Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has brought about major innovations in various fields, from technology to education. However, behind these advances, there are concerns about the impact of AI on human thinking abilities. This article examines the dilemma humans face in adopting AI, likened to a paradox—between beneficial innovation and the potential destruction of critical thinking. To discuss this topic, this article focuses on two discussions. First, how society and individuals can balance the benefits of AI innovation with the risks of weakening critical thinking abilities and autonomy of thinking? Second, whether ethical boundaries need to be applied in the use of AI to avoid negative impacts on human intellectual abilities. By combining theoretical reviews and case analysis, this article highlights how AI can optimize productivity and innovation while questioning whether excessive dependence on technology can hinder humans' ability to think independently and critically. The discussion also touches on ethical aspects, where considerations need to be made in setting limits on the use of AI so as not to threaten human cognitive abilities and creativity. Ultimately, this article aims to provide a deeper understanding of how AI can be a tool for innovation as well as a potential threat to human intellectual development.

Abstract

However, after using the syllable method in the form of illustrated paper, students are more interested in reading. This is also inseparable from the role of parents at home who must continue to accompany their children to learn to read. In order for this syllable method to be achieved as expected, it is better for teachers to map students' beginning reading abilities and then communicate with parents, it is hoped that what has been taught at school can be continued at home to further improve students' beginning reading learning.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigates the implementation of the Genre-Based Approach (GBA) in teaching listening skills to 10th-grade students at SMAN 1 Sutojayan, Indonesia. Employing observations and interviews, the research explores the effectiveness of GBA in a practical classroom setting. Findings indicate that while GBA provides a sound theoretical framework, its success hinges on comprehensive preparatory activities, particularly pre-listening tasks that build vocabulary and contextual understanding. The study highlights the need for differentiated instruction to address varying student proficiency levels and recommends targeted pre- and post-listening activities to boost comprehension and engagement. The outcome of this research is a framework for teaching listening using the Genre-Based Approach. This framework can serve as a guide for applying the same method in other schools. Overall, the research underscores the potential of GBA in enhancing listening skills, suggesting that its effectiveness can be significantly amplified through meticulous implementation and support. Future research should investigate additional strategies to further tailor GBA to diverse student needs and promote overall engagement in listening

Abstract

Engaging students with Andrea Hirata's Laskar Pelangi poses challenges due to the diverse backgrounds and interpretive abilities of students when analyzing the novel's themes of education, poverty, and hope in Indonesia. This study aims to enhance student engagement and understanding by applying Personalized Learning Pathways (PLPs) enhanced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the framework of Reader Response Theory (RRT) to tailor learning experiences. The method employs AI-driven PLPs to assess students' prior knowledge, cultural backgrounds, and learning preferences, allowing for individualized content delivery. AI provides personalized feedback, guiding students through the novel's key themes—such as the importance of education and the characters' perseverance despite poverty—while encouraging them to reflect on their own experiences. By dynamically adjusting the learning path based on each student's progress, the AI fosters deeper connections between the novel's narrative and the students' personal contexts. The study concludes that integrating PLPs with AI significantly improves students' comprehension and engagement with Laskar Pelangi by creating an interactive, reflective learning environment. This personalized approach enables students to relate more closely to the novel's themes while also addressing challenges such as varying levels of reading proficiency. However, successful implementation depends on addressing cultural sensitivity, technology access, and ensuring a balanced integration of AI with teacher-led discussions.

Abstract

The Padlet application is an online platform that can be used as a medium for teaching reading skills to enhance student interaction and facilitate collaboration between students and teachers. This study aims to analyze the use of the Padlet application through Smart Board media in teaching students’ reading skills. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of the study were eighth-grade students at MTs Al-Hikam Jombang. Data and sources were obtained from the Arabic language teacher and the eighth-grade students of MTs Al-Hikam. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the theory proposed by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, employing techniques such as data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that when viewed from the TPACK framework, the integration of technology (Padlet and Smart Board), pedagogy (collaborative teaching of reading skill), and content (reading skills in Arabic) 1) supports the creation of a holistic learning environment, and 2) the Padlet and Smart Board technologies provide opportunities for teachers to develop more interactive teaching methods tailored to students' needs, allowing students to participate more actively and collaborate in understanding the reading texts. This study recommends the use of similar technologies in teaching other language skills.
