Another option for resolving today's educational issues is seen to be Islamic residential schools. The challenge facing today's educational system is coming up with complete, effective, and efficient learning activities that may boost students' learning efficacy and creativity. One of the biggest challenges in implementing education is management, particularly in pesantren, which is well-known in the community for having a traditional system that only focuses on religious science. For this reason, researchers are interested in contemporary boarding schools in an attempt to dispel misconceptions about Islamic boarding schools. The research method used is qualitative. Based on the study findings, it can be inferred that the effect of modernity has led to a general transformation of Islamic boarding schools. The contemporary Al-Rifa'ie boarding school is structured methodically, proficiently, and optimally, including several educational activities. The management includes: management management, infrastructure, human resources. Where from these three main things then succeeded in developing extracurricular and also other equipment related to increasing the effectiveness and creativity of student learning so as to make students more advanced and intelligent. The proof of success is the many achievements that have been achieved by students, both in religious competitions and also general competitions related to student creativity.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the experiential function of signposts at Nusa Lima Beach using a Functional Grammar approach. The study employs a qualitative method, emphasizing the understanding of meanings and experiences conveyed through language. The primary data source consists of sentences found on the signposts at Nusa Lima Beach, which were documented and transformed into full sentences for detailed analysis. The research was conducted through direct observation and documentation, ensuring comprehensive data collection. The Functional Grammar approach, developed by Michael Halliday, was utilized to analyze the experiential meaning within the ideational function of language. The findings reveal how the signposts' sentences communicate tourism experiences and their linguistic structure's function and purpose. The study concludes that the language used in these signposts effectively enhances the tourist experience by reflecting physical, mental, and relational experiences. The implications of this research extend to beach managers, providing insights for designing engaging and effective signage, and contribute to the academic field by bridging linguistics and tourism studies, demonstrating the utility of Functional Grammar in analyzing real-world language use in tourism contexts.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the urgency of understanding the obstacles in the implementation of the Independent  curriculum. The reality shows that the implementation of the Independent curriculum faces various obstacles. The aim of this study is to explore the obstacles faced by teachers when applying the Independent Curriculum in elementary schools. The method used is a literature review. Data was gathered from articles published between 2022 and 2024 through platforms Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and Garuda Kemdikbud. A total of 30 articles were identified, with 11 found to be relevant to the research topic. Data analysis includes determining the topic and research questions, collecting literature, developing inclusion and exclusion criteria, reading and analyzing the literature, synthesizing and organizing the information, and writing and revising the document. The results of the article reviews indicate that teachers face obstacles in implementing the independent curriculum during planning, execution, and assessment activities. These obstacles stem from local government, school principal's policies, and the capacity of teachers. The findings of this research are significant for teachers as a thorough understanding of these challenges can aid in developing more effective policies and strategies related to the Independent Curriculum, thereby enhancing its implementation in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study was focused on the investigation of the effect of using teaching methods on students’ Achievement in Writing Recount text. This study discovered the effect of using cooperative Integrated Reading and composition (CIRC) method on Student’ Writng Achievement. It was conducted by using students of SMP Negeri 4 Tanjungbalai divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The experimental group was taught by using CIRC method, while the control group was taught by using lecture method. The instrument of collecting data was writing recount test. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. It was also obtained that tobserved is higher ttable (2.603>1.673) at the level of significance (? = 0,05) and degree of freedom (df) = 58. It means that null hypothesis was successfully rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. The result of this study showed that teaching writing by using CIRC method was higher than by using lecturing method. It method is appropriate to be applied for writing.

Abstract

The industrial site visit to PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (INALUM) was conducted to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in metallurgical engineering education. This study employed a descriptive-analytical approach to evaluate the effectiveness of the visit in enhancing students’ understanding of aluminum production processes, engagement levels, and career readiness. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Results showed significant improvements in students’ comprehension of metallurgical processes, particularly the Hall-Héroult process, casting operations, and quality assurance practices. Engagement ratings across activities were consistently high, and career interest in the aluminum industry increased from 56% before the visit to 82% after. The findings highlight the value of experiential learning in aligning academic curricula with industry demands. Future studies could explore larger sample sizes, longitudinal impacts, and the inclusion of hands-on activities to further enhance learning outcomes and career aspirations. This research underscores the importance of industrial partnerships in preparing skilled and sustainability-conscious metallurgical engineers.

Abstract

Student learning achievement is one of the main indicators of success in the world of education. This achievement is not only influenced by internal factors of students, such as intellectual ability and motivation, but also by various external factors, including the quality of teaching provided by teachers and locus of control. This research is necessary to determine the degree to which teacher performance and locus of control are able to create an effective and supportive learning environment that ultimately has an impact on improving student learning achievement. Thirty teachers at Sultan Agung Private Junior High School Pematangsiantar participated in a survey as part of this study's quantitative methodology. Data is gathered by means of questionnaire distribution, recordkeeping, and interviews. SPSS is used to process the data. Quantitative descriptive analysis, which includes correlation and determination coefficients, F-test, t-test, multiple linear regression analysis, and basic linear regression analysis, is used to analyze the data. The study's findings demonstrated a strong positive correlation between locus of control and teacher effectiveness in raising student learning accomplishment. Enhancing student learning achievement is significantly impacted by both strong internal locus of control and effective teacher performance. This research provides important implications for education policies to improve the quality of teaching by paying attention to these two factors.
