Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using a digital Qur’an app on the understanding of tajwid among students at Al-Razi Sinar Harapan Junior High School in Medan. The study was motivated by the fact that some students still struggle to understand and apply the rules of tajwid when reading the Qur’an. On the other hand, technological advancements have led to the development of various digital Qur’an applications equipped with tajwid features, audio recitations, and translations that have the potential to support the learning process. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population consisted of 32 students in Class VII-1 at Al-Razi Sinar Harapan Junior High School in Medan, all of whom were included as the study sample using total sampling. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, a tajwid comprehension test, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using normality tests and simple linear regression. The results indicate that the use of the digital Quran app has a positive and significant effect on students’ understanding of tajwid, with a regression coefficient of 0.675 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.812 indicates that 81.2% of the variation in students’ understanding of tajwid can be explained by the use of digital Qur’an applications. These findings suggest that digital Qur’an applications are effective as a learning medium for improving students’ understanding of tajwid.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers in instilling the value of hifzh al-lisan (guarding one’s speech) as an effort to anticipate verbal bullying among students at SMP Pancasila Tanjung Beringin. The research was motivated by the tendency of students to normalize ridicule, inappropriate nicknames, and harsh language as part of everyday joking, which may negatively affect students’ character development and psychological well-being. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with key informants, including the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers, subject teachers, homeroom teachers, and students, as well as documentation studies. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that verbal bullying commonly occurred in the form of mocking, labeling, and the use of offensive language among peers. Islamic Religious Education teachers addressed this issue through the integration of ethical communication values in classroom instruction, role modeling (uswatun hasanah), personal counseling, and collaborative supervision involving school stakeholders. Supporting factors included strong school leadership and teacher collaboration, while obstacles arose from peer culture, social media influences, and limited parental supervision. Overall, the strategy contributed positively to students’ communication ethics and awareness of respectful interaction.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA)-based educational quality management in improving institutional performance at MAS Al Ittihadiyah Bromo Medan. The study employed a qualitative case study design involving the principal, vice principals, teachers, administrative staff, school committee members, and relevant institutional documents. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while credibility was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that institutional performance improvement is supported by the systematic implementation of the PDCA cycle across strategic planning, program implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement. The planning stage demonstrates increasing stakeholder participation and strategic orientation, while implementation reflects collaborative governance and quality-focused educational services. However, evidence-based planning, standardized performance indicators, documentation systems, digital infrastructure, and follow-up mechanisms require further strengthening to optimize institutional effectiveness. The study concludes that PDCA functions as an effective quality management framework for fostering continuous organizational improvement, strengthening accountability, promoting data-driven decision-making, and enhancing the institutional performance and educational quality of Islamic senior high schools.

Abstract

Trademark violations in Indonesia, including counterfeiting, imitation, and unauthorized registration, continue to occur and indicate weaknesses in legal awareness and intellectual property rights enforcement. Such practices cause economic losses to legitimate trademark owners and create unfair business competition. This study aims to analyze the legal protection afforded to registered trademark owners against bad-faith trademark registration and to compare its regulation under Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Trademarks and Geographical Indications and the Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council Number 1/MUNAS VII/MUI/5/2005 concerning the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights. This research employs a normative legal method using statutory and comparative approaches. The findings reveal that Indonesian positive law provides both preventive and repressive protection through exclusive trademark rights, cancellation mechanisms, compensation claims, and legal sanctions against infringers. Meanwhile, Islamic law recognizes trademarks as a form of property right that must be protected based on the principles of justice, public benefit, and the prohibition of unlawfully appropriating the rights of others. Both legal systems acknowledge the importance of trademark protection, although they differ in their philosophical foundations. The study concludes that positive law and Islamic law complement each other in promoting legal certainty, justice, and fair business practices.

