Terrorism as a manifestation of radicalism seems to arise and sink. The segment of radicalism is the teenagers at the high school level. This because they are the transition from childhood to adulthood. The positive thinking mindset is seen with clarity of thought and brings the pandemic phenomenon as resilience to counteract radical thought patterns. The purpose of this study is to make the pandemic period a momentum for strengthening students' religious understanding as a counter to radicalism. This study is qualitative research with a content analysis approach to social media content. The results show that there are 5 (five) ways to strengthen religious understanding as an effort to deradicalize high school students, namely: (1) Fostering logical thinking patterns wrapped in religion (science spiritualism), (2) Presentation of neutral readings so that their direction of reasoning is organized, balanced between thoughts state and religion, (3) Cultivating balance and moderate attitudes, (4) Modelling attitudes and behaviours that are easy to imitate from teachers and education leaders, (5) optimizing the role of parents to assist students in distance learning patterns, learning from home, or online learning.

The third is the internalization of theological values by integrating religion and science into learning themes. The fourth is the internalization of theological values through habituation activities. Abstract

This study explores the sustainability of pesantren by analyzing the impact of the charismatic  leadership of kiai and the succession of leadership within six pesantren in Pekalongan,  Indonesia. Grounded in the historical and phenomenological approaches, this research  aims to understand how leadership charisma and regeneration influence pesantren continuity.  Within the broader discourse of Islamic education, the kiai's role is pivotal, as the pesantren’s  vitality often depends on his personal authority and vision. Data were collected through in depth interviews, document analysis, and participant observations, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings reveal that pesantren, which have endured  over generations, typically exhibit not only strong charismatic leadership but also structured  institutional development and planned leadership succession. Conversely, pesantren that  collapsed did so due to the lack of formalization and inadequate regeneration mechanisms.  This study contributes to the scholarship of Islamic education by highlighting the crucial  interplay between personal charisma, institutional formalization, and leadership continuity. It  also suggests that the future sustainability of pesantren requires intentional leadership  cultivation and adaptive organizational strategies to secure their relevance amid educational  and societal transformations.

This study employed a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, which were then, analyzed using the interactive models of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana consisted of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. This study suggested that radicalism prevention was driven by the deep concern of principals and teachers of madrasah over the rise of students who are exposed to radicalism. Madrasahs need to seriously internalizing religious moderation values to students so that they are resistant to radicalism. The values are internalized systemically and continuously involving the process of strengthening nationalism in daily routine and extracurricular activities, intensifying the counter-radicalization activities through Islamic Education and Civic Education, and developing the NU-Aswaja based curriculum. The values are at a certain level capable of strengthening their resistance to radicalism.
