Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia are the largest business units that support the country's economy. In Mangunharjo District, Tugu District, Semarang City, there are several groups of MSMEs which are mainly engaged in the food processing industry. However, MSME owners face various challenges, such as a lack of marketing methods. As a result, many MSMEs only produce food products when there is an order and rely on consignment at the nearest shop for a limited period of time. This problem requires a solution that can overcome the concerns of MSME owners, one of which is by changing marketing methods. Currently, MSMEs in the regions only rely on traditional marketing methods. By holding training activities for the public about the benefits of digital marketing, it is hoped that MSME owners can change their perspective and adopt more modern marketing methods. Through evaluations carried out after training, the MSME group has started to utilize digital platforms to market their products. The results show that MSMEs are starting to get used to digital marketing to increase sales value.

Abstract

Batik Jembatan Akar Small and Medium Industry (IKM) endeavors to produce Root Bridge batik fabric, which is a defining feature of the IV Nagari Bayang Utara sub-district. In its production process, IKM Batik Jembatan Akar still relies on rudimentary and traditional equipment and lacks the means to handle textile waste, leading to its disposal in nearby ditches. While the current waste output may not be significant, its continuation poses a threat to the local environment. Insufficient awareness of the environmental impact of textile waste can result in environmental pollution issues and disrupt community harmony around IKM Jembatan Akar. Additionally, IKM Batik Jembatan Akar struggles to stimulate consumer interest in traditional batik amidst the abundance of low-priced printed alternatives. The limited demand for production means that this SME has yet to invest in technology and waste processing equipment for its batik cloth production. Politeknik ATI Padang Community Service initiative seeks to educate all IKM Batik Jembatan Akar employees on the importance of waste processing and online marketing strategies, while providing training on donated textile waste processing equipment to enhance sales value and mitigate environmental harm. The approaches employed in this community service endeavor include (1) comprehensive activity planning, encompassing location surveys, production assessments, and inventory checks; (2) the fabrication and testing of waste processing machinery; (3) educational workshops covering waste management in batik production and its environmental implications, alongside practical training in equipment usage; (4) evaluation of activity outcomes. The outcomes of this Community Service initiative include the provision of textile waste processing equipment and a heightened awareness of environmental conservation, facilitating the integration of waste processing equipment into batik production at IKM Batik Jembatan Akar.

Abstract

Waste from the tofu industry is a byproduct of the tofu production process that can have negative environmental impacts if not managed properly. CV. Dapur Tahu still discharges liquid waste directly into the river, posing a potential threat of river water pollution. Although a new reservoir and waste disposal channel are under construction, there is currently no effective waste treatment facility in place. To address this issue, a tofu wastewater treatment facility utilizing filtration technology is proposed due to its simplicity of operation, durability, and high efficiency in removing organic contaminants. The technology comprises a multi-stage filtration process involving sand filters (pumice, zeolite, and activated charcoal) combined with ultrafiltration membrane technology, complemented by a monitoring system consisting of TDS, pH, and temperature sensors. The multi-stage filtration process is capable of reducing TDS levels to 160 ppm, resulting in visibly clearer wastewater compared to the initial turbid white condition. The installation of IoT-based monitoring devices in the wastewater treatment process significantly aids in real-time water quality monitoring, accessible via mobile phone screens.

Abstract

Coffee is one of the leading commodities in Sriwulan Village, Kendal. This certainly has great potential for the economy to grow the MSME movement in the local community. The superior product that has been marketed is ground coffee in general which has quite a high caffeine content. Coffee with low caffeine content is currently a trend on the market and is popular with many health-conscious people. At the industrial level, widely developed decaffeination processes often use imported technology, both at the hardware and software level, which results in the price of low-caffeinated coffee still being relatively high. Limited public access to information regarding decaffeination techniques in coffee means consumers of low-caffeine coffee are willing to pay high prices to get a product that suits their tastes. The process of decaffeinating coffee beans can add value to the selling value of Indonesian coffee commodities, especially in Sriwulan Village, Kendal Regency. The aim of this service activity is to provide education and equipment assistance to the Sriwulan Village community about low-caffeine coffee and its production process to more attractive packaging, so that partner communities can take advantage of this to improve the economy of Sriwulan Village. The method of implementing this activity is carried out through the survey stage, training and monitoring stages. The implementation stage is carried out by processing coffee beans that have been peeled and dried in the sun, then steamed at a temperature of 100oC for 90 minutes. Coffee beans that have been steamed are ready to be dried and roasted according to the steps usually carried out by coffee farmers in Sriwulan Village. This service succeeded in increasing the understanding and interest of coffee producers in Sriwulan Village to develop low-caffeine coffee products. The program implemented can produce coffee beans that experience a reduction in caffeine levels of up to 80.8% after testing caffeine levels.

Abstract

The development of dairy farming in Nagari Lasi District Canduang, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province, has provided the materials a massive source of biogas production. The number of cattle in Nagari Lasi has reached around 1000 heads, plus other livestock such as Buffaloes and Goats. The manufacture of digesters in the previous year's Community service activities was a success. It produces biogas and is used for cheese production and household supply. However, the amount of biogas produced is still tiny. To realize "Community-Independent Energy," power generator installation is necessary. The biogas supply must be in large quantities and available continuously for the generator to operate. Biogas currently produced by the digester is insufficient to produce the biogas required by the generator. Therefore, biogas production capacity needs to be improved by expanding the volume of the digester that will be processing cow dung into biogas. Increasing digester capacity has significantly increased biogas production, reaching 12 m3 per day. This amount is enough to be used as fuel for an electric generator continuously.

Abstract

Rendang, a traditional Minangkabau dish from West Sumatra, Indonesia, has gained international recognition and has inspired many entrepreneurs to promote this cuisine globally. One such entrepreneur is CV. Kuliner Makmur Sejahtera (KMS), which produces rendang under the brand Katuju. To enhance operational efficiency and support global market expansion, KMS requires an improved inventory management system. The primary challenge is the difficulty in monitoring inventory and tracking products without a barcode system. This community service program aims to address this issue by implementing barcode technology on Katuju's product packaging. The activities include designing, creating, and printing barcodes, as well as training KMS staff on how to use them. The process starts with observation and interviews to identify needs, followed by barcode design and production using an online barcode generator, and testing the barcode functionality with a scanning system. The results indicate that the community service team successfully trained KMS in barcode creation and printing, and integrated barcodes into product packaging. Evaluation through questionnaires showed participant satisfaction with the program and readiness to apply the barcode system to their products. This program is expected to improve inventory management, data accuracy, and support CV. KMS's global market expansion by providing tools necessary for efficient product tracking and valuable consumer data collection.
