Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) over the past decade has significantly transformed the educational landscape, including the increasing use of AI platforms by students to complete academic tasks. This phenomenon raises concerns regarding the potential decline in students’ critical thinking skills due to excessive reliance on technology. This study aims to analyze school management strategies in addressing AI dependency and its impact on students’ critical thinking skills at SMA Ma’arif 1 Pamekasan. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that AI usage among students is widespread, particularly for writing essays, summarizing materials, and preparing presentations. However, the school has not established formal policies regulating AI usage, resulting in fragmented and uncoordinated responses from teachers. High dependency on AI tends to correlate with a decline in students’ argumentation quality and analytical abilities. Nevertheless, AI also holds potential as an effective learning tool when used strategically and supported by adequate digital literacy. The SWOT analysis reveals strengths in the school’s foundational values and teachers’ adaptability, while weaknesses include the absence of formal policies, limited training, and insufficient evaluation systems. This study recommends developing clear AI usage policies, enhancing digital literacy for teachers and students, designing higher-order thinking-based learning, and implementing data-driven monitoring systems to ensure the productive use of AI while maintaining students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence has significantly transformed educational practices, including teaching, learning, and academic management. AI-based technologies such as intelligent tutoring systems, automated assessment, and generative AI applications provide new opportunities to enhance learning efficiency and accessibility. Nevertheless, the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence in education also brings a number of ethical concerns, including issues related to academic integrity, risks to data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the possible weakening of students’ critical thinking skills. Within the sphere of Islamic education, these concerns underline the importance of establishing an ethical framework that harmonizes technological advancement with Islamic moral principles. Therefore, this study seeks to formulate an ethical framework for the application of artificial intelligence in Islamic education by integrating the principles of Maqasid Shariah with contemporary digital learning practices. This research applies a qualitative conceptual approach through a literature review and thematic analysis. The findings suggest that the principles of Maqasid Shariah can serve as an ethical foundation for AI use in education, particularly in protecting intellect, religion, human dignity, and academic integrity. This framework is expected to guide Islamic educational institutions in integrating AI technologies responsibly.

Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence has brought significant changes to the education system, including in Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze the integration of spiritual leadership values with the use of Artificial Intelligence in educational management and to formulate an effective spiritual leadership model to improve the quality of educational management at Gedangan Islamic Boarding School. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted thematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the integration of spiritual leadership values with the use of Artificial Intelligence is carried out by positioning technology as a learning support tool that remains based on the spiritual values of Islamic boarding schools. The spiritual leadership model is realized through four main principles: academic integrity in the use of artificial intelligence, selectivity in filtering digital information, exemplary behavior in the ethical and proportional use of technology, and scientific deepening by making artificial intelligence a learning aid, not a substitute for scientific authority. These findings indicate that spiritual leadership is capable of shaping ethical, selective, and constructive technology utilization governance in Islamic boarding school education management in the era of Artificial Intelligence.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and artificial intelligence in the era of Industry 4.0 has brought significant changes to children’s lives, particularly in how they interact, learn, and build moral awareness thereby creating an urgent need for technology ethics education from an early age. Studies on futuristic children’s literature have mostly focused on representations of technology, digital literacy, and future imagination, while the integration of technology ethics and children’s spirituality remains limited. This study aims to examine how futuristic children’s literature represents spirituality-based technology ethics education through narratives that build digital-spiritual ethical awareness and the imagination of future ethics. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with narrative analysis of the novel The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. The findings indicate that futuristic children’s literature is able to fosters ethical awareness through relationships, empathy, and self-restraint, and project the imagination of future ethics oriented toward moral responsibility.

Abstract

Managing education is about bringing together many people toward a common goal. There, we find shared characters and various dynamics. To unite these people requires a common determination and passion, based on honesty, integrity, and sincerity from all parties. This is the urgency of spiritual values in educational management. This paper attempts to offer several practical steps and analyze the obstacles to integrating spiritual values into educational management. Using a bibliographic approach combined with field facts, the author explores concepts and offers alternative approaches to educational management. Ultimately, the author finds that educational institutions are not profit-driven businesses. Likewise, educational actors (teachers, education personnel, and students) are not inanimate objects, like mechanical devices ready to be moved. They have feelings, empathy, need appreciation, and also need satisfaction from their work. The existence of alumni who contribute fully to community development is the pinnacle of their work success. Educational success is no longer measured by how high a grade is obtained, but by the extent to which alumni are useful in real life. This paper theoretically contributes to the development of educational management science, particularly in the field of human resource development. It also practically contributes to improving the quality of education in the field of developing human resources with character based on spiritual values.

