Abstract

The “Guyub Rukun” Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) in Wringinputih Village, a buffer zone for the Borobudur National Strategic Tourism Area, possesses diverse potential business units but faces challenges due to limited promotion. This community service initiative aims to empower the BUMDes through improving human resource quality and developing branding and digital marketing for village tourism packages, including assistance for business units and MSMEs. A participatory rural appraisal method was implemented through socialization, training (waste management, branding, digital marketing), and mentoring. The results of the activities demonstrated a significant increase in waste management (including eco-enzyme production), an understanding of the importance of branding, and the adoption of digital marketing with the potential to increase income and welfare, as well as the formation of the “Borobudur Tourism Education” village tourism package, which is expected to enhance tourist attraction.

Abstract

Former tin mining land (known locally as camoy or kulong) has the potential to be utilized as fish cultivation land. Kulong possesses potential for fish farming due to its age, which supports the availability of trophic minerals essential for fish life. Fish farmers frequently encounter problems with disease outbreaks and mortality caused by pathogens, leading to low production yields. Improving the quality of the cultivation environment, including reducing sedimentation from commercial feed, is one solution to mitigate fish diseases and mortality. This community service aims to provide training on environmentally friendly feed for fish farmers through training and mentoring in its application. The program successfully enhanced the partners' ability to produce cost-effective (organic) environmentally friendly feed from agricultural waste (oil palm kernel meal, dregs, bran), which demonstrably improved the quality of the cultivation environment, reduced fish diseases and mortality, and has the potential to increase the quality and quantity of fish production.

Abstract

Mental health understanding among generation Z is quite good. However, this is not followed by their parents. Due to the lack of mental health awareness, parents of generation Z cannot be a support system for their children. The high suicide rate among adolescents that has caused Indonesia to have a suicide emergency is an indication of this issue. Therefore, we feel responsible for providing a solution for it. We started it with the environment closest to us. Hence, we arranged program with the purpose to build awareness of the young people’s parents about mental health issue. The program aimed to increase awareness and support among ‘Aisyiyah Tamantirto Utara Branch Leadership members regarding adolescent mental health, enhancing their ability to identify symptoms, respond appropriately, and provide support. The program utilized lectures on the concepts, causes, impacts, and solutions to mental health challenges, incorporating interactive, two-way discussions. Post-test results showed a significant increase in average scores (2.82), demonstrating the program’s success in raising awareness about adolescent mental health among participants.

Abstract

Stunting, a condition of impaired growth in children due to chronic malnutrition, is a significant public health problem. This community service aimed to increase the knowledge of the community, particularly pregnant women, regarding the potential of Moringa oleifera leaves as a healthy snack alternative in stunting prevention. This activity employed a pre-test post-test design with an intervention of counseling and training on making chicken nuggets fortified with Moringa oleifera leaves. The target participants were pregnant women with low upper arm circumference and mothers with stunted children. Evaluation of participants' understanding of stunting and the benefits of Moringa oleifera leaves was conducted before and after the intervention. The evaluation results showed an increase in participants' understanding of stunting and the benefits of Moringa oleifera leaves, as indicated by an increase in the average score of correct answers in the post-test compared to the pre-test. A hedonic test on the chicken nuggets fortified with Moringa oleifera leaves showed a very high level of liking for taste and color, and a high level of liking for aroma and appearance. The texture of the nuggets was identified as an aspect requiring further improvement.

Abstract

Coffee capsules, which are measured servings of premium, ready-to-brew ground coffee sealed to preserve flavor, possess significant development potential due to the limited number of competitors and promising export and domestic market opportunities. CV. Sundanika Indonesia is one such coffee capsule producer in Indonesia. In its export market initiation, CV. Sundanika Indonesia faced challenges in selecting the appropriate packaging material for its coffee capsules. This Community Service program aimed to facilitate the transition of coffee capsule packaging materials at CV. Sundanika Indonesia. The program commenced with discussions to comprehensively identify the partner's problems and provide recommended solutions. The methods employed included Focus Group Discussions, the provision of sample coffee capsule packaging, and program evaluation. The program results indicate that the partner gained an understanding of packaging functions in general and the significant differences between plastic and aluminum foil packaging for coffee capsules, which motivated them to switch to aluminum foil packaging. A 30% increase in the partner's understanding supports the success of this packaging transition.

Abstract

Medical emergencies can occur in dentistry, including trauma to primary teeth. The global prevalence of dental trauma in children is 10-15%. Trauma to primary teeth can have severe medical, aesthetic, and psychological impacts. Parents and teachers at school are among the most important actors in providing emergency dental care for children. Therefore, providing information that increases parents’ and teachers’ knowledge about pediatric dental emergencies must be done so that appropriate management can be carried out. The method used was training on managing pediatric dental emergencies for parents and teachers at Whiz Kids Playschool Kindergarten. The evaluation showed increased participants’ knowledge before (Range = 10–80, Mean = 47.2) and after (Range = 70–100, Mean = 87.0) the training. Thus, this training successfully increased parents’ and teachers’ knowledge of managing pediatric dental emergencies.

Abstract

Buddagan 1 Hamlet, Pamekasan Regency, faces the problem of cow dung waste piling up around the house, causing an unpleasant odor and unhygienic kitchen conditions. The proximity of the cow shed to the kitchen, coupled with the status of a heritage village that requires a solution without changing the building structure, demands an innovative approach. Therefore, this community service aims to apply biogas technology to utilize cow dung waste as an alternative energy source, improve environmental cleanliness, and reduce household expenses. Community service activities include socialization of biogas technology, training on use and maintenance, as well as installation and evaluation assistance. As a result, biogas technology was successfully implemented, meeting cooking gas needs, reducing household costs, and producing organic fertilizer. Socialization, training, and ongoing assistance ensure the operational success of biogas technology. Buddagan 1 Hamlet is now an inspiring example of environmentally friendly livestock waste management.
