Abstract

This research aims to improve students' ability to interpret narrative texts, especially in fractured fairy tale materials, through the application of the picture-picture method. The subjects of this study were students in class X-I SMAN 2 Pamekasan, with a total of 36 students. The method used is class action research (PTK) which is carried out in cycle II. Each cycle consists of the following stages: plannig, acting, observing, reflecting. The results of the pre-cycle stage showed that the average student score reached only 60, with a completion rate of 30%. After the actions in cycle I were implemented, the average increased to 65 with a completion percentage of 50%. In cycle II, student learning outcomes have increased significantly, with an average score of 80 and learning completeness increasing to 86.11%. This improvement shows that the picture and picture method is effective in helping students understand the content and storyline through visualization of images arranged sequentially. This method not only makes students more active and interested in the learning process, but also proven to be able to improve student learning outcomes in real terms

Abstract

This research aims to examine the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach based on ethnomathematics in the mathematics subject matter of composition and decomposition of flat shapes for sixth-grade students at Dukuh Kupang V Elementary School in Surabaya. This study uses a qualitative method with a one-shot case study design, conducted in one meeting lasting 2x35 minutes. The research subjects consisted of 21 students, and the data were collected through observations, formative tests, and interviews with the classroom teacher. The research results indicate that group learning using the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach based on ethnomathematics can enhance students' conceptual understanding, with an average group score reaching 93.5. However, when given individual assignments, the average score decreased to 51.4, indicating that group collaboration is more effective in supporting material understanding. Students' responses were generally positive towards this approach, although there were some challenges such as decreased concentration during individual sessions. The integration of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) and ethnomathematics can improve conceptual understanding if implemented with the right strategies and by considering students' learning dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes and student responses to the implementation of the Reciprocal Teaching learning model in fourth grade students. The Reciprocal Teaching model was chosen because it is considered capable of addressing students’ low computational comprehension skills through strategies such as summarizing, questioning, clarifying, and predicting the content of reading materials. The research method used is quantitative with a descriptive design. Data collection techniques involved evaluation tests and student response questionnaires. The research sample consisted of 9 students selected through stratified sampling based on their level of computational comprehension ability (high, medium, low). The data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis techniques. The results of the study show that the application of the Reciprocal Teaching model can improve students’ computational comprehension skills. This is evidenced by an increase in the average evaluation test score from 57 to 75 after implementing the learning model. In addition, the results of the student response questionnaire revealed that 80% of the students felt more motivated and found it easier to understand the material when using the Reciprocal Teaching model. These positive responses indicate that the Reciprocal Teaching model is not only effective in improving computational comprehension skills but also in enhancing students’ learning motivation. Therefore, the Reciprocal Teaching model can be considered an alternative instructional strategy that can be widely applied in elementary schools.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in learning to write argumentative essays. This study employs a quantitative approach with a one group pre-test post-test design. The subjects of the research are all students of class XI at SMA Nurul Iman NW Tammimi Lombok Tengah, totaling 20 people. Data collection techniques include tests, observations, and documentation. The statistical test used to test the hypothesis is the t-test. The analysis results show that the t-count value (3.257) is greater than the t-table value (1.729), which means there is a significant difference between the results of the pre-test and post-test. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, namely that there is a significant influence of the PBL model on students' argumentative essay writing skills. In conclusion, (1) the PBL model is effective for teaching argumentative essay writing, and (2) this model is more capable of improving student learning outcomes compared to conventional methods.
