness of identities that are only understood as powerful, evil, powerful, and powerless in the story.Objek materi dalam penelitian ini adalah salah satu dari kumpulan cerita Najib Mahfudz dengan judul “Si Malang” yang diambil dari buku kumpulan cerita berjudul “Bisik Bintang”, objek formalnya adalah dekonstruksi yang dibawakan oleh Derrida. Tulisan ini menawarkan pembacaan dan pemaknaan baru atas cerita tokoh Hasan El-Dahshan. Sebagai ragam teori sastra sosiologi, dekonstruksi Derrida memiliki kategori psikologi yang menolak kemapuan dari segala bentuk Struktur logosentris yang dipahami oleh kebanyakan orang yang mana hanya ada hitam dan putih atau hanya ada benar dan salah. Oleh karena itu teori ini mencoba memutarbalikkan hal tersebut agar lebih memiliki ragam warna dan tidak hanya fokus pada satu titik yang selalu dianggap benar oleh masyarakat. Penelitian dalam tulisan ini berasal dari kepustakaan, Adapun penggunaan metode berupa dekonstruksi melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap pertama berupa pembacaan verbal, tahap kedua berupa pembacaan tekstual, dan ketiga berupa pembacaan secara linguistik. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan struktur yang sudah dianggap mapan dan dianggap absah, yang kemudian dilakukan pembalikan hierarki dengan menelaah kembali untuk melihat bentuk ketidakstabilan makna melalui multiplitas tokoh yang berada di dalam cerpen sehingga menghasilkan pemaknaan baru melalui multiplikasi identitas, menunjukkan hancurnya kemutlakan identitas yang hanya menjadi orang yang memahami kekuasaan, jahat, kuat, dan tidak berdaya pada cerita tersebut.