Abstract

This study explores the role of the Ahad Sholih program at Masjid Istiqamah in Candirejo as a nonformal Islamic education initiative aimed at shaping children’s Noble Character. Conducted routinely every Sunday since 2020, the program engages children aged 4–12 years in structured activities including prayer, recitation of Asmaul Husna, memorization of daily supplications, short hadiths, and lessons on manners. Findings indicate that the program significantly contributes to moral development across three dimensions: fostering devotion to Allah through consistent worship practices, cultivating self-discipline, honesty, and confidence, and nurturing respect and responsibility toward others through social interaction and family engagement. The mosque environment provides a supportive religious atmosphere, while habituation methods and exemplary role modeling by instructors reinforce value internalization. Supporting factors include enthusiastic participation, effective teaching strategies, strong backing from mosque administrators, and parental involvement. However, challenges such as limited parental engagement, children’s short attention spans, resource constraints among mosque staff, and external factors like weather conditions were identified. Overall, Ahad Sholih demonstrates the effectiveness of mosque-based non formal education in instilling Islamic values and offers a replaceable model for other communities. Strengthening collaboration between families, mosque leaders, and educators is essential to maximize its impact on children’s moral and spiritual growth.

The study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. Primary data sources come from the book Mukhtasar ‘Abdillah Al-Harariy Al-Kafil bi ‘Ilm Ad-Din Adh-Dharuriy, while secondary data are obtained from books, scientific journals, theses, and various literature relevant to the research theme. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis to identify and interpret the educational values contained in the book. The research findings indicate that this book contains fundamental doctrinal values, including an understanding of the two testimonies of faith (shahadah), the pillars of faith (rukun al-iman), the attributes of Allah, and the principles of tawhid in accordance with the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama‘ah. Furthermore, the book emphasizes the importance of cultivating noble character (akhlakul karimah) in one’s relationship with Allah, fellow human beings, and the environment. The values contained within it are highly relevant to the current needs of Islamic education, particularly in strengthening faith, shaping religious character, and shielding the younger generation from various moral and ideological challenges in the modern era. Therefore, this book is worthy of being used as a reference in the education of faith and moral character.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of innovative learning media in improving students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education. Learning processes that are still predominantly based on conventional methods often limit students’ active engagement, resulting in suboptimal learning achievement. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effect of Canva-based learning media on the learning outcomes of eleventh-grade students at Broadcasting Bina Creative (BBC) Vocational High School, Medan. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade students, while the sample comprised 30 students selected using a predetermined sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation and were analyzed using validity, reliability, classical assumption, t-test, and coefficient of determination analyses with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The findings revealed that Canva-based learning media had a positive and significant effect on students’ learning outcomes, as indicated by a t-test significance value of 0.008 (< 0.05). Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R Square) value of 0.585 indicated that Canva contributed 58.5% to the improvement of students’ learning outcomes, while the remaining 41.5% was influenced by other factors. These findings confirm that Canva is an effective digital learning medium for enhancing the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of Islamic bank financing on the growth of three key economic sectors in Aceh Province, namely agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; wholesale and retail trade; and manufacturing. These sectors play a strategic role in regional economic development, particularly following the implementation of the Islamic Financial Institutions (LKS) Qanun in 2018. Despite the continuous growth of Islamic financing, questions remain regarding its effectiveness in stimulating sectoral economic growth. This study employs a quantitative approach using quarterly time-series data obtained from the Financial Services Authority and Statistics Indonesia for the period 2016–2023. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model is applied to analyze both short-run and long-run relationships between Islamic financing and sectoral growth. The findings reveal that Islamic financing has a positive and significant long-run effect on the wholesale and retail trade sector. In contrast, no significant impact is found on the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector or the manufacturing sector. These results suggest that the effectiveness of Islamic financing varies across sectors. Therefore, more targeted and sector-specific financing strategies are required to enhance the contribution of Islamic banking to sustainable and inclusive economic growth in Aceh Province.

Abstract

Multicultural education is an educational approach that emphasizes respect for diversity in culture, religion, ethnicity, and social background within society. In the context of higher education, student diversity is a social reality that requires prudent management to prevent the emergence of conflict, discrimination, and intolerance. This study aims to analyze the role of multicultural education in shaping and enhancing students’ attitudes of tolerance within the higher education environment. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, involving the analysis of various scientific journals, books, documents, and research findings relevant to multicultural education and tolerance. The results indicate that multicultural education plays a significant role in fostering students’ critical awareness of the importance of respecting differences, reinforcing values of inclusivity, and enhancing cross-cultural social interaction skills. The implementation of multicultural education can be achieved through the integration of diversity values into the curriculum, the strengthening of academic and non-academic activities, cross-cultural dialogue, and the creation of an inclusive and democratic campus culture. Thus, multicultural education plays a strategic role in realizing a harmonious, tolerant, and civilized higher education environment within a multicultural society.
