Abstract

The paper examines the idea of Islamization of human knowledge as formulated by Professor Dr. Mohd. Kamal Hassan (1942-2023). It aims to survey its thoughtful and lasting impact as reflected in the context of his inspiring moral, spiritual and religious ideal that influence intellectual tradition and meyaphysical consciousness and contemporary landscape of educational policy and practice in Malaysia. The philosophy and conceptual framework of Islamization of knowledge he developed was realized in the curriculum and policies of the International Islamic University Malaysia, whose structural formation and ideology was enshrined in the University’s constitution since its establishment in 1983. The study is based on qualitative method, in the form of literature review and documentary survey. The data were scientifically analyzed using descriptive, analytical, historical and synthesis framework to make an objective and acccurate finding. The finding shows that Prof. Kamal has made an important and influential impact in gearing the ideas of tawhidic worldview, through his inspiring works that planned and implemented the principle of Islamization of knowledge in Malaysia. The study contributes to highlight his consequential and unprecedented concept and holistic approaches in introducing a comprehensive theory and values of tawhid and its cultural manifestation through the theory of Islamization (Islamiyyatul ma‘rifat), integration of knowledge and values (takamul al-ma‘rifi), comprehensive excellence and Islamicization that help to reset the current context and progress of education and intellectual life in Malaysia.

Abstract

In the modern technological era, family resilience faces complex challenges. Islamic education plays a crucial role in strengthening family bonds with solid values. Wise utilization of technology enables Islamic education to adapt to the evolving times, maintain relevance, and enhance family resilience in navigating global dynamics. This study describes the role of Islamic education in improving family resilience in the modern technological era through relevant strategies and implementations. The research method used is descriptive analysis with a literature review, referring to written sources such as books, encyclopedias, and scientific journals. The data is coded, analyzed categorically, and structured into a logical, systematic, and reflective narrative.  The findings indicate that Islamic education is essential in instilling moral values, guiding families in overcoming technological challenges, and managing stress through spiritual practices and a holistic approach. Furthermore, Islamic education supports the balance between career and personal life, strengthens economic stability through skill development, and fosters solidarity within the community. The implementation of Islamic values in strengthening family resilience includes character development based on noble ethics, effective communication, clear role distribution, spirituality cultivation, health education, and socio-economic skill development. Values such as honesty, empathy, compassion, and trustworthiness help families navigate modern challenges with harmony, tranquility, and resilience. Through this approach, families become more robust and adaptive to the changing times.

Abstract

This study seeks to develop a model for integrative Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning design grounded in 21st-century competencies as a comprehensive strategy to support the realization of Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045. Employing a library research methodology, the study adopts a content analysis approach that draws upon credible and authoritative literature, including scholarly journals, academic books, and educational policy documents. The findings reveal that existing PAI learning planning models remain predominantly oriented toward cognitive achievement, with limited integration of key 21st-century competencies: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication (4C). The novelty of this research lies in its formulation of a conceptual framework that synthesizes 21st-century competency principles with the value-based nature of Islamic education, thereby producing a learning design that is both responsive to global dynamics and aligned with the Pancasila Student Profile. Furthermore, this study recommends future empirical investigations, such as experimental or field-based research, to evaluate the model’s practical effectiveness across various educational levels and institutions. Consequently, the proposed model is expected to make a substantive and meaningful contribution to the transformation of PAI learning in advancing Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045.

