Abstract

To respond to the challenges of 21st-century education and the Industrial Revolution 4.0, students are required to master higher-order thinking skills, including creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in improving students’ problem-solving skills within educational institutions. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research was conducted in two educational institutions with different characteristics. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and analysis of students’ project work. The validity of the data was ensured through triangulation techniques and informant verification. The findings reveal that the implementation of PjBL significantly enhances student engagement, learning motivation, and collaborative competencies. Furthermore, it fosters a solution-oriented mindset and reflective thinking among students. The integration of Islamic values within project activities makes learning more contextual and meaningful, positively influencing students’ attitudes and daily behavior. In addition, teachers demonstrate increased creativity and adaptability in managing student-centered learning environments. Overall, PjBL proves to be an effective pedagogical strategy in improving students’ problem-solving skills and aligns well with the principles of the Independent Curriculum. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the At-Tiqrar method in improving the quality of Qur’an memorization among students at Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qur’an. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon that many students still experience difficulties in maintaining memorization consistency, weak long-term retention, and a lack of systematic learning strategies in traditional tahfidz programs. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving five key respondents, namely the pesantren leader (R1), a tahfidz teacher (R2), a supervisor/musyrif (R3), and two active students (R4 and R5). Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques, with source triangulation to ensure validity. The findings reveal that the At-Tiqrar method is effective in improving the quality of memorization, particularly in fluency, accuracy of recitation, and long-term retention. The method works through structured and repetitive learning, which strengthens students’ memory and supports better mastery of Qur’anic verses. In addition, the success of its implementation is strongly influenced by structured learning systems, intensive mentoring from teachers and supervisors, as well as institutional support from the pesantren. However, several challenges were identified, including student boredom, individual differences in memorization ability, and limited time allocation. Despite these challenges, adaptive strategies such as method variation and motivational approaches were applied to maintain learning effectiveness. The study concludes that the At-Tiqrar method is an effective and contextual innovation in tahfidz learning, contributing both theoretically and practically to the development of Qur’anic education in Islamic boarding schools in the modern era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of agility strategies at Al-Mashduqiyyah Islamic Boarding School, Patokan Probolinggo, in responding to change and the demands of modern education. The study focuses on curriculum management, the role of pesantren caregivers (kyai), and pesantren culture as the foundation of institutional resilience. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design, in which data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The selection of informants was conducted purposively to ensure the richness and relevance of the data obtained from key stakeholders within the pesantren environment. The findings indicate that agility strategies at Al-Mashduqiyyah are realized through flexible and contextual curriculum management by integrating the religious curriculum based on kitab kuning with the national formal curriculum. This integration enables students to achieve a balanced competence between religious mastery and general academic skills. The pesantren caregivers play a central role in promoting organizational agility through monitoring changes, making adaptive decisions, and delegating authority to administrators and educators in a structured yet dynamic manner. Moreover, the pesantren culture, which upholds the values of deliberation (musyawarah), discipline, sincerity, and respect for tradition, functions as a key pillar in maintaining a balance between innovation and the preservation of pesantren values. These cultural values strengthen institutional identity while simultaneously encouraging responsiveness to external challenges. Therefore, the agility strategy implemented at Al-Mashduqiyyah Islamic Boarding School is not only an adaptive response to change but also a sustainability strategy rooted in the values and culture of the pesantren, ensuring its long-term relevance and institutional continuity in the modern educational landscape

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in shaping students’ character and higher-order thinking skills; however, learning practices at the junior high school level remain predominantly conventional and teacher-centered, resulting in limited stimulation of students’ problem-solving abilities. This study aims to (1) examine the implementation of the Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) approach, (2) identify the challenges encountered by teachers, and (3) analyze its impact on students’ problem-solving skills in PAI learning. The research was conducted at Muhammad Shodiq Maron Middle School and Sunan Bonang Maron Middle School, located in Probolinggo, East Java, Indonesia. This study employed a qualitative method with a case study approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings reveal that IBL is systematically implemented through several stages, including orientation, problem formulation, investigation, data analysis, and reflection. In this process, teachers function as facilitators who guide students in constructing knowledge, while students actively engage in critical inquiry, collaborative discussion, and problem-solving activities. Although several challenges were identified, particularly related to limited instructional time and varying levels of teacher readiness in designing inquiry-based activities, the implementation of IBL demonstrated significant positive outcomes. It enhanced students’ active participation, confidence in expressing ideas, critical thinking capacity, and ability to relate learning materials to real-life contexts. In conclusion, the IBL approach is effective in improving students’ problem-solving skills in PAI learning and fostering critical, reflective, and solution-oriented learners, making it highly relevant for 21st-century contextual education.

Abstract

This study analyzes how word-of-mouth (WOM) is used as an organic marketing strategy in faith-based educational institutions, especially its influence on the perception and decisions of prospective students. The research was conducted by quantitative surveys, collecting data from active students, alumni, and parents through structured questionnaires and supporting documents from institutions. The results show that the positive experiences of students, the credibility of mentors and teachers, and recommendations from senior students and alumni greatly influence the decision of prospective students. Data analysis showed positive experiences contributed the most, followed by the credibility of sources and peer recommendations. This confirms that direct interaction is more influential than formal promotion. Digital media is only an additional channel of information, while interpersonal interaction remains a major factor in the effectiveness of WOM. This study concludes that WOM in faith-based educational institutions runs through social interaction and trusted personal networks, thus becoming an effective and efficient marketing strategy. The implication of this research is that institutional managers can improve their reputation and attract prospective students by creating positive experiences, strengthening the role of mentors and seniors, and documenting original testimonials to optimize organic marketing strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Customer Perceived Value (CPV) in Islamic education management by integrating academic service quality with blessing orientation, highlighting both functional and spiritual dimensions of student experience. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, with data collected through documentation, observation, and semi-structured interviews. Analysis followed systematic stages of data reduction, data display, and verification, using content analysis, discourse analysis, and interpretive approaches to capture both rational and experiential insights. Findings indicate that academic service quality significantly contributes to student satisfaction and comfort, while blessing orientation encompasses meaning, serenity, and depth of the learning experience. The integration of these dimensions produces a holistic CPV, extending beyond conventional functional aspects to include emotional and spiritual elements. The study underscores the importance for Islamic educational institutions to harmonize service quality with spiritual values to enhance the overall educational experience, providing a foundation for designing policies and strategies that address students’ comprehensive needs, fostering meaningful, contextually relevant, and spiritually enriching learning environments.

Abstract

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Regulation Number 13 of 2025 directs the national curriculum toward a deep learning approach with a primary focus on the intracurricular path. However, the regulation does not yet technically govern the integration mechanism between intracurricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular paths. This condition results in a policy gap and policy vacuum that leads to the fragmentation of students' learning experiences in the field. This qualitative research, utilizing literature study and policy analysis, aims to examine this policy gap and formulate a systemic curricular integration model. The findings indicate that the absence of integration regulations results in the repetition of learning materials, which hinders the achievement of deep learning and creates administrative excesses for teachers in the form of duplicated planning and assessment documents. As a solution, this study proposes the Systemic Curriculum Integration Model, which consists of three main components: integrated planning (One-Door system), a material bridging matrix across paths to ensure a spiral curriculum, and comprehensive assessment. This model is expected to create curricular synchronization that alleviates the administrative burden on teachers while optimizing the holistic formation of the eight dimensions of graduate profiles. The study recommends the issuance of supplementary policies by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs to address the technical regulatory void regarding this integration.
