Abstract

Early-age marriages are still a serious problem in Indonesia, especially in rural areas.  In this activity we analyzed the phenomenon of early marriage in the village of Margopatut, Nganjuk district, by applying the Gender Analysis Pathway (GAP). The aim is to identify the causes of early marriage, develop a gender-responsive intervention program for the village. Through the analysis of GAP, it has been found that early marriages are still dominated by women, with some factors including poor understanding of the maturity of marriage age and family economic conditions. Recommended intervention programmes include counseling, training, selection of gender ambassadors, and advocacy for strengthening education and career training for women. We concluded that tackling early-age marriages requires a gender-responsive and sustainable approach as well as cooperation between governments, communities, and relevant institutions. This GAP analysis can be a basis for developing policies and programmes that are more effective in dealing with early-age marriages, and can be put forward in the village distribution activities

Abstract

Shrimp farming plays a crucial role to the Indonesian economy, but it is facing challenges from shifting weather patterns and global warming. This research focuses on the development and implementation of a web-based water quality monitoring system for shrimp farming to address these concerns. The research, conducted in collaboration with shrimp farmers in Sidoarjo, East Java, introduces PENS Aquaculture program, which is designed to efficiently monitor pH, salinity, and temperature. The system employs Internet ofThings (IoT) technology, which allows farmers to register several ponds, analyze water parameters, and receive real-time data through tables and graphs. The research takes a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative data from IoT devices with qualitative insights gathered through surveys and interviews with shrimp farmers. The study aims to evaluate the influence of IoT technology on shrimp pond quality and its contribution to the production. The findings show that PENS Aquaculture application is helpful in increasing shrimp farming efficiency, providing significant insights for the fisheries and cultural sectors.

Abstract

The modern community's alarming waste issue is single-use sanitary pads. Every day, 26 tons of sanitary pad waste are generated in Indonesia. Over a year, each person is estimated to produce 300 sanitary pad wastes, totaling around 11,000 wastes throughout their lifetime. In Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), this sanitary pad waste problem also needs immediate attention. At Annuqayah Islamic Boarding School, with a total of 3,468 female students, there is a potential of producing 1,040,400 single-use sanitary pad wastes annually. Hence, reducing sanitary pad waste is crucial. This community service activity aims to reduce single-use sanitary pad waste through minimizing their usage. The method employed in this activity was through the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, where students were encouraged to be more environmentally conscious and gradually abandon the use of single-use sanitary pads. The strategies involved in the activity include conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGD), Environmental Film Discussions, Environmental Seminars, training on making environmentally friendly sanitary pads, establishing an environmentally friendly sanitary pad production house, FGDs on policy formulation regarding the implementation of environmentally friendly sanitary pads, and mentoring on the implementation of environmentally friendly sanitary pads in the pesantren. The results of the community service show that this activity successfully increased students' awareness and concern for the environment, enhanced students' knowledge about single-use sanitary pads, provided life skills training on making environmentally friendly sanitary pads, established regulations prohibiting the use of single-use sanitary pads in the pesantren, and implemented the use of environmentally friendly sanitary pads at Annuqayah Islamic Boarding School

Abstract

Women are the pillars of life, especially in domestic matters, this condition makes them have to take roles in the domestic and public spheres at the same time. in the public sector, forcing them to do various jobs, such as farmers, fishermen and weavers. They choose weaving because they don't have other jobs, they don't have much education, and they don't have much capital. For women, working is helping the poor household economy. This assistance was carried out in Laren Lamongan Pelangwot Village. The method used is ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) because the Pelangwot residents have looms and the process of making woven sarongs is a village asset. The results of this assistance show that women are able to start organizing their lives better and have the fighting power to develop their creativity in weaving, this is shown in their behavior during the counseling and training carried out, not only that, they also ask for further assistance to strengthen their community so that it can be formally recognized.

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp is one of the leading commodities in fisheries aquaculture, due to its competitive price and the ability to be mass-produced with high stocking densities. Many coastal communities in East Java capitalize on this opportunity by engaging in vannamei shrimp cultivation. However, most shrimp farmers still measure pond water quality using conventional methods and record water quality parameters on paper, which is highly inefficient. With this issue in mind, the author sought to engage in community service by inviting representatives from the East Java vannamei shrimp farming community. The method involved delivering lectures and interactive discussions with shrimp farmers to understand their perceptions and insights regarding pond water quality, followed by the handover of modules, and subsequently evaluating the modules' usage by the shrimp farmers. As a result of this community service, we introduced a tool to assist traditional shrimp pond farmers in monitoring water quality, in the form of a "Water Quality Meter" module integrated with a website accessible via smartphones and laptops. The "Water Quality Meter" module was designed with a system to portable monitor pond water quality using Internet of Things (IoT) technology, where data obtained by microcontrollers is transmitted to a database to determine the quality value of pond water. Evaluation results indicate that farmers can use the module effectively, and data collected on the website shows that pond water quality for the farmers remains within normal ranges. Shrimp farmers directly benefit from using the module, as the shrimp pond monitoring process becomes more practical and accurate.

Abstract

Duyung Village, located in Trawas District, Mojokerto Regency, has local food potential for Cilembu sweet potatoes. The problem that arises is that the use of local food is not yet optimal. Processing into Cilembu sweet potato flour and dry noodles is a step to optimize its utilization. This community service activity aims to develop the local food potential of Cilembu sweet potatoes in order to achieve food security in Duyung Village. Partners for this community service activity are farmer group partners and PKK groups. Training activities on making Cilembu sweet potato flour and dry noodles made from Cilembu sweet potato flour have been able to increase partners' knowledge and skills regarding the processing of Cilembu sweet potato flour and its application in dry noodle products. Mitra is also enthusiastic about making Cilembu sweet potato flour and dry noodles which will later become a business unit. The establishment of the Cilembu sweet potato flour and dry noodle business unit is expected to increase food security in Duyung Village through utilizing local food potential
