Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of character education based on the local wisdom of the Sasak community and their role in character formation in everyday life. The research used a qualitative, ethnographic design and was conducted in Sade Village, Rembitan, and Segenter, all of which are Sasak customary communities. The data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were then analyzed using an interactive model. Data validity was examined through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The study's results show that character education in the Sasak community is internalized through four main domains. First, religious values, manifested through Quran recitation activities, village religious gatherings, and the tradition of ngaji menaq, serve as the foundation for character formation derived from the local wisdom of the Sasak community. Second, local wisdom instills values of prudence, honesty, and moral responsibility. Third, the practice of gotong royong (besiru, begawe, mandek bale) strengthens prosocial character, which is perceived as good character in social relations. Fourth, Tuan Guru and traditional leaders play a central role in character education through role modeling, advice, and the transmission of adat-pamali values integrated with Islamic sharia. The research findings affirm that character education in the Sasak community occurs through concrete, continuous cultural processes. Overall, this study shows that Sasak local wisdom makes a strategic contribution to the development of religious, ethical, and prosocial character aligned with its principles on the island of Lombok

Abstract

This study aims to analyze elementary school students’ misconceptions about the Earth and its changes using a three-tier diagnostic instrument. An accurate understanding of Earth's phenomena is very important for students to build a foundation of scientific thinking from an early age. However, in reality, many students hold incorrect initial conceptions that continue over time, leading to misconceptions that are difficult to detect through conventional tests. For this reason, this study employed a survey method with a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach to identify the patterns and depth of students’ misconceptions. The research participants consisted of 38 sixth-grade students from one elementary school in Sukabumi Regency. Data were collected using 10 items of a three-tier diagnostic instrument that included answer choices, levels of confidence, and students’ conceptual reasoning. The analysis indicated that students experienced various misconceptions across several sub-concepts of Earth and its changes, with an average percentage of misconceptions reaching 56%. These findings indicate that most students have not yet developed a comprehensive scientific understanding of these natural phenomena. Therefore, it can be concluded that the three-tier diagnostic instrument is effective for identifying and analyzing students’ misconceptions and can serve as an important reference for teachers in designing Natural Science learning strategies that are more meaningful and oriented toward conceptual understanding

Abstract

This study aims to examine the diversification of learning models that strengthen employability skills among students of Vocational High Schools (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan; SMK) based on scientific publications published from 2015 to 2025. Vocational High School (SMK) graduates are expected to master technical competencies while also possessing 21st-century skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, digital literacy, and leadership, to adapt to the demands of the business and industrial sectors in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, following the PRISMA Statement protocol, to select and analyze relevant articles published over the past decade. The results of the review indicate that six main learning models support the improvement of employability skills, namely Project-Based Learning (PBL), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Work-Based Learning (WBL), Teaching Factory (TeFa), Blended Learning or Flipped Classroom, and Cooperative Learning. Each model provides a distinct contribution: PjBL and PBL strengthen critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills; WBL and TeFa enhance adaptability, professional communication, and technological literacy; Blended Learning emphasizes digital literacy and learner autonomy; while Cooperative Learning reinforces interpersonal communication, teamwork, and leadership. This study concludes that no single learning model can comprehensively accommodate all aspects of employability skills. Therefore, the diversification and integration of various learning models during the 2015 to 2025 period becomes an essential strategy for building a vocational education ecosystem that is relevant and responsive to industry needs

Abstract

The accelerating environmental the accelerating environmental crisis including ecological degradation, climate change, and the depletion of natural resources poses serious challenges for educational institutions, particularly those carrying moral and spiritual responsibilities such as Islamic schools and madrasahs. This study explores how ecotheological leadership functions as an integrative ethical and managerial paradigm in responding to environmental challenges within Islamic educational institutions through leadership quality management practices. The primary issue addressed is the insufficient integration of ecological values into leadership management models that often emphasize administrative performance while neglecting environmental responsibility and spiritual ethics. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach supported by literature review, in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis, this research investigates leadership practices grounded in Islamic ecotheological principles, including khalīfat al-arḍ (stewardship of the earth), amānah (trust), and maṣlaḥah (public good). The findings demonstrate that ecotheological leadership plays a crucial role in institutionalizing ecological ethics through participatory governance, curriculum integration, environmentally oriented policies, and accountability mechanisms within quality management systems. These approaches foster sustainability awareness among educators and students while strengthening institutional culture and responsibility. The study concludes that ecotheological leadership provides a transformative leadership model in which environmental stewardship becomes an essential component of educational governance rather than a peripheral initiative, aligning Islamic moral theology with sustainable development goals to ensure educational quality and ecological sustainability for present and future generations
