Abstract

The low level of financial literacy among housewives, particularly in understanding small-capital futures investment, remains a challenge in making safe and informed financial decisions. This community service activity aims to strengthen housewives’ financial literacy by improving their understanding of licensed futures brokers, risk principles, and mechanisms for initiating investments with affordable capital. The program was conducted offline using an educational and interactive approach, including material presentations, profit and loss calculation simulations, and open discussions. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of futures trading mechanisms, their ability to distinguish between legal and illegal brokers, and increased awareness of the potential returns and risks associated with small-capital investments. This activity also corrected the perception that investment always requires large funds, thereby encouraging more productive financial management and contributing to improved household welfare.

Abstract

Sexual education or sex education in early childhood is an important aspect in forming children's understanding of the body, personal boundaries, and the concepts of consent and safety. This education does not only focus on biological aspects, but also on ethical, social and emotional values that support children's healthy development. By providing age-appropriate information, children can better understand their bodies, recognize good and bad touch, and avoid the risk of sexual exploitation or violence. Not only that, the role of parents is also very important in looking after children in broadcasts on YouTube, television, in this case children often model what children have seen.

Abstract

Soil-transmitted helminth infections remain a major public health concern among elementary school children in Indonesia, with a prevalence rate of 31.8%. This community service program aimed to improve students’ knowledge of helminth infection prevention through structured health education. The activity targeted 17 fourth-grade students at SDN Girikulon and used an interactive discussion approach supported by PowerPoint presentations and animated videos. The program consisted of three stages: preparation, including coordination and development of learning materials; implementation, consisting of pre-test, material delivery, post-test, and discussion; and evaluation through comparison of test results. The findings showed a significant increase in knowledge, with average scores rising from 46.5 to 94.1 after the intervention. These results indicate that interactive health education effectively enhances students’ understanding of helminth prevention. For sustainability, collaboration with local health centers or the Health Office is recommended to expand program coverage and ensure equitable distribution of deworming medication to all students.

Abstract

This article presents the results of a Community Service Program (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat/PKM) conducted at SD Inpres Puukungu on Saturday, November 29, 2025. The program aimed to improve students’ understanding of Science and Social Studies (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial/IPAS) among upper-grade elementary students, specifically grades IV, V, and VI, through the use of audio-visual media and simple science teaching aids. The program was implemented in response to students’ low comprehension of science concepts caused by the predominant use of conventional teaching methods. The implementation of the program consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. During the implementation stage, learning materials on the Circulatory System as well as Ecosystems and Food Chains were delivered using instructional videos combined with demonstrations of simple teaching aids. This approach was based on constructivist learning theory, which emphasizes active student involvement in the learning process. The results indicated an improvement in students’ understanding of the learning materials. Students showed active participation and were able to respond well to evaluation questions. Therefore, the use of audio-visual media and simple teaching aids proved to be effective in enhancing the quality of IPAS learning. This community service program is expected to serve as an educational and practical learning model for science instruction in elementary schools.

The activity was conducted on October 19, 2025, at Glagah Beach, Kulon Progo Regency, involving 54 members of the Mandiri Sejahtera Association (Mandira) from the Karangkajen, Brontokusuman, and Mergangsan areas of Yogyakarta City. The methods used included lectures, question-and-answer sessions, interactive games, and assistance during tourism activities. The results showed that participants responded positively to the program. They appeared more enthusiastic, happier, and less bored, and gained new insights into the benefits of tourism for life in old age. The activity also created a more varied meeting atmosphere and enhanced social interaction among members.
