Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance the professional competence of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) teachers in Menganti District through the development of contextual thematic modules based on local wisdom. The activity was initiated from a needs assessment indicating that most teachers still relied on nationally published modules without adapting them to the social and cultural context of their students. The implementation adopted a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach consisting of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), participatory observations, and document analysis of the developed modules, then analyzed using qualitative and descriptive quantitative methods.The results revealed a significant improvement in teachers’ pedagogical competence and creativity, with 90% of participants actively engaging in discussions, contributing local ideas, and demonstrating a better understanding of contextual module structures. The quality of the developed modules achieved an average score of 85.6% (categorized as very good), compared to only 68.3% (fair) for the publisher’s modules. Furthermore, the activity led to the establishment of the MI Menganti Module Developer Community (KPM-MI) as a collaborative platform for continuous development. This PKM program contributes to transforming learning practices into more contextual, reflective, and teacher-empowering approaches. Collaboration among lecturers, madrasahs, and educational communities emerged as a key factor in fostering innovative learning aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

This community engagement program addresses the issue of limited parental involvement in nurturing children’s creativity and environmental awareness in early childhood settings. Many parents tend to focus on academic outcomes rather than process-oriented learning, which restricts opportunities for children to explore, experiment, and develop creative thinking. The focus of this program is to strengthen the role of parents as primary facilitators in fostering creativity and ecological sensitivity through an ecoprint-based learning activity. The program aims to: (1) enhance parents’ practical skills and understanding of creativity-oriented parenting; (2) cultivate children’s creativity and fine motor development through hands-on ecoprint activities; and (3) build meaningful collaborative interactions between parents and children. The method employed is the “Parent-as-Facilitator” model combined with a learning by doing approach grounded in local flora wisdom. Strategies include capacity building workshops, mindset transformation sessions, activity-based engagement, and guided simulations of effective parenting communication and emotional regulation. The results of the community engagement show significant improvements in three aspects: (1) parents demonstrated greater competence in ecoprint techniques and adopted more supportive, process-oriented parenting behaviors; (2) children exhibited increased creativity, environmental awareness, and fine motor skills; and (3) family interactions became more positive through increased quality time and shared learning experiences. Overall, this program demonstrates that ecoprint can serve as an effective medium for integrating creativity development and environmental education within the family context.

Abstract

This study aims to assist the process of compiling the Arabic Writing book as a creative effort in developing learning media for writing the hijaiyah letters at TPQ Al Hidayah, Sidorejo,Medowo Village. The background of this study is the low ability of TPQ children in writing Arabic letters correctly, as well as the limited teaching materials that are appropriate to their developmental stage. The study used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method which emphasizes active collaboration between researchers, teachers, and parents in every stage of the activity. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and direct participation in the process of compiling and implementing the book. The results of the study show that the mentoring was carried out through several stages, namely identifying needs, preparing a book draft, limited trials, and evaluation. The implementation of the program produced significant impacts that were seen as children experiencing increased skills in writing the hijaiyah letters, teachers gaining experience in designing innovative teaching materials, and parents being helped in accompanying children learning at home. The success of this mentoring program was supported by community participation and a good cooperation model between all elements involved

Abstract

Marketing is a crucial aspect of business development, especially in the digital era where promotional strategies require continuous adaptation. The bottled water business managed by Pondok Pesantren Riyadus Samawi Ludoyo Kanigoro Blitar faces challenges due to limited understanding and application of digital marketing, resulting in low product recognition and suboptimal competitiveness. This community service activity focuses on strengthening the capacity of business managers in implementing relevant digital marketing strategies. Its objectives are to provide conceptual insights into digital marketing, assist in formulating promotional strategies, and encourage the application of digital marketing techniques in the operational management of the pesantren’s bottled water business. The method employed is the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, consisting of three stages: identifying and analyzing needs through observation, interviews, and discussions involving the service team, business managers, students, and the pesantren leadership; conducting a training session in the form of a workshop titled “Implementation of Digital Marketing Systems to Increase Bottled Water Sales” as a medium for knowledge and practice transfer; and carrying out participatory monitoring and evaluation to assess the implementation of materials and changes in marketing strategies after the activity. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of digital marketing concepts, the emergence of promotional initiatives using digital platforms, and initial changes in the marketing practices of the pesantren’s bottled water business. This approach provides a strategic foundation for developing more effective and sustainable marketing efforts.

