Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the RICOSRE model on students' socioscientific decision-making skills. This type of research was quasi-experimental with a pretest posttest non-equivalent control group design. The sample of the study consisted of class X1 (RICOSRE), X5 (PBL) and X2 (Conventional). The instruments used are in the form of learning tools and question sheets describing socioscientific decision-making skills. Analysis of research data used analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and further tests to see real differences from the effect of independent variables using the Least Significant Different (LSD) test or the Least Significant Difference Test (LSD). The results of the analysis show that there is an influence of the learning model on socioscientific decision-making skills with an Fcount of 132.31 with a significance level of 0.00 <0.05. The class with the RICOSRE learning model has the highest score increase of 97.36%. The RICOSRE learning model demonstrates a statistically significant difference compared to the PBL and conventional learning models. These findings indicate that the RICOSRE model is effective and can be recommended as an alternative problem-based learning approach to enhance students’ decision-making skills. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model RICOSRE terhadap keterampilan socioscientific decision making siswa. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pretest posttest non-equivalent control group design.  Sampel dari penelitian terdiri dari kelas X1 (RICOSRE), X5 (PBL) dan X2 (Konvensional). Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu berupa perangkat pembelajaran dan lembar soal uraian keterampilan socioscientific decision making. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan analisis kovarian (ANCOVA) dan uji lanjut untuk melihat perbedaan nyata dari pengaruh variabel bebas menggunakan  uji Least Significant Different (LSD) atau Uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT). Hasil analisis menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran terhadap keterampilan socioscientific decision making dengan Fhitung sebesar 132,31 dengan taraf signifikansi sebesar 0,00 < 0,05. Kelas dengan model pembelajaran RICOSRE memiliki peningkatan nilai tertinggi yaitu sebesar 97,36%. Pembelajaran model RICOSRE berbeda nyata dengan model PBL dan konvensional.

Abstract

The Laboratory Activity Design (DKL) in schools still does not support the construction of student knowledge because it only focuses on verification, such as in bone practicums. Therefore, an evaluation of the DKL used in schools is needed. This study analyzed and revised one DKL through a qualitative descriptive method using Vee Diagram analysis. The results showed that the DKL was in the low category and needed improvement in terms of title, objectives, tools, materials, procedures, data interpretation, and questions in order to improve student understanding and make practicums more meaningful for students. Abstrak. Desain Kegiatan Laboratorium (DKL) yang ada di sekolah masih kurang mendukung konstruksi pengetahuan siswa karena hanya berfokus pada verifikasi, seperti pada praktikum tulang. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan evaluasi terhadap DKL yang digunakan di sekolah. Penelitian ini menganalisis dan merevisi satu DKL melalui metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis Diagram Vee. Hasilnya menunjukkan DKL tersebut termasuk kategori rendah dan memerlukan perbaikan dari segi judul, tujuan, alat, bahan, prosedur, interpretasi data, hingga pertanyaan agar dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa dan membuat praktikum lebih bermakna bagi siswa.

Abstract

This research aims to find out more about efforts to increase numeracy literacy skill of class VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Prambon by utilizing the Think, Pair, Share learning model with the support of case videos. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted collaboratively with class teachers in 2 cycles. The subjects in this research were 13 grade VII students of SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Prambon. Methods of gathering data include observation, interviews, assessments, field notes, and documentation. The assessment consists of questions tailored to the benchmarks of numeracy literacy skills. The question format is a descriptive. The study’s findings indicated that there was a rise in numerical literacy prooficiency in every measure. The firs indicator in cycle 1 had an average value of 63, then in cycle 2 it became 81. The second indicator in cycle 1 had an average value of 62, then in cycle 2 it increased to 78. The third indicator in cycle 1 had an average value of 63, then in cycle 2 the average value was 80. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of Think, Pair, Share learning model with the support of case videos can improve students numeracy literacy skill. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see the effect of ethnoscience-based learning integration on students' science process skills using the project based learning model. This study used the Quasi Experiment method with a nonequivalent control group design. Samples were taken by random sampling and taken as many as three classes, namely the control class using the problem based learning model, experimental class 1 was given treatment using the Project Based Learning model, experimental class 2 was given treatment using the Project Based Learning model based on ethnoscience. The results showed that the integration of ethnoscience-based learning using the Project Based Learning model had an effect on students' science process skills. Abstrak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh integrasi pembelajaran berbasis etnosains terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran project based learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Quasi Eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Sampel diambil secara random sampling dan diambil sebanyak tig akelas yaitu kelas control yang menggunakan model problem based learning, kelas eksperimen 1 diberikan perlakuan menggunakan model Project Based Learning, kelas eksperimen 2 diberikan perlakuan menggunakan model Project Based Learning berbasis etnosains. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi pembelajaran berbasis etnosains dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran Project Based Learning berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa.