Abstract

Leadership in Islam does not emerge from the imagination of its adherents but is summarized in the Quran and the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. This study aims to describe Leadership in an Islamic Perspective, Basic Foundations of Islamic Leadership, Normative Foundations of Islamic Leadership, Essential Principles of Leadership in Islam, and the Prophetic Leadership Paradigm. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the PRISMA model, a series of evidence-based minimums to assist in reporting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The results of the study indicate that Islamic leadership is a leadership concept based on the example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW who balances success in various aspects of life. Based on the Quran and Hadith, Islamic leadership is based on the principles of monotheism, equality, Islamic unity, deliberation, justice, and welfare. An Islamic leader must uphold the principles of trust, fairness, shura, and amr bi al-ma'ruf wa nahy 'an al-munkar, aimed at influencing other people to sincerely follow instructions as a reflection of obedience to Allah SWT.

Abstract

The escalating competitive dynamics and shifting public preferences in the era of digital disruption necessitate Islamic educational institutions to reconstruct their public communication strategies. Numerous madrasas and Islamic schools are experiencing stagnant student enrollment due to conventional and fragmented public relations approaches. This situation highlights the urgency to formulate strategic communication guidelines, enabling institutions to overcome enrollment stagnation. This research aims to synthesize Public Relations (PR) management strategies proven effective in boosting the interest of prospective students. Employing the Kitchenham model of Systematic Literature Review (SLR), 10 published empirical journal articles (2021-2025) were collected and extracted. Based on thematic analysis, four primary strategic pillars were identified: (1) optimizing digital-based PR management (Cyber Public Relations) to facilitate interactive communication; (2) strategic planning involving stakeholder participation (committees, parents, community); (3) synergizing direct outreach with partnership networks; and (4) strengthening branding through service differentiation and religious values. The findings assert that increasing student enrollment heavily relies on transforming the PR role from a mere technical implementer to a strategic managerial function capable of adapting to technological innovations without compromising the institution's Islamic identity.

Abstract

The digital transformation of education in Indonesia has evolved from basic service digitization toward data-driven governance increasingly reliant on artificial intelligence. While the integration of artificial intelligence in educational governance promises administrative efficiency and optimized decision-making, it simultaneously raises ethical concerns related to algorithmic bias, accountability, transparency, and the potential erosion of humanistic educational values. This study aims to critically analyze the ethical implications of artificial intelligence deployment in Indonesian educational governance and examine its relevance to strengthening religious moderation as a strategic national education agenda. The research employs a qualitative approach using a critical literature review design combined with policy analysis. Data were drawn from reputable scholarly publications, international policy frameworks, and national regulations concerning digital transformation and religious moderation. The analysis proceeded through thematic identification, normative evaluation grounded in principles of algorithmic justice and human-centered governance, and contextual synthesis within Indonesia’s plural socio-religious landscape. The findings indicate that without a robust ethical framework, artificial intelligence-driven governance risks reproducing structural inequalities and narrowing pluralistic dialogue. This study proposes a conceptual ethical governance model aligned with religious moderation, emphasizing risk mapping, ethical design protocols, meaningful human oversight, public accountability mechanisms, and continuous evaluation. The model offers a normative and operational reference for policymakers and educational institutions to ensure that digital transformation remains aligned with justice, inclusivity, and social cohesion.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines how conflict management enhances organizational effectiveness in Islamic educational institutions amid digital transformation. Guided by PRISMA, 15 peer-reviewed studies (2020–2025) were thematically synthesized from an initial pool of 350 records. Findings indicate that conflicts primarily stem from interpersonal, structural, and value-based dynamics. Collaborative and compromise strategies yield the most positive organizational outcomes, with transformational leadership serving as a critical mediator. This study’s novelty lies in integrating contemporary conflict theory with Islamic deliberative ethics (musyawarah), which prioritizes justice, inclusivity, and collective responsibility. However, digital-era conflict dynamics remain underexplored. Overall, constructive conflict management significantly strengthens institutional stability, trust, and educational service quality. The review proposes an integrative framework aligning conflict resolution strategies, adaptive leadership, dialogic communication, Islamic values, and digital governance. Practically, institutional leaders should institutionalize preventive, data-informed conflict systems tailored to digitally evolving environments. The study also highlights the need for standardized effectiveness metrics and longitudinal, mixed-method research to validate these dynamics. Ultimately, conflict should be reconceptualized as a strategic lever for organizational resilience and innovation in Islamic education.

Abstract

Reward and punishment are human resource management strategies widely implemented in educational organizations to improve teacher performance. This study aims to analyze the impact of reward and punishment on teacher performance, job satisfaction, and loyalty based on a literature review from various recent national and international journals. The method used is a literature review, examining and analyzing relevant scientific articles. The results show that reward has a positive and significant impact on improving teacher performance, job satisfaction, and loyalty to the educational institution. Rewards, both financial and non-financial, such as professional recognition and career development opportunities, have been proven to enhance both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of teachers. Meanwhile, punishment has a more complex impact; in certain contexts, it can improve discipline and performance, but if applied disproportionately, it can potentially decrease satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, the application of reward is more recommended as the main strategy in educational management, while punishment should be used selectively, fairly, and educationally. These findings have implications for school principals and education managers in designing effective and sustainable teacher performance management policies.