Abstract

The limited English proficiency of students at Darul Muhmin Elementary School in Thailand constitutes a major challenge encountered during a three-month community service program conducted by Indonesian university students. The students experienced difficulties in understanding basic vocabulary, simple sentence structures, and were not accustomed to using English in their daily lives. This condition was influenced by limited exposure to English and the lack of varied instructional methods. This community service activity aimed to foster students’ interest in learning English, provide an enjoyable learning experience, and improve their mastery of vocabulary and pronunciation. The method employed in this program was a qualitative descriptive approach using Communicative Language Teaching. The implementation of the program was carried out through three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The instructional strategies included vocabulary reinforcement, the introduction of basic grammar, and the habituation of daily conversation adjusted to the students’ proficiency levels. Learning media utilized in this program consisted of printed images, educational songs, whiteboards, and simple technological tools such as mobile phones and Bluetooth speakers. Evaluation was conducted through direct observation of students’ participation, responses, and their ability to comprehend and use basic English vocabulary. The results indicated an increase in students’ learning enthusiasm, improved basic English comprehension, and enhanced self-confidence in using English. This activity demonstrates that simple teaching methods combined with a communicative and enjoyable approach can effectively enhance basic English proficiency among elementary school students in Thailand with limited access to English learning.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the competency of elementary school teachers in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digitalizing learning in Limbangan District, Garut Regency. Digital transformation requires teachers to have technological literacy beyond basic skills, but field findings indicate that MI teachers' digital competency remains at a low level, especially in AI integration, digital learning design, and interactive media production. The activity was carried out through a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach that involved teachers as active partners in the know, understand, plan, act, reflect, and evaluate stages. A total of 30 teachers from 10 MIs were involved in practice-based training, mentoring, learning simulations, and AI-based media production. Data were obtained through pretests and posttests, observations, interviews, and structured reflections. The program results showed a significant increase in teachers' understanding and skills in using AI-based tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Canva AI) and in designing more interactive digital learning. The pretest confirmed that teachers' initial competency was in the low category, especially in the TPACK and technology integration aspects. After the training, teachers demonstrated improved skills in developing digital lesson plans, creating AI-based automated teaching media, and implementing digital assessments in their learning. Teacher reflections demonstrated a shift in pedagogical behavior toward more creative, responsive, and technology-based practices. The PAR cycle was effective in strengthening digital readiness and enhancing teacher self-efficacy. This program demonstrated that practice-based interventions, ongoing mentoring, and community collaboration can accelerate the transformation of MI teachers' digital competencies in a contextual and measurable manner.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping the quality of human resources, particularly in fostering higher-order thinking skills and children's creativity in the globalization era. Nevertheless, creative development in rural areas remains suboptimal due to limited experiential art-based learning programs. This community service program aimed to assist children's creativity through the practice of shibori tie-dye batik using the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. The activity was conducted on 22–23 November 2025 in Sembung Village, Wringinanom District, Gresik Regency, involving 27 children as participants. The mentoring stages followed the ABCD framework: define, discover, dream, design, and deliver, focusing on direct introduction and practice of folding, binding, and dyeing textile techniques. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and short interviews to measure creativity improvement indicators such as motif diversity, color combinations, and experimentation courage. The results indicated a significant increase in children's creativity and independence in performing each batik-making stage, along with enhanced character formation in patience, accuracy, responsibility, and social cooperation. Participants expressed sustained interest due to the interactive, enjoyable, and meaningful learning experience. This program is recommended as an effective, culturally-based creative mentoring model that supports children's potential development in rural communities