Abstract

Lower-level botany learning has been carried out using conventional lecture methods. Learning becomes less meaningful for students because students tend to be passive. The purpose of this study was to see how students perceive the application of the project-based learning (PjBL) model in lower-level botany courses. This research was conducted using a quantitative research model with a survey method. Data collection was carried out by giving questionnaires to students. As many as 85.7% of students stated that they felt that their understanding of lower-level botany had improved and 80% expressed interest in lower-level botany learning with PjBl. As many as 82.9% stated that they were able to design a terrarium well and 85.7% were able to state that PjBl helped them identify the morphology of cryptogamae. As many as 74.3% of students stated that they were motivated by group cooperation and 71.4% of them were able to link theory and practice. The final result was that 88.6% of students felt that this learning method improved their understanding of cryptogamae. Overall, low-level botany learning with PjBL for biology education students at Mulawarman University can improve students' understanding and interest in low-level botany courses. Abstract

This study aims to develop a pocket book on conventional biotechnology sub-material developed from the isolation, characterization, and phylogenetic relationships of lactic acid bacteria in mandai. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model. The ADDIE model consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. This study utilizes three stages of the ADDIE model: Analysis, Design, and Development. During the analysis stage, needs were identified through interviews with biology teachers in grade X at SMA Negeri 1 Sampit, which revealed the absence of learning media based on local potential. The design stage produced a pocket book design based on the learning outcomes of the Merdeka Curriculum, incorporating conventional biotechnology content, research results on the isolation and characterization of bacteria, and the phylogenetic relationships of lactic acid bacteria. The development stage produced a 9 x 12 cm pocket book consisting of 34 pages, which was then validated by five validators. The validation results showed an average Content Validity Ratio (CVR) of 0.99, which is considered valid. Thus, the pocket book is deemed suitable for use as a learning medium for the sub-subject of Conventional Biotechnology based on local potential at the high school level. Abstract

This study aims to develop an instructional medium in the form of a booklet based on the ethnobotany of local vegetables found in Semitau District, to be used as a learning resource on biodiversity for tenth-grade high school students. The background of this research is rooted in the lack of integration of local potential into the biology learning process in schools, which has resulted in students’ limited understanding of the importance of conserving biological resources in their surroundings. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4-D model, which was modified into a 3-D model consisting of define, design, and develop stages. The research procedure included needs analysis of teachers and students, identification of local vegetable species, and the design and validation of the booklet. Validation results by experts indicated that the developed booklet had a high level of validity, with an average score of 87.22% from media experts, 84.44% from material experts, and 78.44% from language experts. Trials conducted with students on a small and large scale showed highly positive responses, with percentages of 84.61% and 87.72%,respectively. Therefore, the ethnobotany-based local vegetable booklet developed in this study is considered highly valid and feasible to be used as a learning medium for biodiversity material.  Key words: Booklet, Ethnobotany, Local Vegetables, Biodiversity, Learning Media

Abstract

The present study focuses on the development of KASIBUM (Interactive Scan Cards of Plant Parts), a learning medium designed to enhance science literacy among fourth-grade elementary school students. KASIBUM consists of printed cards embedded with QR codes that allow students to access educational videos when scanned. The development process followed the ASSURE model, which includes the stages: Analyze Learners, State Objectives, Select Methods, Utilize Media and Materials, Require Learner Participation, and Evaluate and Revise. The media underwent validation by both subject matter and media experts, feasibility testing by a classroom teacher, and effectiveness testing through a pretest–posttest design involving 16 fourth-grade students from SDN Sawentar 4. The validation results indicated high levels of validity, with scores of 88% from the subject expert and 96% from the media expert. The teacher's assessment also confirmed the media's high feasibility (96%). Furthermore, the average N-Gain score obtained from the pretest and posttest results was 0.81, which falls into the high category. In conclusion, KASIBUM is a valid, feasible, and effective medium for enhancing elementary students’ science literacy. Key words: KASIBUM, scientific literacy, learning media, plant parts, QR Code

Abstract

The low problem-solving ability of students in science learning is a major problem in facing the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to analyze the implementation of SSI-based science learning and its impact on students' problem-solving skills, as well as to assess the effectiveness of SSI-based science learning on students' problem-solving skills. The method used is a Quasi-Experimental design by applying a Pretest-Posttest Nonequivalent Group Design. Sampling techniques were conducted through random sampling, resulting in class VIII B as the experimental class and VIII A as the control class. The research instruments consisted of observation sheets and 25 multiple-choice questions that measure indicators of problem-solving skills. The results show that SSI-based science learning can be implemented very well and has a significant effect on problem-solving skills, with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000. In addition, SSI-based science learning also shows a fairly effective category compared to the control class, as evidenced by the results of the N-Gain test analysis reaching 65.32%. Thus, SSI-based science learning is proven to be quite effective in improving student problem solving skills on additive materials, and can be used as a contextual and relevant learning alternative in shaping students to think critically about scientific issues in the surrounding environment. Abstract

This study aims to develop TTS media based on the Teams Games Tournament model and to determine the validity, practicality, effectiveness, motivation, and learning outcomes in science material. The method used in this study is the 4D development model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The product trial was conducted on 25 students in class VII MTs As-Salam Palembang, also involving one science teacher as a respondent for the practicality test. The results showed that after validation by language experts, materials, media, learning devices and teaching materials, it was obtained that the average indicator for language was 78%, material 78%, and media 79% with good and valid qualifications. In learning devices, the average indicator was 94% and teaching materials 84% with very good qualifications and very valid information. The results of the expert assessment of media practicality obtained an average indicator, namely 86% of teachers with valid qualifications and 84% of students with very strong qualifications. Based on the results of the tabulation of student response data on the effectiveness of the biology TTS media, a percentage of 81.16% was obtained with a very high category. Then the value of student responses to learning activities was 88.05 with very good criteria. This study shows that the TTS media based on the Teams Games Tournament model developed has met the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. High validity indicates that the content and media developed are in accordance with learning standards. High practicality from teachers and students indicates that this media is easy to use and helps in the learning process. Increased motivation and learning outcomes are classified as moderate indicating that the use of this media can have a positive impact on students' understanding of concepts. However, in the future this media can continue to be refined to be able to produce higher improvements. It can be concluded that by using TTS media, students can be motivated in the learning process because they learn while playing.
