Abstract

Community education and literacy are essential foundations for developing high-quality human resources. This program aims to enhance educational quality through three main strategies: raising awareness of the importance of education, providing basic literacy training, and offering learning assistance for children. Awareness campaigns focus on engaging parents and communities to recognize education's role in improving welfare. Basic literacy training emphasizes reading, writing, and arithmetic as fundamental skills for children. Meanwhile, learning assistance provides direct support to help students overcome learning difficulties and improve motivation. The methods applied include interactive lectures, hands-on practice, and personalized guidance. The results indicate increased public understanding of the importance of education, improved children’s literacy skills, and the development of more positive study habits. This program is expected to serve as a sustainable model for empowering communities through education and literacy.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Sugihen Village apparatus in Juhar District, Karo Regency, by developing a participatory framework for resilient tourism. The program applied a participatory capacity building approach using the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method, which involved all village officials in socialization, group discussions, and the formulation of an initial action plan. Through workshops and interactive sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of Community-Based Tourism (CBT) and the importance of collaborative and sustainable governance in tourism development. The results indicate an increased awareness and understanding among village officials regarding their strategic role as local leaders in tourism resilience. Furthermore, the activity successfully built institutional commitment and produced a preliminary participatory framework to guide broader community involvement. Nonetheless, certain limitations were identified, particularly in technical skills such as digital marketing and destination management, requiring follow-up training and mentoring. Overall, this program demonstrates that the success of resilient tourism development must begin with the empowerment of local actors through continuous and collaborative social learning. Sugihen Village holds strong potential to become a best practice model for community-based tourism development in the Karo region.

Abstract

Community Service Activities are very beneficial for the community, in this case the community of Cimanis Village, Sobang District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten Province. Legal counseling regarding land certificates and land dispute resolution carried out in Sobang, provides enlightenment, motivation and increases insight into Land/Agrarian Law, namely that important land rights are proven by land deeds/certificates as evidence that has legal force. Land has economic value, the more the need for land, the higher the value of the land, inevitably resulting in increasing land conflicts. In addition to legal problems, the community can register their own land rights through Pendaftaran Tanah Sistmatis Lengkap (PTSL), so that it can speed up the process of issuing Badan Pertanahan Nasional (BPN). The implementation method applied to solve the problem of land certificates as the basis for rights and proof of land ownership through seminars accompanied by questions and answers in legal counseling delivered in Sobang District to the Cimanis Village Community. The importance of proof of ownership of land rights as the right of the residents of Cimanis Village, so that it can be followed up through Badan Pertanahan Nasional (BPN).

Abstract

The program to enrich the community's knowledge about local food is an effort to increase families' knowledge and awareness of nutritional needs, as this program provides education that focuses on the importance of consuming a variety of nutritious, balanced foods, utilizing the potential of local food to support family resilience and nutrition. The objective of this activity is to enrich the knowledge of communities living around forests about the revitalization of local foods in supporting food security for communities in Arus Village, Maybrat Regency. This community service approach uses a participatory approach in the form of socialization and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The community is now more open to utilizing local food in their daily diet, which contributes to their health and well-being. However, challenges in the accessibility of local food ingredients still need to be addressed to ensure the sustainability of the Food Security program. Overall, this Knowledge Enrichment program not only provides knowledge but also empowers the community to implement better nutritional practices, which in turn can improve their quality of life.

Abstract

Sustainable village development (village SDGs) is a form of implementation and contribution of villages in achieving national SDGs. BUMDes, as a business entity in the village area, has a significant role in village SDGs. Community Service (PKM) activities focus on literacy in managing sustainable BUMDes businesses by orienting themselves towards profit aspects and considering the village's social and environmental aspects. Therefore, PKM aims to increase knowledge of sustainability reports as a source of information in BUMDes' strategic decision-making. Participants in this PKM activity involved village heads and BUMDes administrators in 6 (six) villages that are members of the Association of Indonesian Village Governments (APDESI) in Wolasi District, Southeast Sulawesi Province. Six villages were implemented, focusing on Wolasi District, South Konawe Regency, involving 20 BUMDes administrators. The PKM implementation method uses three approaches, namely active presentations, discussions, and exercises. The results of the PKM activity showed the participants' enthusiasm for actively participating in each activity session. The evaluation results also demonstrated increased participants' understanding of aspects of village sustainability in general and Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in particular, as well as the role of sustainability reports as a critical source of information in supporting sustainable decision-making. The results of the PKM activities are expected to serve as a reference for the sustainable development of BUMDes managers who are members of APDESI in Wolasi District.

Abstract

The high open unemployment rate (TPT) among Vocational High School (SMK) graduates in Indonesia, reaching 9.01% as of August 2024, indicates a competency gap between graduates and industry needs. This gap is dominated by a deficit in soft skills, especially communication competence. This Community Service (PkM) program aims to enhance the work readiness of 12th-grade students at SMK AT-Taufiqiyyah by strengthening their organizational communication competencies. The program employed a blended-method approach, combining a presentation-lecture (cognitive knowledge transfer) and participatory, case-study-based Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) (practical skill application) for 50 students. Evaluation methods used quantitative pre-test/post-test to measure conceptual understanding, alongside qualitative observation during the FGDs. The results showed a highly significant increase in conceptual understanding, with the average pre-test score of 40.3 rising dramatically to 88.3 in the post-test (a 119.1% increase). Qualitatively, the FGD sessions demonstrated improved applied skills, active participation, collaboration, and the ability to apply theory. Student self-confidence in communication was also observed to increase. The blended-method approach (lecture + FGD) proved effective in bridging the theory-practice gap, enhancing holistic communication competence (cognitive, practical, affective), and supporting student work readiness.

Abstract

The rapid changes in the world of work due to technological developments, digitalization, and globalization require the readiness of adaptive, flexible, and competent Human Resources (HR). In this context, students at Vocational High Schools (SMK), especially SMK AT-Taufiqiyyah, as prospective future workforce, need to be equipped with competencies that are relevant to the needs of the current and future industries. These competencies not only include technical skills (hard skills), but also include Future Work Competencies such as critical thinking, adaptability, collaboration, digital literacy, effective communication, and mental resilience. The Student Creativity Program (PKM) aims to design a student human resource development program based on Future Work Competency to prepare them to face a dynamic and uncertain world of work. The approach used in this program is a combination of project-based training, soft skills training, and work environment simulation adapted to the challenges of the industrial world 4.0 and 5.0. This program is also designed to encourage the development of students who are competitive, innovative, and able to work collaboratively across fields. The program design method is carried out through several stages, namely: (1) identification of future competency needs through literature studies and interviews with industry, (2) mapping the conditions and needs of SMK AT-Taufiqiyyah students, (3) designing training modules and self-development activities based on future work competencies, and (4) limited trials of some students as pilot projects. It is hoped that this program can be a model for the development of vocational school human resources that is contextual and relevant to the dynamics of the job market. In addition, the results of this program can be used by the school to develop a long-term strategy in preparing graduates who are superior and ready to work in an era that continues to change.
