Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model on students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Cultural History (SKI) among Grade X students at MAS Miftahussalam Medan in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of 75 students, while the sample included 64 students who attended the post-test, with 32 students in the experimental group and 32 students in the control group. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. The test instrument was examined for validity and reliability, resulting in 20 valid items out of 40 items and a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.821. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and homogeneity tests, and an independent-samples t-test. The results showed that the experimental group obtained a mean score of 63.28, while the control group obtained 57.66. The independent-samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05 and a t-value of 3.360. Therefore, H₀ was rejected and Hₐ was accepted, indicating that the CIRC learning model had a positive and significant effect on students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Cultural History.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to develop an experiential learning-based Hajj training design at MTs Al Washliyah 1 Kisaran by emphasizing direct experience, reflection, conceptual understanding, and appreciation of the values embodied in Hajj worship. The study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that Hajj training naturally follows the experiential learning cycle through concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation, although the conceptualization stage requires further strengthening. Students’ learning experiences developed through five interconnected dimensions: corporeal, reflective, conceptual, social, and spiritual. The learning process also contributed to students’ appreciation of patience, solidarity, equality, responsibility, self-confidence, and intrinsic motivation toward worship. These findings demonstrate that Hajj training should be designed as an integrated pedagogical experience rather than merely as a simulation of worship procedures. An experiential learning-based design has the potential to strengthen student engagement while connecting Fiqh knowledge with lived experience and religious character formation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the legal position of stepchildren within the Islamic inheritance system and their legal certainty in obtaining a compulsory bequest based on the Decision of the Serdang Bedagai Religious Court Number 655/Pdt.G/2024/PA.Srh. This study employs normative legal research using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches, supported by interviews with legal practitioners and Islamic law experts. The findings indicate that stepchildren are not normatively classified as heirs because they have no blood relationship with the deceased. Article 209 of the Compilation of Islamic Law regulates compulsory bequests only for adopted children and adoptive parents and does not explicitly regulate stepchildren. In the case examined, the majority of the judges rejected the application for a compulsory bequest for the stepchildren based on a normative interpretation of Article 209 of the Compilation of Islamic Law. Conversely, the dissenting opinion opened the possibility of granting a compulsory bequest by considering emotional closeness, upbringing, contribution, and social relationships between stepchildren and the deceased. Supreme Court Circular Letter Number 7 of 2012 also indicates that stepchildren may receive a compulsory bequest on a discretionary basis. This condition demonstrates that the legal certainty of stepchildren remains relative and case-specific. Therefore, clearer legal guidelines are required to establish a balance between legal certainty, substantive justice, and legal utility.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic Religious Education value internalization on students’ self-control in dealing with social jealousy at Madrasah Aliyah Al-Washliyah. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative research design. The population consisted of 242 students in Grades X, XI, and XII, with 71 students selected as samples using simple random sampling. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires measuring the internalization of Islamic Religious Education values and students’ self-control in dealing with social jealousy. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, simple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The results showed a significant positive influence of Islamic Religious Education value internalization on students’ self-control. The regression analysis produced a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, with a regression coefficient of 0.821 and a standardized beta coefficient of 0.767. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.589, indicating that Islamic Religious Education value internalization contributed 58.9% to students’ self-control, while 41.1% was influenced by other factors. These findings indicate that strengthening Islamic values can contribute significantly to students’ emotional regulation, behavioral control, and ability to respond positively to social comparison and jealousy.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Hajj ritual learning model based on Islamic educational values within the curriculum of MAS Al Washliyah 49 Pasar Lembu, Asahan Regency. The study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to explore the lived experiences of teachers and students in Hajj ritual learning. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and documentation involving Fiqh teachers, students, the head of the madrasah, and curriculum administrators. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, supported by source and technique triangulation and member checking. The findings reveal a gap between students’ procedural mastery of Hajj rituals and their internalization of the Islamic values underlying worship. The study identified eight values that can be integrated into Hajj learning: tawhid, sincerity, patience, discipline, obedience, equality, Islamic brotherhood, and social responsibility. Based on these findings, a contextual learning model was formulated through six stages: Value Orientation, Simulation Preparation, Simulation Implementation, Individual Reflection, Collective Reflection, and Value Internalization and Commitment. The model integrates experiential learning, systematic value formation, reflection, teacher facilitation, and the institutional context of Al Jam'iyatul Washliyah, providing a contextual framework for strengthening meaningful Islamic worship education.

