Abstract

Abstract

This community service project aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes and student participation in junior high school (SMP) through the implementation of the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) cooperative learning method. The activities included teacher training, classroom facilitation, formation of heterogeneous student teams, group discussions, individual quizzes, and assessment of learning outcomes. Data were collected using pre-tests and post-tests, classroom observation, and teacher and student satisfaction questionnaires. The results show a significant improvement in students’ mathematics achievement, with the average score increasing from 61 to 82 and the mastery percentage rising from 55% to 90%. In addition, students’ active participation in discussions, teamwork, and task completion increased considerably. Teachers reported easier classroom management and better monitoring of student progress, while students felt more motivated and enjoyed learning. This community service demonstrates that the STAD method is effective in enhancing academic performance, learning motivation, and social skills, while also providing practical experience for teachers in applying cooperative learning strategies.

Abstract

The Community Service Program “Empowered Village, Secure Budget” in Tamilouw Village aims to strengthen integrity-based Village Fund governance through anti-fraud outreach, practical mentoring, and social accountability. The design includes initial diagnostics, interactive training (fraud triangle, role separation, three-way match), case clinics and internal audit simulations, and pre-post evaluations and citizen feedback using a community scorecard. Mixed methods were used to assess changes in knowledge, work behavior, and documentation quality. Results showed an increase in knowledge from 62% (pre) to 87% (post) with a normalized gain of 0.66 (high category), adoption of an internal control checklist by 80% of participants, and a 32% decrease in recording errors. Public transparency increased: the proportion of residents aware of Village Fund allocations rose from 15% to 68%, while a scorecard pilot in two hamlets resulted in an average satisfaction rating of 84% along with measurable improvement plans. The integration of ethical values was strengthened through a civil servant code of ethics, a whistleblowing channel, and the establishment of an ethics team and community audit. 93% of participants agreed that integrity is a key performance indicator. The findings confirm that the combination of risk-based controls, consistent data publication, and meaningful participation effectively reduces opportunities for irregularities while enhancing village government legitimacy. This model is worthy of replication as a prototype for coastal integrity villages in eastern Indonesia. Further quarterly mentoring support is recommended.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the digital transformation of administrative service governance in Nania Village, Baguala District, Ambon City, as a stepping stone towards a smart village by strengthening the capacity of civil servants and increasing community participation. The activities were implemented using a participatory approach and community-based service learning design, through the stages of initial mapping, socialization, training, implementation of a simple digital administration system, mentoring, and reflective evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, FGDs, documentation, and questionnaires, then analyzed using simple qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. The results show a significant increase in the digital capacity of civil servants; approximately 80% of village officials are able to manage population databases and letter archives electronically. The average document processing time has decreased from 3–5 days to 1–2 working days, with clearer, more predictable, and auditable procedures. As many as 75% of respondents stated that services are faster and more transparent, and they are more active in utilizing village digital channels. In addition, there has been a shift in work culture from a personal pattern to a more collaborative and accountable system-based work pattern, so that Nania Village has begun to play a role as an early model for a smart village in Ambon City. These findings confirm that digitizing village administrative services can be an effective strategy for strengthening governance and public trust in coastal/island areas.

Abstract

Community service activities through the Community Service Program (KKN) are a form of implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education (Tri Dharma) in community empowerment. This study aims to describe and analyze the empowerment process of the Talabiu Village community through the organization of T-Fest (Talabiu Festival) by STIE Bima students, as an effort to preserve local customs and strengthen the local economy. This activity was motivated by low community participation in preserving regional culture and the lack of economic innovation based on local potential The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with participatory methods, in which students played a direct role in designing and implementing the festival activities with the community. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with village officials, traditional leaders, and MSMEs, as well as observations of activities during the festival. The results indicate that the T-Fest successfully raised community awareness of the importance of preserving Talabiu customs and culture. The festival featured a variety of traditional arts, a local product exhibition, a culinary bazaar, and social activities involving all villagers. From an economic perspective, T-Fest opened up opportunities for MSMEs to introduce their products, increase sales, and expand their marketing networks. Furthermore, this activity fosters a sense of pride and solidarity among residents through collaboration between students and the community. In conclusion, T-Fest is a concrete example of community empowerment based on campus-village collaboration, where preserving traditional customs and improving the local economy can go hand in hand. This activity demonstrates the strategic role of KKN students in building cultural awareness and promoting economic independence in village communities.

Abstract

This community service activity was conducted to enhance accounting students’ methodological literacy toward qualitative research, which remains less popular within the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Makassar (FEB UNM). Field observations revealed that most accounting students prefer quantitative approaches in their undergraduate theses, considering them easier and more measurable. Therefore, the implementing team organized a qualitative research methodology socialization program for sixth-semester students who are preparing for their final research projects. The activity employed an interactive lecture and open discussion method, and its effectiveness was assessed through a comparison of pre-test and post-test results. The findings indicated an overall improvement in students’ conceptual understanding across all measured aspects, with the highest increase in data collection techniques (11.76%) and the lowest in understanding the researcher’s role as the main instrument (5.88%). These results demonstrate that conceptual-based socialization is effective in improving students’ methodological comprehension and academic awareness of qualitative research. The program is expected to continue as a sustainable initiative to strengthen the research culture and broaden methodological perspectives among accounting students at FEB UNM.
