Abstract

The development of science and technology in the era of globalization has a significant impact on society. On one hand, science and technology improve the quality of life and increase efficiency in various fields. On the other hand, these developments also bring challenges such as moral decline, misuse of technology, and the fading of national cultural identity. This study aims to analyze the role of Pancasila as a foundation for the development of science and technology as well as to identify the challenges of its implementation in the era of globalization. The research method used is a literature study with secondary data sources from journals, books, and scientific articles. The results show that Pancasila plays an important role as an ethical foundation in the development of science and technology. The values of Pancasila are able to maintain a balance between technological advancement and humanitarian values. The main challenges lie in the influence of globalization, hedonism, and the weak internalization of Pancasila values. Therefore, strengthening character education, digital literacy, and government policies is needed to ensure that science and technology development remains aligned with national values.

Abstract

Low back pain (LBP) affects 619 million people globally, and the number of cases is projected to increase to 843 million by 2050, primarily driven by population growth and aging. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between age and body position with the incidence of low back pain among Maxim online drivers in Bengkulu City in 2025. The research method used was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique employed purposive sampling, with a sample size of 87 Maxim online drivers in Bengkulu. The results of the univariate analysis showed that most respondents (54%) were not at risk in terms of age among Maxim online drivers, most respondents (55.2%) were at risk in terms of body position among Maxim online drivers, and most respondents (57.5%) reported pain among Maxim online drivers. The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between age (p = 0.000) and body position (p = 0.000) with the incidence of low back pain among Maxim online drivers in Bengkulu City in 2025. The researchers recommend that respondents pay more attention to their posture while driving to enhance comfort during work, and that online drivers in the high-risk age category engage in regular exercise to support worker health.

Abstract

The 2024 controversy over hijab use among members of Indonesia's National Flag-Raising Troop (Paskibraka) emerged after Decision of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Number 35 of 2024 revised clothing and attribute standards by removing an earlier explicit provision concerning black inner head coverings for hijab-wearing female members. This change generated perceptions of restrictions on religious expression and prompted debate regarding the consistency of state policy with Pancasila values. This study analyzes the policy through the dimensions of Belief in One God, Humanity, Unity, Democracy, and Social Justice, while examining its implications for religious freedom, individual rights, diversity, deliberative participation, and equal treatment. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through library research on regulations, scholarly articles, official documents, and national news reports, complemented by thematic analysis of respondent views available in the research materials. The findings show that most responses considered the policy not fully aligned with Pancasila ethics. Key concerns involved potential restrictions on religious freedom, psychological pressure on hijab-wearing participants, an interpretation of national unity as visual uniformity, limited participation of affected parties in policy formulation, and unequal opportunities for Muslim women. Respondents also emphasized that nationalism should not be measured by wearing or removing the hijab, but by integrity, discipline, responsibility, and commitment to the nation. Similar policies should therefore be formulated transparently, participatively, and accommodatively so that institutional discipline can be maintained without sacrificing religious freedom and Indonesia's social diversity.

Abstract

This article examines regional head elections through the Regional House of Representatives as an open legal policy from the perspective of Article 18 paragraph (4) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. This issue is significant because the phrase “democratically elected” does not expressly determine whether regional heads must be elected directly by the people or may be elected through a representative institution. The debate has become increasingly relevant in light of various problems associated with direct regional head elections, including high political costs, money politics, social polarization, and the budgetary burden of election administration. This article aims to analyze the legal position of regional head elections through the Regional House of Representatives as an open legal policy, compare direct and indirect models for selecting local government heads in several countries, and formulate constitutional limits to ensure that such a model does not diminish popular sovereignty. This research employs normative legal research using conceptual, statutory, and comparative approaches. The findings show that regional head elections through the Regional House of Representatives may be positioned as an open legal policy because Article 18 paragraph (4) does not constitutionally require a direct election model. However, such policy cannot be understood as unlimited legislative freedom. Election through the Regional House of Representatives can only be justified if it is designed to be open, deliberative, transparent, accountable, free from transactional politics, and accompanied by effective oversight and dispute-resolution mechanisms.

Abstract

This study analyzes the gatekeeping process in the production of the news item “Festival Tabut Bengkulu 2026 Akan Digelar Meriah” at KompasTV Bengkulu and examines the conformity of the final news product with the Indonesian Broadcasting Code of Conduct and Broadcast Program Standards. The study applied a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, newsroom observation, and documentation. The informants included the bureau chief and producer, a journalist, an editor of KompasTV Bengkulu, and a monitoring analyst from KPID Bengkulu. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that gatekeeping operates through five interconnected levels. At the individual level, editorial decisions are shaped by the division of roles among journalist, producer, and editor. At the media routines level, production proceeds through projection meetings, field reporting, script writing, visual short listing, voice over, editing, and double checking. At the organizational level, a two-tier coordination mechanism connects the Bengkulu bureau and the central editorial office. At the social institutions level, the public, social media, and local government serve as information sources without determining the final substance of the news. At the social system level, cultural proximity, journalistic ethics, and broadcasting standards guide the selection and presentation of news. The final news product was considered broadcast-worthy and compliant with broadcasting standards based on KPID Bengkulu validation.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the Journalistic Code of Ethics in news production at the KompasTV Bengkulu editorial newsroom. The study is grounded in the importance of journalistic ethics in maintaining the quality, credibility, and public trust of local television media. A descriptive qualitative approach was applied, using interviews, observation, and documentation as data collection techniques. The informants consisted of the bureau chief and producer, journalist, presenter, and editor who were directly involved in the news production process. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while source triangulation was used to strengthen validity. The findings show that KompasTV Bengkulu implements journalistic ethics across all stages of news production, from coverage planning, information verification, script writing, visual and audio editing, to news delivery to the public. The implementation is reflected in the principles of independence, accuracy, balance, professionalism, protection of sensitive sources, separation between editorial and business interests, and readiness to provide correction and right of reply. From the perspective of social responsibility theory, the practice appears through voluntary commitment, stakeholder engagement, sustainability, and business ethics. The study confirms that the Journalistic Code of Ethics serves as both a moral and operational guideline for the newsroom in producing accurate, balanced, ethical, and trustworthy news.

