SCHOULID: Indonesian Journal of School Counseling (ISSN-elektronict: 2548-3226 and ISSN-print: 2548-3234) first published in December 2016 is a peer-reviewed scientific International open access journal. The journal previously published by Indonesian Counselor Association and from Volume 2 issue 2 2017 published by Indonesian Institute for Counseling, Education and Theraphy (IICET) in colaboration with Indonesian Counselor Association. The journal is dedicated to publishing articles concerned with research, theory, or program applications pertinent to school counseling and people who have interests in all areas of counseling and school development. The aim of this journal is to give design and support for school counselor efforts to help students focus on academic, career and social/emotional development so they achieve success in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.

Abstract

The urgency of this study lies in the increasing prevalence of internet gaming disorder among students, which has begun to disrupt their focus, discipline, and motivation to learn. As excessive gaming behavior continues to rise, it poses a serious threat to students’ academic performance and personal development. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the extent of its impact on learning motivation to enable guidance and counseling teachers to design effective preventive and intervention strategies in the school setting. This study investigates the effect of internet gaming disorder on students’ learning motivation at SMK Islam PB Soedirman 1 Jakarta using a quantitative survey of 120 students. Simple linear regression analysis shows a significant negative effect (β = -0.488; p < 0.05), indicating that higher gaming addiction lowers learning motivation. Internet gaming disorder contributes 35.6% to the variance in motivation, with the remaining 64.4% influenced by other factors. These findings emphasize the importance of guidance and counseling support in preventing and addressing gaming-related motivation decline.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology demands vocational education that is more inclusive and aligned with contemporary economic needs. However, vocational learning for students with intellectual disabilities in special schools generally remains focused on product creation without integrating digital marketing skills. This study aims to develop an adaptive vocational curriculum based on digital marketing for students with intellectual disabilities at SLB C Payakumbuh. The research employed a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE model, encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages to produce an adaptive digital marketing–based vocational curriculum module. Data were collected through needs assessment, expert validation, observation, and interviews, and analyzed descriptively. The results indicate that the developed curriculum module is feasible for use, improves teachers’ understanding of digital marketing–based vocational learning, and supports students’ initial abilities to market vocational products with varying levels of independence. This study highlights the importance of integrating digital marketing into vocational curricula to support the empowerment and early economic independence of students with intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

Teachers often experience prolonged work-related stress that can negatively affect psychological well-being and physical health, including functional dyspepsia. This study aimed to examine how teachers achieve flourishing despite significant work stress, with a focus on coping strategies and the role of self-compassion as an internal psychological mechanism. Specifically, this study investigated the effect of coping strategies on flourishing, the effect of coping strategies on self-compassion, the effect of self-compassion on flourishing, and the mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between coping strategies and flourishing among teachers with functional dyspepsia. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing self-report scales to 200 teachers who met the criteria of the R4-FDDQ Functional Dyspepsia screening test. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with JASP version 0.19.3.0. The results indicated that the data met validity and reliability requirements and that the proposed model demonstrated a good fit. Coping strategies were found to have a significant effect on flourishing and self-compassion. However, self-compassion did not significantly influence flourishing and did not function as a mediating variable between coping strategies and flourishing. In addressing problems, teachers with functional dyspepsia tended to prioritize religious coping and mindfulness over other indicators. Nevertheless, the common humanity dimension of self-compassion appeared to be inconsistent with flourishing, as prolonged illness contributed to feelings of isolation and hindered the development of positive social connections.

Abstract

This systematic review investigates the effects of website-based learning on student motivation and vocabulary mastery in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. Guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework, thirty-five empirical studies published between 2013 and 2024 were selected from major academic databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, ERIC, and Google Scholar. The review synthesizes evidence on how web-based platforms—such as learning management systems, interactive vocabulary websites, multimedia environments, and gamified tools—support motivational engagement and lexical development. The findings indicate that website-based learning consistently enhances learner motivation by promoting autonomy, reducing anxiety, and increasing enjoyment through interactive and gamified features. Flexible access, immediate feedback, and personalized learning pathways further contribute to sustained engagement. In terms of vocabulary mastery, web-based instruction significantly improves word recognition, recall, retention, and contextual usage. Platforms integrating multimedia input, spaced repetition, and contextualized tasks show the strongest effects on vocabulary acquisition. Despite its benefits, several challenges were identified, including unequal access to technology, limited digital literacy, and the risk of reduced teacher–student interaction. Nonetheless, the overall evidence suggests that website-based learning provides substantial advantages over traditional methods when supported by appropriate pedagogical design. This review concludes that integrating website-based instruction into EFL classrooms can meaningfully enhance motivation and vocabulary learning, while future research should explore long-term impacts and platform effectiveness across diverse learner populations.

Abstract

Metode tafsir maudhu’i merupakan salah satu pendekatan penafsiran al-Qur’an yang berkembang pesat dalam kajian tafsir kontemporer, terutama karena kemampuannya menyajikan pemahaman tematik yang sistematis dan kontekstual. Namun, penerapan metode ini tidak terlepas dari berbagai persoalan metodologis yang memerlukan kajian kritis. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara kritis metode tafsir maudhu’i dengan menitikberatkan pada tiga tahapan utama, yaitu pengembangan tema, pengumpulan ayat, dan penafsiran komprehensif al-Qur’an. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan (library research) terhadap karya-karya klasik dan kontemporer dalam bidang tafsir dan ulum al-Qur’an. Data dianalisis melalui teknik analisis isi dan komparatif untuk mengidentifikasi pola, kekuatan, serta kelemahan metodologis dalam penerapan tafsir maudhu’i. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tafsir maudhu’i memiliki potensi besar dalam menjawab problematika umat secara tematik dan integratif, tetapi juga mengandung risiko subjektivitas, selektivitas ayat, dan simplifikasi makna apabila tidak diterapkan secara metodologis dan disiplin. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan kerangka epistemologis tafsir maudhu’i melalui penentuan tema yang berlandaskan teks, pengumpulan ayat yang komprehensif, serta integrasi ulum al-Qur’an dalam proses penafsiran. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat berkontribusi pada pengembangan kajian tafsir al-Qur’an yang lebih kritis, sistematis, dan bertanggung jawab secara ilmiah.

