Abstract

The application of a three-strata system (TSS)-based forage planting and processing system has an effect on increasing livestock productivity. This service aims to provide technical guidance to farmers regarding the planting of animal feed forage (AFF) based on the three-strata system. Through this activity, it is expected that farmers can optimise land use, increase forage productivity, and ultimately increase their income. Activities were carried out in 2024 in Wuura Village, Mowila District, South Konawe Regency, in the form of Technical Guidance to the Walaka Mepokoaso Livestock Group. The material provided focuses on AFF planting techniques with a three-strata system approach. The activity stages include preparation of tools and materials, implementation of technical guidance, and evaluation and monitoring. The results of the activity showed that the technical guidance provided effective education to farmers, so that they were able to overcome problems in raising livestock. In addition, the application of the three-strata system has a positive impact on the cultivation of forage.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the health problems experienced by many elderly and requires a holistic and sustainable management approach. One complementary therapy that can help overcome stress and lower blood pressure is lavender aromatherapy (Lavandula angustifolia). The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the knowledge of the elderly about hypertension and the use of lavender aromatherapy as a complementary therapy. This activity was carried out on May 16-17, 2025, at the Matahari Posyandu, Guntung Paikat Village, Banjarbaru City, with a participatory education method involving the elderly as active participants, totaling 22. Education is delivered through visual media, simple language, and interactive discussions to ensure optimal comprehension. The results showed a significant increase in the elderly's knowledge about the benefits, how to use, and the safety of lavender essential oil. In addition, their understanding of the integration between medical medicine and complementary therapy has also improved. This community service activity proves that the right educational approach can empower the elderly to manage hypertension independently and improve their quality of life.

Abstract

The community service activity was carried out as an effort to enhance understanding of the development of the 3A components in supporting the potential of dusung as an agrotourism attraction in Negeri Soya. The understanding and involvement of dusung owners and the local government play a crucial role in supporting the future development of this tourism asset. This community service activity aimed to increase the interest and understanding of dusung landowners and village officials in Soya Village in developing the natural resource potential within the dusung area as a Community-based ecotourism (CBE) agro-tourism destination. The methods used included socialization sessions, focus group discussions, and field observations. The activity was carried out over the course of one week and involved local community members and village authorities as participants in the community engagement program. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding of the concepts of agro-tourism, the 3A components (Attraction, Accessibility, Amenities), CBE principles, and the impacts of tourism development. Pre-test and post-test results indicated an increase in comprehension, with approximately 90–98% improvement across all questions following the program's implementation.

Abstract

Indonesian nutmeg is preferred by the world market, because it has several advantages compared to nutmeg from other countries, the advantages include high oil yield and a distinctive aroma. In Negeri Watui, the majority of people work as farmers and show considerable interest in cultivating nutmeg plants. This interest is not only driven by the economic potential of nutmeg plants, but also by the availability of supporting agricultural land and easy access to seeds. However, the limited knowledge of the community about nutmeg cultivation techniques makes them hesitate to start. One of the main obstacles is the assumption that nutmeg cultivation techniques are quite complicated, especially in terms of selecting superior seeds, creating shade, arranging the right planting distance, and maintenance such as pruning, embroidery, and fertilization which require special technical precision and understanding. Therefore, this training was carried out to answer the community's need for adequate technical knowledge and build self-confidence in cultivating nutmeg plants sustainably. And they really hope for training on how to cultivate nutmeg plants so that it can increase the knowledge of farmer groups about nutmeg cultivation and foster the community's interest in creativity related to the development of natural resources.

Abstract

Native chickens are among the livestock commonly raised in rural areas and have great potential to meet household food needs and supplement family income. Seruawan Village, located at an altitude of 5–10 meters above sea level, borders Kamarian Village to the east, Kairatu Village to the west, the Seram Sea to the south, and the mountains to the north. Poultry farming in this area is generally traditional, with limited human intervention in management, such as simple housing, ownership, and the provision of basic supplementary feed like kitchen waste. This community service program aims to increase the productivity of native chickens through the selection of superior breeding stock and the utilization of fishery and agricultural waste. The specific objectives are: (1) to improve farmers’ knowledge and skills in crossbreeding and selective breeding using superior strains such as KUB, super, and Bangkok chickens; (2) to train and motivate farmers to enhance management systems and become local breeders; and (3) to encourage proper record-keeping practices. The program targets local poultry farmer groups who are willing to adopt new innovations to improve production and family welfare. Its success is reflected in farmers’ increased attention and active participation during training and demonstration activities.

Abstract

The free-range chicken farming group in Wundubatu Village faces problems of low productivity due to low natural egg hatch rates (40–50%) and dependence on parent stock. This community service program aims to introduce and apply appropriate technology in the form of a simple hatching machine to increase the hatchability of native chicken eggs. The implementation methods include coordination with partners, operational training on the hatching machine, technical assistance, and hatching trials. The results of the activity showed an increase in hatchability to 80-85%, an increase in the number of chicks produced, and an increase in farmers' knowledge and skills in artificial hatching management.

Abstract

This community engagement program was designed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of residents in Wahai Village, North Seram, in responding to medical emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest, choking, and loss of consciousness. The primary focus was on Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), as timely intervention is widely recognized to improve survival outcomes before professional medical assistance becomes available. The program was implemented through structured health education, demonstrations, guided hands-on practice, and case-based simulations to ensure comprehensibility and applicability for the general community. In addition to the training, a social service initiative was conducted, providing free medical care including general health examinations, specialist consultations, and distribution of essential medications. The activity was delivered by a multidisciplinary health team comprising general practitioners, specialists, and medical students, in collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Internal Medicine (PAPDI) Maluku. The outcomes demonstrated strong community participation, enhanced first aid competence, and improved communication between healthcare providers and the community. This program is expected to foster greater community preparedness in emergencies and reinforce their role in preventive and promotive health efforts.

The methods used included material delivery, interactive discussions, case studies, and simulations of inclusion-based village planning. This service involved various elements of society, such as traditional leaders, religious leaders, village officials, women, youth, and representatives of vulnerable groups. Through this service, participants gained a deep understanding of the importance of participatory, transparent, and socially just village governance. The results of the service showed an increase in participants' knowledge, awareness, and practical skills in preparing inclusion-based village work plans and in identifying the needs of vulnerable groups. Furthermore, this community service program fosters a shared commitment and collective awareness to integrate inclusive principles into sustainable village development policies and practices. Overall, this PKM community service program contributes to strengthening inclusive and responsive village governance to community diversity and serves as a first step toward establishing equitable, participatory, and well-being-oriented village policies.
