Abstract

The study, which is the implementation of community service organized by STIPAR Ende, wants to focus on how the praxis of community life around the Wolowona river coast, the response of the community around the Wolowona river coast to the existence of the Wolowona river and pastoral efforts to sustain the existence of the Wolowona river. From the star point, this study aims to explore the understanding and praxis of ecological life of the community towards the existence of the Wolowona river from a pastoral perspective in the light of the encyclical Laudato Si' written by Pope Francis. This community service activity was carried out using the drump up method, namely the act of raising awareness from lack of understanding to understanding. The steps taken are: First, conducting social reflection/discussion/FGD with residents who live around the Wolowona riverbank. Second, the emergence of ecological awareness, namely the awareness to maintain and care for the Wolowona river. Third, building an agreement with residents to work together or collaborate to clean Wolowona river and prepare public trash bins in the Wolowona riverbank area. The ecological awareness of residents in the area around the Wolowona riverbank is still quite low. Therefore, it is necessary to build awareness in residents about the importance of maintaining and preserving the Wolowona river as part of the overall ecological system. Residents need to be assisted to strengthen their understanding of the relationship between humans and the universe with the ultimate goal of maintaining, caring for and preserving the existence of the Wolowona river. Pope Francis emphasized the need for active participation from all levels of society in protecting the environment. To achieve this, the following are some practical suggestions. First, the government of Ende Regency with the Environmental Agency as the leading sector, together with the residents, must be able to ensure that the water from this river remains clean. Second, people should not use the river as a place to throw garbage. Third, to reduce the amount of waste such as plastic waste, it is hoped that residents can avoid using disposable plastics. Fourth, it is expected that residents have the awareness to keep the trash bins and utilize them according to their designation. Fifth, the Church as a moral institution continues to advocate its members to maintain and care for ecology as part of their expression of faith.

Abstract

Household waste is one of the biggest waste contributors to the environment. We can handle household waste by separating organic and inorganic waste. Kitchen waste is very useful and can be used like vegetable and fruit leftovers or rotting food. This waste will be processed into fertilizer. In addition to meeting the needs of nutrients in plants, by making organic fertilizer we will reduce too much waste. This activity is in collaboration with the surrounding community in Sumbersari Village. The purpose of this community service is to be able to provide information regarding household waste and the processing of organic waste into post fertilizer. This community service was carried out with a workshop on processing organic waste into compost which was attended by 15 participants. This activity begins with the delivery of material, discussion, demonstration of organic waste processing and ends with questions and answers to the workshop participants. Therefore, the community must increase awareness of the importance of carrying out 3R efforts, namely Reuse; Reduce; and Recycling.

Abstract

Stunting is an irreversible growth disorder caused by a lack of nutritional intake during pregnancy (during 1,000 HPK), therefore, babies aged 0 to 2 years must receive balanced and optimal nutritional intake, because this period is the golden period of growth and development. child. Stunting is caused by a lack of understanding about how to overcome health problems (nutrition intake), therefore it is necessary to prevent stunting as an effort to increase health knowledge through education. Community service aims to find out how education about fulfilling nutrition in efforts to prevent stunting has an impact on increasing knowledge. The method of implementing counseling is carried out through face-to-face meetings and discussions which are considered more effective, where the activity begins with giving a pre-test questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge of mothers of toddlers, then the presentation of the material that takes place allows the audience to pay attention and focus on audio-visual videos regarding nutritional needs. To prevent stunting, evaluation of the results of the activity is carried out by administering a post-test questionnaire in the form of questions regarding the material that has been presented. This community service was carried out on September 18 2023 in Salekoe sub-district, East Wara sub-district, Palopo City, attended by 40 participants, all of whom were mothers of toddlers. The results showed that there was a significant influence on increasing respondents' knowledge before and after being given counseling with a p-value = 0.00 (p<0.05), where there were 20% of respondents who had good knowledge during the pre-test and this increased to 55% of respondents at the time of the post-test, 25% of respondents had sufficient knowledge about stunting at the time of the pre-test and this increased to 32.5% of respondents at the time of the post-test, 55% of respondents had insufficient knowledge at the time of the pre-test and decreased to 12.5% of respondents at the time post-test. The next follow-up is that health workers are expected to be able to use audio-visual videos in efforts to prevent stunting to increase knowledge among mothers of toddlers so that they can reduce the prevalence of stunting.

Abstract

Soil conditions vary from region to region. Some are fertile, while others are less fertile. Factors such as nutrient imbalance, soil depletion, decreased organic content, and microbial activity affect soil fertility. To maintain the balance of soil nutrients and organic matter, it is necessary to add organic fertilizers to harmonize the nutrient content of the soil. Chemical fertilizers only provide one type of plant nutrient without improving soil properties. Socialization of organic fertilizers is needed so that people are wiser in maintaining soil fertility with organic materials. The community service was carried out to provide training and practice in making organic fertilizer from livestock manure and plant residues in Duku Candi Baru, Genting Village, Cepogo District, Boyolali Regency. This service activity uses two approaches, namely counseling and training. The extension stage is carried out by providing material about processing cow dung into organic fertilizer. Training is carried out by demonstrating how to make organic fertilizer in a simple way. This training begins with the socialization of making organic fertilizer and compost, which aims to make the community understand first about information about organic fertilizer and compost along with its benefits, then continued with the practice of making organic fertilizer and compost. This training educates the community about the use of organic waste for organic fertilizer in sustainable agriculture. Through a mixture of simple materials such as cow dung, vegetable waste, EM4, and molasses, it is hoped that the community will use organic fertilizers rather than chemical fertilizers for more environmentally friendly agricultural products.