Abstract

Abstrak The issue facing madrasah teachers at the Riyadhus Samawi Lodoyo Islamic Boarding School in Blitar is low digital literacy and skills in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology as a learning medium. Teachers still rely on conventional methods, requiring coaching to improve their ability to integrate AI. The focus of the community service program is directed at improving teachers' competency in understanding, operating, and utilizing AI applications to produce creative, interactive, and relevant Islamic education learning media. The goal of this community service is to improve madrasah teachers' understanding and skills in using AI technology to develop Islamic education learning media. Furthermore, this activity aims to build teacher confidence in implementing digital technology and encourage the development of a culture of innovative learning within the Islamic boarding school environment. The activities were carried out in several stages, namely: (1) analysis of teacher needs related to the use of technology; (2) basic training on the concepts and ethics of using AI; (3) workshops on creating AI-based learning media such as presentation design, digital modules, and educational videos; and (4) ongoing mentoring for the application of AI in learning. The approaches used were capacity building, training workshops, and practice-based mentoring. Participatory Action Research (PAR) was chosen because it emphasizes collaboration between the community service team and the teacher community at every stage of the activity. PAR allows for collaborative problem identification, action planning, implementation, and evaluation, resulting in more relevant and applicable results. The community service activities demonstrated that teachers experienced significant improvements in their digital competencies. Teachers were able to use various AI applications to create more engaging and interactive Islamic learning media. The resulting learning products were more varied, including learning videos, digital modules, and AI-based presentation materials. Furthermore, these activities increased teachers' motivation to continue innovating and built a technology-based learning ecosystem within the Riyadhus Samawi Lodoyo–Blitar Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

Character education is a structured effort to instill moral values, ethics, and virtues in students as preparation for facing future challenges. The purpose of this study is to examine the importance of character education and the strategies for its implementation in enhancing tolerance and empathy within the school environment. The method used is the service-learning approach within a community engagement program to gain an in-depth understanding of how the integration of community service and learning can mutually reinforce one another and provide real benefits for students. The research design applied is Participatory Action Research (PAR). This approach enables researchers to collaborate directly with students in every stage of the research process, including planning, implementing activities, and evaluating the community service program. Overall, the findings indicate that the Service Learning approach is highly effective in shaping students’ attitudes of tolerance and empathy. The study shows that character education implemented through teacher role modeling, a positive school culture, and the integration of values into learning activities can significantly enhance students’ social attitudes and positive behaviors. Thus, character education plays a strategic role in developing a generation that is virtuous, possesses integrity, and is capable of contributing to society.

Abstract

Abstract The acceleration of halal certification for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in Bojonegoro faces significant challenges, primarily due to low digital literacy and administrative barriers. This community service aims to accelerate the self-declare halal certification process through a Community Based Research (CBR) approach. The intervention strategy involves the implementation of a "Halal Mobile Clinic" to provide on-the-spot services and the empowerment of local cadres as "Halal Champions." The service stages include participatory diagnosis, planning, action (capacity building and mobile services), and reflection. The results show a significant impact, marked by a surge in the issuance of 55 halal certificates within two months and the formation of a sustainable assistance ecosystem led by local cadres. The mobile clinic strategy successfully reduced transaction costs and psychological barriers for MSEs, while Halal Champions effectively bridged the trust gap between the community and regulators. This program proves that the hybrid model combining digital technology with a humanist approach is effective in increasing the halal compliance of MSEs in rural areas. Abstrak Percepatan sertifikasi halal bagi Usaha Mikro dan Kecil (UMK) di Kabupaten Bojonegoro menghadapi kendala signifikan, terutama akibat rendahnya literasi digital dan hambatan administratif. Pengabdian ini bertujuan mengakselerasi proses sertifikasi halal skema self declare melalui pendekatan Community Based Research (CBR). Strategi intervensi dilakukan melalui implementasi "Klinik Mobile Halal" untuk layanan jemput bola dan pemberdayaan kader lokal sebagai "Halal Champion". Tahapan pengabdian meliputi diagnosa partisipatif, perencanaan, aksi (pelatihan kapasitas dan layanan keliling), serta refleksi. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan dampak signifikan, ditandai dengan lonjakan penerbitan 55 sertifikat halal dalam kurun waktu dua bulan serta terbentuknya ekosistem pendampingan berkelanjutan yang dimotori oleh kader lokal. Strategi klinik mobile berhasil memangkas biaya transaksi dan hambatan psikologis UMK, sementara Halal Champion efektif menjembatani kesenjangan kepercayaan antara komunitas dan regulator. Program ini membuktikan bahwa model hybrid kombinasi teknologi digital dengan pendekatan humanis efektif meningkatkan kepatuhan halal UMK di daerah Kata Kunci: Self Declare Halal; Community Based Research; Klinik Mobile; Halal Champion; Pemberdayaan UMK.