Abstract

Studi Al-Qur’an kontemporer menghadapi persoalan metodologis berupa fragmentasi pendekatan tafsir, di mana tafsir klasik, pendekatan kontekstual-interdisipliner, dan hermeneutika modern sering dikembangkan secara terpisah dan saling dipertentangkan. Kondisi ini menimbulkan ketegangan epistemologis antara upaya menjaga otoritas teks wahyu dan tuntutan kontekstualisasi makna dalam merespons persoalan sosial modern. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dinamika epistemologis tersebut dengan menelaah secara kritis relasi, keterbatasan, dan peluang integrasi antara tafsir klasik, tafsir kontekstual, dan hermeneutika modern. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi kepustakaan terhadap literatur akademik relevan, yang dianalisis melalui kategorisasi tematik, analisis komparatif, dan kritik epistemologis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tafsir klasik berfungsi sebagai fondasi normatif yang menjaga otoritas teks tetapi terbatas secara kontekstual; pendekatan kontekstual berperan adaptif melalui orientasi nilai dan maqāṣid; sementara hermeneutika modern bersifat reflektif-kritis namun berisiko relativisme tanpa kontrol metodologis. Abstract

Kenakalan remaja merupakan salah satu fenomena sosial yang kerap muncul pada masa perkembangan siswa remaja, terutama dipicu oleh pengaruh teman sebaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bentuk-bentuk kenakalan remaja di SMP Negeri 13 Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Data diperoleh melalui subjek yang diambil secara snowball sampling dari siswa yang pernah terlibat melakukan kenakalan, serta guru BK di SMP Negeri 13 Medan. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik anaklisis data dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan; 1) bentuk kenakalan siswa berupa, bolos, mencontek, berbicara kasar, merokok, berkelahi, dan mengganggu proses belajar; 2) Proses terjadinya kenakalan umumnya berawal dari pengaruh teman sebaya, dimana siswa terdorong mengikuti perilaku kelompok demi memperoleh penerimaan sosial; 3) strategi penolakan ajakan kenakalan dilakukan siswa dengan menghindari kelompok tertentu, bersikap asertif, maupun mencari dukungan dari teman yang lebih positif; 4) guru BK berperan penting memberikan layanan konseling, pembinaan, serta menjalin kerja sama dengan guru mata pelajaran dan orang tua dalam mengawasi serta membimbing siswa. Dapat disimpulkan, pengaruh teman sebaya sangat kuat terhadap munculnya kenakalan, namun dapat diminimalisir melalui penguatan keterampilan asertivitas siswa, peningkatan dukungan sosial positif, dan optimalisasi peran guru BK.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the role-play method in enhancing English-speaking skills among secondary EFL learners. Speaking skill constitutes a fundamental component of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction, particularly at the secondary level where communicative competence is a primary learning objective. Nevertheless, many learners continue to experience difficulties in oral communication, including low self-confidence, limited vocabulary mastery, and insufficient opportunities for meaningful interaction, which are often associated with the predominance of conventional teacher-centered instructional practices, especially in religious-based educational settings. To address this issue, this study employed a quasi-experimental research design using a pretest–post-test control group approach. Participants were assigned to an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was instructed using the role-play method, while the control group received conventional teaching instruction. A speaking performance test was administered as both a pretest and a post-test, and students’ speaking abilities were evaluated based on fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehensibility. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. The results indicated that both groups demonstrated comparable speaking abilities prior to the intervention. However, following the implementation of the role-play method, the experimental group showed a significantly greater improvement in English-speaking skills compared to the control group, with a statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level. These findings suggest that the role-play method is an effective instructional strategy for enhancing speaking competence and offers pedagogical implications for communicative-oriented EFL instruction, particularly within Islamic boarding school contexts.

Abstract

Sementara dunia terus dilanda krisis kesehatan mental global, sistem layanan yang ada saat ini sebagian besar bersifat reaktif, hanya membantu orang setelah mereka mencapai tahap krisis. Makalah konseptual ini mengusulkan Ekosistem Berlapis untuk Pengelolaan Kesehatan Mental Proaktif sebagai solusi yang dapat memperbaiki struktur layanan, membuka jalan untuk fokus pada pencegahan dini dan pemeliharaan kesejahteraan daripada sekadar penyembuhan. Model yang diusulkan di sini terdiri dari empat lapisan yang saling terkait secara fungsional: pertama, pengumpulan data sensorik yang menggunakan sumber pasif dan aktif; kedua, mesin analitik prediktif yang mengeluarkan sinyal peringatan dini; ketiga, pengiriman intervensi mikro; dan terakhir, keterlibatan manusia sebagai pemeriksaan klinis akhir. Selain mengusulkan tipologi intervensi yang mencakup aspek kognitif, perilaku, sosial, dan digital, makalah ini juga mengkritik “Paradoks Privasi-Personalisasi” dengan mengusulkan solusi etis seperti minimalisme data dan kontrol pengguna yang transparan. Dengan menetapkan ukuran kinerja baru seperti tingkat keterlibatan dan penurunan peristiwa eskalasi, struktur ini diharapkan menjadi panduan untuk mengembangkan teknologi kesehatan mental yang tidak hanya cerdas tetapi juga mampu membangun kepercayaan dan otonomi pengguna
