Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of a short film-based learning model on students’ mastery of Islamic Education material at State Vocational High School 3 Jepara. The research is motivated by the need for innovation in Islamic Education so that learning is not only theoretical but also touches students’ affective and contextual aspects. This quantitative study used a survey method with statistical analyses, including validity, reliability, normality, heteroscedasticity, linearity, and simple linear regression, processed through SPSS 23. The population consisted of 385 grade XI students who had implemented a short film project-based learning model. Using the Slovin formula with a 10% margin of error, 80 students were selected randomly through simple random sampling using Microsoft Excel. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, supported by documentation and teacher interviews. The results indicated that the short film project-based learning model had a significant effect on learning outcomes, with an R Square value of 0.508. This model encouraged students to master Islamic Education materials more deeply, creatively, and practically through producing Islamic-themed films, making learning more meaningful and relevant to 21st-century challenges.

Abstract

This study evaluates the validity and reliability of ChatGPT in presenting Islamic legal knowledge on waqf, focusing on its usefulness for early learners relying on free digital tools without formal Islamic education. Conducted in Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority country, the research uses ChatGPT-3.5 in Indonesian. Data were analyzed qualitatively by comparing ChatGPT’s responses with Al-Mawsūʿah al-Fiqhiyyah al-Kuwaitiyyah, Buku Pintar Wakaf, and Buku Wakaf Kontemporer across four dimensions: basic concepts, pillars and conditions, nazir (trustee) aspects, and contemporary issues. Each was rated on a five-point scale. ChatGPT scored highest in basic concepts (validity 4.80, adequacy 4.60), followed by pillars and conditions (4.44; 4.06) and Nazir (4.23; 4.06). The lowest performance was in contemporary issues (3.57 for both). Findings indicate that ChatGPT provides an accurate foundational understanding but lacks sufficient legal depth and contextual precision for advanced study. Thus, it should serve as a supplementary learning aid, not a substitute for scholarly guidance, authoritative references, or structured Islamic education grounded in sanad.

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of the implementation of mandatory zakat laws on tax revenue in Indonesia in the period 2023–2024 using a legal analysis approach. The focus of this study is on the relationship and overlap between zakat and tax obligations in the context of state fiscal policy. The method used is quantitative research with a normative approach, where data is collected through literature studies and analyzed using legal content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that although the implementation of the mandatory zakat law through the role of the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) has the potential to increase public compliance with financial obligations, data for the 2023–2024 period shows fluctuations in tax revenue, indicating that there has not been an optimal substitution between zakat and taxes. This is due to the lack of regulations that fully integrate zakat as a tax deduction and the lack of socialization to taxpayers. This study concludes that to optimize the integration of zakat and taxes, regulatory harmonization and clearer and more effective fiscal incentive policies are needed.

Abstract

This study examines the intricate relationship between Shariah education and the formation of national identity within Nigerian universities. As a country marked by religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity, Nigeria faces ongoing challenges in forging a cohesive national identity. The inclusion of Shariah-related courses in university curricula, particularly in institutions located in the predominantly Muslim northern region, raises critical questions about the role of religious legal education in a secular and pluralistic state. Using a multidisciplinary methodology that combines legal analysis, educational policy review, and qualitative interviews with students and faculty, this research investigates how Shariah education influences perceptions of citizenship, national belonging, and social cohesion. Findings suggest that while Shariah instruction can serve as a means of cultural affirmation and moral guidance, it also has the potential to either bridge or deepen national divides depending on how it is framed and integrated within broader academic and civic discourses. The paper concludes with recommendations for a more inclusive educational framework that respects religious diversity while reinforcing a shared national identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practice of buying and selling disputed land, understand the perceptions and motivations of the transaction actors, and examine these problems from an Islamic economic perspective. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach through a field research method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of a number of informants selected purposively. The results show that the practice of buying and selling disputed land takes place informally, with proof of transactions in the form of receipts and personal trust between individuals. Community perceptions tend to be permissive, considering the transaction valid as long as it is done voluntarily, even without an official certificate. The main motivation of the perpetrators is the low price of the land, the strategic location, and the belief that the legal status of the land can be resolved at a later date. From an Islamic economic perspective, this practice contains elements of gharar (uncertainty), which is prohibited due to the lack of clarity of ownership. In conclusion, this practice shows the lack of public awareness of Sharia law and land regulations. Therefore, legal education, socialization of Islamic economics, and enforcement of regulations are needed so that land transactions run according to the principles of justice and benefit.