Abstract

This study examines the role of TikTok in shaping students' attitudes and character at SMP Negeri 19 Seluma. A descriptive qualitative approach was used through observation, interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of the principal, homeroom teacher, civic education teacher, five disciplined students, and five less disciplined students. The analysis applies Rosenberg and Hovland's attitude formation theory, covering cognitive, affective, and conative components. The findings show that TikTok has positive roles, such as providing new knowledge, educational information, creativity, motivation, and confidence. However, excessive use also creates negative roles, including reduced learning focus, sleepiness in class, over-following trends, and imitation of language, clothing, and behavior from viral content. The study emphasizes the need for supervision from schools and parents so that students can use TikTok wisely, selectively, and in line with educational character values.

Abstract

This study analyzes the types of swear words and the social values reflected in the dialogue of Venom 3: The Last Dance. The topic is significant because swear words in films do not merely operate as offensive expressions; they may also reveal emotions, interpersonal relations, and the psychological pressure experienced by characters. A descriptive qualitative design was applied. The data consisted of film dialogues containing swear words, collected through documentation by repeatedly watching the movie, checking subtitles, recording relevant utterances, and classifying them using Pinker's typology of swear words and Schwartz's theory of social values. The findings identified 25 utterances containing swear words. Three categories appeared: 14 cathartic swear words, 9 abusive swear words, and 2 emphatic swear words, while dysphemistic and idiomatic swear words were not found. The social-value analysis identified security in 15 data, power in 7 data, conformity in 2 data, and benevolence in 1 data. Security was the most dominant value because most utterances occurred in situations involving threats, danger, panic, and uncertainty. The findings indicate that swearing in the film is primarily a spontaneous pragmatic response to emotional and situational pressure rather than a simple marker of impoliteness. Thus, swear words function as meaningful linguistic signs that express emotion, intensify meaning, and reflect social values within cinematic interaction.

Abstract

Habib Ja’far in Deddy Corbuzier’s podcast Close the Door entitled “Kaget Kalian Habib Ngomong Gini!! Azab Dan SDM Rendah!!”. The objectives of this study are to identify the types of illocutionary speech acts and analyze their communicative functions in the conversation. This study applied a qualitative research method using Searle’s (1976) theory of speech acts as the main theoretical framework. The data were collected through documentation techniques by watching, transcribing, and selecting Habib Ja’far’s utterances from the podcast video uploaded on Deddy Corbuzier’s YouTube channel. The findings reveal that four types of illocutionary speech acts were found in the podcast: assertives, directives, commissives, and expressives, while declarative speech acts were not found. A total of 19 data were analyzed, consisting of 9 assertive speech acts, 8 directive speech acts, 1 commissive speech act, and 1 expressive speech act, with assertive speech acts being the most dominant. This indicates that Habib Ja’far mainly functions as an informant and interpreter who delivers opinions, explanations, and moral perspectives. In terms of function, the most frequent functions identified are expressing personal opinions or viewpoints, providing advice or counsel, and expressing sympathy. The study concludes that Habib Ja’far uses speech acts strategically to educate, persuade, and encourage empathy among listeners, especially regarding humanitarian issues, while reflecting his role as a religious figure who combines moral values, social criticism, and compassion in digital communication. This research contributes to the development of pragmatic studies, particularly in analyzing speech acts in contemporary podcast discourse.

Abstract

The Sensasi Kerang business in Bengkulu City has grown as a seafood-based culinary venture, with its flagship product—Padang-style sauce clams—offering a distinctive flavor at an affordable price. Consequently, amid increasingly fierce business competition, an analysis of consumer attitudes and behavior is necessary to enhance the business’s competitiveness and sustainability. The objective of this study is to analyze consumer attitudes toward the Padang-style sauce clams at the Sensasi Kerang business and to analyze consumer behavior regarding this product at the Sensasi Kerang business in Bengkulu City. The research method used was a quantitative approach employing the Fishbein model to determine consumer attitudes and behavior toward all product attributes, namely taste, price, aroma, color, and location. The results of the study indicate that consumer attitudes toward Padang-style sauce clam products at Sensasi Kerang in Bengkulu City are positive, with a total attitude score of 9.49 (Ao > 0). An Ao value of 9.49 indicates that consumer attitudes toward Padang-style sauce clam products fall into the positive category. This means that consumers tend to like the product and are likely to repurchase it. The higher the Ao value, the stronger consumers’ positive attitude toward the Padang Sauce Clams product. Consumer behavior (B) toward the Kerang Saos Padang product falls into the positive category with a value of 10.41. Internal factors, such as consumer attitudes, exert a more dominant influence than external factors, such as subjective norms. This indicates that purchasing decisions are based more on consumers’ personal beliefs, judgments, and perceptions regarding the product’s quality, taste, price, and location than on social influences from their surroundings.