Abstract

This study analyzes the utilization of Smart TV as a digital-based learning medium in Fiqh instruction at Madrasah Aliyah Ikhwanul Muslimin Tembung. The study employed a qualitative descriptive approach to explore patterns of utilization, perceived learning effectiveness, and implementation challenges. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving a Fiqh teacher, three students, and a school representative. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and source triangulation. The findings indicate that Smart TV is utilized to present educational videos, images, animations, and PowerPoint presentations, particularly for Fiqh materials requiring visual and procedural explanations, such as ablution, prayer, tayammum, and zakat. Its utilization contributes to increased student interest, motivation, attention, understanding, and engagement. However, the effectiveness of Smart TV depends on teacher competence, instructional design, content relevance, and student characteristics rather than on technology alone. The study also identifies several challenges, including unstable internet connectivity, electricity disruptions, and differences in teachers’ digital competence. Teachers address these challenges by preparing offline materials and alternative learning media. The study concludes that Smart TV can support effective, adaptive, and contextual Fiqh learning when integrated with appropriate pedagogical strategies and Islamic educational values.

Abstract

This study compares Islamic inheritance law and Karo customary law and analyzes inheritance distribution among Karo Muslims in Kutabuluh Village, Kutabuluh District, Karo Regency. It employs empirical sociological legal research with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, unstructured observation, and documentation involving customary leaders, religious leaders, heirs, and local residents. Informants were selected purposively and expanded through snowball sampling. Data were analyzed through reduction, display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal fundamental differences between the two systems. Islamic law recognizes inheritance rights of male and female heirs through faraidh provisions, whereas Karo customary law follows a patrilineal system that prioritizes men as clan successors and principal recipients of inheritance. In Kutabuluh, Karo customary law remains dominant. Distribution is generally negotiated through family deliberation, while women receive shares according to agreement or the willingness of male relatives. This preference is shaped by entrenched patrilineal traditions, limited understanding of Islamic inheritance law, the desire to preserve clan continuity, and concern for family harmony. The study underscores the need to strengthen knowledge of Islamic inheritance principles while respecting deliberative

Abstract

This study aims to analyze judges’ considerations in deciding marriage dispensation cases at the Medan Religious Court and to assess their conformity with the principles of Maqashid Sharia. This study employs an empirical juridical method using normative juridical, empirical, and conceptual approaches. Data were collected through document analysis of marriage dispensation decisions, interviews with relevant parties, and a review of relevant laws and regulations, books, and scholarly journals. The data were analyzed qualitatively using content analysis based on the five fundamental objectives of Maqashid Sharia: the protection of religion (hifz al-din), life (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-'aql), lineage (hifz al-nasl), and property (hifz al-mal). The findings indicate that premarital pregnancy is the dominant factor underlying applications for marriage dispensation, followed by concerns about illicit sexual relations, social pressure, family economic conditions, low educational attainment, and inadequate parental supervision. Judges have considered juridical, social, psychological, and welfare-related aspects in deciding cases. However, the application of Maqashid Sharia tends to emphasize hifz al-din and hifz al-nasl, while the protection of life, intellect, and property has not yet received equal consideration. Therefore, a more holistic approach is needed to ensure that marriage dispensation promotes sustainable welfare and minimizes potential harm to children and families.

Abstract

This study analyzes the Islamic legal review of divorce pronounced through WhatsApp chat in Decision Number 3045/Pdt.G/2023/PA.Mdn and the factors underlying it. This field research applied normative and sociological approaches. Data came from interviews with judges and a judicial case analyst, literature study, and decision documentation. Content analysis involved data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation for credibility. The findings show that WhatsApp divorce may be valid under Islamic law when the sender is authenticated, the wording is explicit, the message is sent consciously without coercion, and the husband's genuine intention is established. The message constitutes written divorce, yet under Indonesian positive law it functions only as evidence; dissolution of marriage requires a court decision. The underlying factors included prolonged conflict, failure to provide material and emotional maintenance, financial dishonesty, poor communication, the husband's disappearance, infidelity, separation since 2021, breach of the conditional divorce pledge, and failed reconciliation. WhatsApp was therefore not the primary cause of divorce, but the medium used to communicate a decision after the marriage had irreversibly broken down and reconciliation no longer appeared realistically possible.