Abstract

Da’wah, or Islamic propagation, is a core religious obligation grounded in the Qur’an and Sunnah. It invites humanity to Islam and guides believers toward righteousness, following the example of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Linguistically meaning “call” or “invitation,” Da’wah includes spreading Islamic teachings, encouraging good, and discouraging wrongdoing. In contemporary contexts, it is conducted through personal interaction, community engagement, digital platforms, and interfaith dialogue, aiming to share Islam’s message of peace, purpose, and submission to Allah. This paper explores the divine purpose of Da’wah, its components, the message, the caller, and the called and the methodological principles drawn from Qur’an 16:125: wisdom (al-hikmah), good exhortation (al-maw‘izah al-hasanah), and gracious argumentation (al-jidal bil-lati hiya ahsan). Using analytical and historical methods, it highlights the universal nature of Da’wah, its distinction from other religious invitations, and the essential qualities of the caller (da‘i). The study affirms that Da’wah is a holistic system involving the subject (al-mawdu’), the caller (ad-da’iyah), and the audience (al-mad‘uww). It concludes that effective Da’wah requires wisdom, kindness, and strong character, rooted in Prophetic methodology. It recommends structured training, ethical communication, community-based programs, digital strategies, and increased accessibility through translated classical works.

Abstract

The distribution of inheritance according to the Badamai custom is a form of customary inheritance law practised by the Muslim Banjar community in South Kalimantan. This custom results in an equal distribution pattern between male and female heirs. This study aims to analyze the value of justice within this equal distribution system using John Rawls’ Theory of Justice. Conducted as a field study with a sociological approach in South Kalimantan, the research draws on interviews with members of the Indigenous Muslim Banjar Community, community leaders, and supporting literature, including four journal articles. Viewed through Rawls’ theory, the Badamai inheritance system is considered fair because it aligns with two key principles. The first is the principle of equal liberty, which ensures that both men and women have the same fundamental right to inherit property. The second is the difference principle, which seeks to minimize inequality. By implementing equal distribution, the Badamai custom removes disparities in inheritance allocation, ensuring equal opportunities for all heirs. This study contributes to the development of Customary Inheritance Law and encourages local governments to support the establishment of the Badamai institution to help resolve inheritance-related disputes.

Abstract

Pancasila serves as the ideological and ethical foundation for leadership, aiming to shape leaders with integrity and morality grounded in divine, humanitarian, unity, civic, and social justice values harmonizing with Islamic leadership principles. This study uses a qualitative and normative (doctrinal) method, focusing on the philosophical and conceptual foundations of Pancasila. Data were collected through bibliographic research, analyzing books, journals, and previous studies to build a strong theoretical framework. The findings reveal that the de-ideologization of Pancasila’s leadership ethics stems from weak political systems, ineffective oversight, and the failure of character education based on Pancasila values. These issues undermine public trust and threaten national stability. Pancasila thus functions as both a moral fortress against ideological distortion and a benchmark distinguishing leaders guided by Pancasila values from those driven by power. Practically, this research provides insights and guidance for ethical leadership practice. Theoretically, it contributes to leadership studies, particularly regarding the integration of Pancasila’s ethical and ideological dimensions in fostering just, moral, and responsible leadership.

Abstract

The research paper analyzed the concept of Maqāṣid al-Sharī’ah  in Zaidiyah and Ja’fariyah madhhabs comparison, examining its relevance in both fractured times and the modern world. The background for this research was the lack of a systematic study on the comparative epistemological and methodological characteristics of the two madhhabs of thought, which made it more than attractive to develop law-responsive approaches for 21st-century tendencies in Islamic law. The paper's objectives were to identify commonalities and differences between Zaidiyah and Ja'fariyah perspectives on Maqāṣid and to test how these differences contribute to the solution of contemporary issues, including sex- and law-gender equality, and law pluralism. The research employed a comparative qualitative design overall, with a textual-contextual analysis approach, conducting deep and critical analysis of classical material, as well as a thematic one, to track patterns of Maqāṣid interpretation. The results include the fact that Zaidiyah adopted a systemic rational-contextual approach to Maqāṣid based on al-maslahah al-‘āmmah and Ja'fariyah – an imamah-centric approach via al-taqiyyah al-ijtihādiyyah. The study also concludes that the synthesis of these approaches is effective in providing a methodology for Islamic law.
