Abstract

The community service activity (abdimas) titled "Coding Learning Training for the Muhammadiyah Primary and Secondary Education Learning Community (Dikdasmen) Banjarbaru" was implemented as part of the 2025 PDWA program. This activity was designed to enhance teacher competencies in response to the new curriculum direction, which integrates coding and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The target participants were teachers associated with the Muhammadiyah Teachers Forum (FGM) in Banjarbaru. The effectiveness of the training was measured using quantitative methods (pre-test and post-test) and qualitative methods (satisfaction surveys). Quantitative results from 39 participants indicated a highly significant improvement in understanding, with the average score increasing from 68.5 (pre-test) to 88 (post-test). These findings were reinforced by qualitative feedback, which showed high levels of satisfaction regarding the material, instructor performance, and training methods. More than 80% of participants gave a rating of 4 or 5 (on a 1-5 scale) for key aspects such as material applicability, instructor competence, and hands-on practice sessions. Overall, this training successfully achieved its objectives, proving capable of measurably increasing teacher capacity and being well-received by the partner community. Abstrak. Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) producing tofu play an important role in the national economy, but most of them have not properly managed their production waste, which has the potential to cause environmental pollution. This community service activity aims to implement a simple, effective, and sustainable tofu liquid waste treatment technology, as well as to enhance the human resource capacity of MSME partners in Yogyakarta to manage waste independently. The methods used include observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and the implementation of four outreach sub-activities: (1) the hazards of tofu waste content, (2) wastewater quality standards, (3) wastewater treatment methods, and (4) Internet of Things (IoT)-based waste treatment technology. The results of the activity show that more than 80% of the partners have been educated about the dangers of waste, understand the correct treatment methods, and are able to use IoT technology to monitor waste parameters in real-time via smartphones. The impact of this community service is an increase in partners' awareness of environmental responsibility and their readiness to implement sustainable waste treatment technology.

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is one of the non-communicable diseases that is the leading cause of premature death in the world, which if left untreated can trigger serious complications such as heart disease and stroke. One alternative non-pharmacological treatment that is starting to be widely developed in the community is the use of the herbal plant Rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa). The objectives and focus of this activity are: Increase public knowledge about the dangers of hypertension, Provide education about the content of anthocyanin compounds in Rosella flowers that function as natural ACE-inhibitors and diuretics, Provide training on how to process dried Rosella flower petals into a safe brewed tea, and introduce the correct dosage to avoid side effects for the stomach. There was an 83,75% increase in public knowledge about complementary therapies after the counseling. The community is now able to independently process Rosella tea as a family health drink that is economical and effective in helping to maintain stable systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Abstrak. Abstract

Non-communicable diseases remain a leading cause of morbidity among the elderly, particularly in underserved regions with limited access to preventive health services. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a church-based community training program in improving the capacity of elderly health cadres for early detection of non-communicable diseases in Southwest Papua. A participatory action research design with a one-group pre-test–post-test approach was applied to 17 cadres from seven congregations. The intervention consisted of interactive lectures, hands-on practice, and simulation using a structured training manual. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from 54.1±12.3 to 86.5±8.7 (p

Abstract

Diarrhea in toddlers is one of the main causes of illness and death that still frequently occurs in residential areas with poor sanitation, including areas along rivers. This study aims to determine the relationship between Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers aged 0–36 months in the working area of the Pekauman Banjarmasin Community Health Center. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 98 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a CHB questionnaire and a diarrhea incidence observation sheet. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between PHBS and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers (p = 0.002). Toddlers with poor PHBS had a higher proportion of diarrhea cases (75.9%) compared to toddlers in families with good PHBS (45.5%). These findings indicate that poor PHBS practices, such as not washing hands with soap, using unclean water, inadequate sanitation, low rotavirus immunization coverage, and using unsanitary toilets, contribute to the high incidence of diarrhea. This study is expected to serve as a basis for health workers in improving PHBS education programs, especially through a family approach in riverside settlements. The research outputs, in the form of leaflets and PHBS education applications, can also be used as a medium for promotive-preventive interventions in efforts to reduce the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers.
