Abstract

Weak micro-data governance at the sub-district level often hampers targeted economic policies and rural development programs. This community service project aims to enhance statistical data literacy and prepare local stakeholders for the upcoming Economic Census through a Quadruple Helix collaborative model in Sawah Luhur Village, Kasemen District, Serang City. The initiative involved 17 key community representatives, including neighborhood heads (RW/RT), village officials, and local empowerment agency leaders. The methodology adopted a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach combined with capacity-building workshops covering sectoral statistics, micro-data management, and data confidentiality laws. Empirical evaluation using pre-test and post-test instruments demonstrated a substantial increase in statistical literacy, with mean scores rising from 52.35 to 83.18, representing an average score improvement of 30.82 points. The calculated Normalized Gain (N-Gain) score reached 65.38%, categorizing the intervention as moderately effective to highly effective. Inferential analysis confirmed a statistically significant improvement in participant knowledge (t = 43.5158, p < 0.001). The program successfully fostered local statistical agents and established a foundational baseline for institutionalizing the “Desa Cinta Statistik” (Desa Cantik) framework in Sawah Luhur Village.

Abstract

The issue of household waste management in the RW 02 Purwoasri neighborhood, Metro Utara Subdistrict, Metro City, continues to face various challenges, such as low public awareness regarding waste sorting and limited market access for waste management products. This community service program aims to empower the local economy through the development of an e-commerce-based waste bank as an innovative solution for waste management that generates economic value. The implementation methods included outreach and education on waste management, training in waste sorting and record-keeping, guidance on using the e-commerce platform, and an evaluation of the program’s sustainability. The implementation of the e-commerce system enables residents to record transactions digitally, expands the marketing network for recycled products, and enhances the transparency and efficiency of the waste bank’s operations. The results of the program show an increase in community participation, higher income from the sale of waste and recycled products, and the establishment of a more modern and sustainable waste management system. This program is expected to serve as a model for environment-based economic empowerment that can be replicated in other regions.

Abstract

Adolescence is an important period in the development of human resources for the future. Healthy adolescents with adequate nutrition knowledge and healthy eating behaviors are an essential foundation for creating a healthy, productive, and competitive generation. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ knowledge of balanced nutrition at SMA Negeri 1 Sukorejo, Kendal Regency, through an educational program with the theme “Healthy Adolescents, Excellent Generation.” The activity was conducted on September 19, 2024, and involved 257 twelfth-grade students, of whom 120 completed both the pre-test and post-test. The education was delivered through lectures, discussions, and games, covering balanced nutrition for adolescents and tips for maintaining fitness to support academic performance. Knowledge was assessed using a 20-item questionnaire and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Ranks Test. The results showed an increase in the mean knowledge score from 65.12 before the education to 85.79 after the education, representing an increase of 20.67 points. The proportion of students with good knowledge increased from 10.0% to 72.5%. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference in knowledge scores before and after the education (Z = −9.315; p < 0.001). Balanced nutrition education through a combination of lectures, discussions, and games can improve students’ knowledge. Balanced nutrition education for adolescents can serve as an important effort to promote healthy behaviors as a foundation for developing a healthy, productive, and competitive generation.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of community empowerment through ecotheology-based Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation for organic waste management in Paya Pinang Village. Through a qualitative approach utilizing field observation and technical assistance by UINSU 2026 KKN students, upgrading bioconversion facilities proved to significantly reduce household waste volume. The internalization of religious ethical values successfully fostered fundamental ecological awareness among residents, turning source-level waste sorting into a daily community habit. This biological processing of organic waste disrupts environmental pollution cycles and reduces disease vectors around residential areas. Beyond maintaining village cleanliness, harvesting protein-rich BSF larva biomass and kasgot fertilizer provided tangible economic impacts by reducing residents’ expenses for livestock feed and agricultural fertilizers. The implementation of this recycling system establishes a circular economy chain that independently strengthens rural economic resilience. Penelitian ini concludes that combining appropriate biotechnology with educational appeals based on religious values constitutes an effective strategy for achieving an environmentally friendly and sustainable waste-independent village.

Abstract

Kemawi Village has significant avocado potential that can be developed as a community economic resource. This community service activity aimed to improve community knowledge and skills in avocado seedling propagation and encourage product diversification through downstream processing. The activity was conducted in Kemawi Village, Sumowono District, Semarang Regency, from June to August 2026, with the main training held on July 11, 2026, involving 22 participants from farmer groups and Women Farmers' Groups (KWT). The activities included coordination, identification of partner potential and challenges, preparation, pre-test, training, hands-on practice, post-test, and mentoring. Seedling propagation training covered soil media, the toothpick technique, and grafting using scions from Pluang (Kali Bening), Kendil, and SAB 034 varieties. Downstream processing training focused on producing herbal tea from leaves, crackers from fruit pulp, and crispy brownies using seed flour. The activity provided practical experience and introduced an avocado value chain approach from seedling production to processed products. The mentoring results indicated increased practical experience and opportunities to utilize avocado parts that previously had limited economic value. Integrating seedling propagation and downstream processing has the potential to diversify community income, reduce waste, and strengthen the local economy of Kemawi Village. Further mentoring is needed for product standardization, packaging, legal compliance, branding, and market access.