Abstract

Ibn Taymiyya’s intellectual contributions have played a pivotal role in shaping the concept of holistic education within Islam, particularly in the framework of contemporary Islamic pedagogy. This study aims to explore how his ideas can inform and enhance educational models that integrate intellectual, spiritual, and moral dimensions. Employing a qualitative methodology with a library research approach, the study critically examines Ibn Taymiyya’s works on education and evaluates their relevance to modern educational practices. The findings indicate that his thought advocates for the synthesis of revealed knowledge and rational inquiry, positioning the principle of monotheism as the foundational basis for cultivating a resilient Muslim character. Moreover, his emphasis on ethics and practical moral engagement aligns closely with holistic educational principles, which seek to balance cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development. Consequently, Ibn Taymiyya’s educational philosophy can serve as a strategic reference for designing Islamic education systems that uphold core religious values while addressing contemporary societal challenges.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the development of the Malay language, particularly the Pasai Malay, which played a significant role in forming the foundation of modern Malay and contributed to the emergence of the national language, Bahasa Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach through library research, this study examines various historical and philological sources relevant to understanding the spread and influence of Pasai Malay throughout the archipelago. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and narratively, emphasizing the historical, social, and religious factors underlying the dissemination of this language. The findings indicate that there are three main reasons for the wide spread and strong influence of Pasai Malay. First, through the dissemination of religious literary works by prominent scholars such as Hamzah Fansuri, Syamsuddin al-Sumatrani, Nuruddin ar-Raniri, and Abdurrauf al-Singkili, along with their disciples, who introduced Islamic concepts in the Malay language. Second, through the use of Pasai Malay as a medium of instruction in Islamic educational institutions attended by students from various regions of the archipelago. Third, through the circulation of religious literature and translated works widely used in pesantren and Islamic learning centers, which established Pasai Malay as the primary foundation for the development of modern Malay.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relevance of Islamic educational values to the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 from the perspective of the Qur’an. Indonesia Emas 2045 represents the national aspiration to realize a developed, competitive, just, and morally upright nation. Islamic education, as a system grounded in divine values, plays a fundamental role in shaping human resources that are intellectually, spiritually, and morally excellent. This research employs a qualitative approach using the thematic exegesis (tafsīr maudhu‘ī) method, analyzing Qur’anic verses related to education, human potential development, and character formation. The findings indicate that Qur’anic values such as integrity, responsibility, wisdom, competence, intelligence, and moral virtue constitute the core foundation for the holistic development of the Indonesian people. These values provide the ethical and spiritual basis for Islamic education in preparing a generation that is characterized, productive, and globally competitive. Thus, Islamic education from the Qur’anic perspective has a strong relevance in supporting the realization of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision—an advanced, civilized nation oriented toward the common good.

Abstract

The transformation of Islamic education in the digital era demands new approaches capable of bridging scholarly tradition and technological innovation. This article examines the reconstruction of Mabādi’ ‘Asyrah—the ten foundational principles of knowledge in Islamic tradition—as an ontological and epistemological framework for designing a Humanoid Assistant for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Teacher. Employing a reflective qualitative methodology grounded in Islamic educational philosophy, this study integrates classical and contemporary sources to formulate an AI-based learning system that is ethical, spiritual, and contextually attuned. The findings reveal that each principle of Mabādi’ ‘Asyrah can be translated into design elements, interaction modalities, and content structures of the Humanoid, encompassing system definitions, objects of inquiry, and underlying dalīl shar‘ī. This integration significantly reshapes the relationship between teacher, learner, and technology, while opening pathways for the decolonization of Islamic educational technology. By adopting Mabādi’ ‘Asyrah as a guiding framework, the Humanoid Assistant for PAI emerges not merely as a technological tool, but as a pedagogical entity that holistically supports the formation of the insān kāmil.

Abstract

This study examines the strengthening of religious values in cyberspace in Indonesia and Pakistan two countries with the world’s largest Muslim populations and significant influence on contemporary Islamic discourse. The rapid advancement of digital technology and the widespread use of social media have created new arenas for religious transmission, especially among younger generations who are deeply engaged in online communication. In Indonesia, platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok are extensively used by preachers to convey Islamic teachings in creative, simplified, and engaging formats, reflecting an approach rooted in Islamic moderation (Wasathiyah). In contrast, in Pakistan, digital preaching has also flourished but tends to adopt a more conservative tone and operates under stricter government regulation due to historical sectarian tensions and concerns about extremist influence. Employing a qualitative approach with interactive analysis techniques, this study investigates the roles of governments, religious institutions, and civil society in shaping religious narratives within digital spaces. The findings reveal that while both countries acknowledge the transformative potential of cyberspace for promoting religious education and identity formation, they also face persistent challenges such as radicalization, misinformation, and online hate speech. Consequently, the study underscores the importance of strengthening digital religious literacy and fostering collaborative regulatory frameworks to ensure that cyberspace evolves into an inclusive, constructive, and peaceful environment for reinforcing Islamic values. These insights contribute to broader academic discussions on religion, media, and the transformation of Islamic education in the digital age.
