Abstract

Banyan hanging root (Ficus benjamina Linn) is a plant that has medicinal properties. Banyan hanging root (Ficus benjamina Linn) contains flavonoid substances that are able to inhibit prostaglandins so that they have antipyretic activity.  This study aims to test the antipyretic activity of banyan hanging root (Ficus benjamina Linn) against male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced peptone 10%.  This study is an experimental study with a Complete Randomized Design (RAL). The test animal used was a male white rat (Rattus norvegicus) which had been adapted for 1 week and was satisfied for ± 18 hours and was only given to drink ad libitum. The male white rats used were 15 heads with a body weight of 150–200 g. The test animals were divided into 5 groups in a randomized way, namely the Negative Control group (CMC 1%), the Positive Control group (Paracetamol 45 mg) and the test group, namely the administration of banyan hanging root ethanol extract (Ficus benjamina Linn) at a dose of 200 mg / Kg BB, 400 mg / Kg BB, and 600 mg / Kg BB. Each group consisted of 3 rats. Each of the test animals will be given pepton 10%.  Temperature measurements are carried out before the administration of peptone 10%, 1 hour after administration of pepton 10% and once every 30 minutes after treatment until the 180th minute. The data obtained were analyzed using the ANOVA test and continued with the Tukey HSD test.  A 180-minute study showed that banyan hanging root ethanol extract had antipyretic effects at a dose of 200 mg/Kg BB, a dose of 400 mg/Kg BB, and the most effective dose at a dose of 600 mg/Kg BB.  That the ethanol extract of the hanging root of banyan (Ficus benjamina Linn) has antipyretic activity in male white rats (Rattus norvegicus).

Abstract

Diuretics are substances that can increase urinary output (diuresis) through direct action on the kidneys. Diuretics can also reduce electrolyte reabsorption in the renal tubules by involving active transport processes The cat's whiskers plant contains polymethoxylated flavonoid compounds, phenylpropanoids (caffeic acid derivatives), and terpenoids (especially diterpenes and triterpenes). IDKK was obtained from the infusion technique with distilled water and then the infusion was used on 25 diuretic rats which were divided into 5 groups. Group I (negative) Na-CMC 0.5%, group II (positive) Furosemide 3.6 mg/kgBB, and group III, IV, and V IDKK doses of 10, 20, and 40% were given orally. Rats were given aqua dest orally at a 15 ml/kg BW dose. Mice were placed in metabolic cages, then the physical examination of urine was carried out every 1 hour for 6 hours. The results showed that the IDKK with the best dose was 40%, which increased urine volume, affect urine pH, affect urine specific gravity, and affect the color of urine and the clarity of urine.

Abstract

Kolesterol merupakan zat alamiah dengan sifat fisik serupa lemak yang mempunyai gugus steroid. Kenaikan kolesterol mengakibatkan pengendapan pada dinding pembuluh darah yang dapat menyebabkan penyempitan dan pengerasan pembuluh darah atau aterosklerosis yang dapat meningkatkan resiko terjadinya Penyakit Jantung Koroner (PJK). Flavonoid, alkaloid, tanin dan saponin pada kacang merah diduga dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol total. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak etanol kacang merah (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) terhadap penurunan kadar kolesterol total mencit (Mus musculus) yang diinduksi pakan tinggi lemak selama 14 hari. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan menggunakan 16 ekor mencit jantan (Mus musculus) terbagi dalam 4 kelompok. Pada kelompok perlakuan kontrol negatif diberi Na-CMC, kontrol positif diberi simvastatin, diberi ekstrak etanol kacang merah dosis 80 mg/kg BB dan 160 mg/kg BB.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara yang kaya akan bahan alamnya. Daun bangun-bangun mengandung saponin, flavonoida, polifenol, kalium, dan minyak atsiri 0,2% serta mengandung karvakrol, fenol, sineol. Bangun-bangun (Plecantrus amboinicus Linn Spreng) merupakan tanaman yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai antiepileptik, antimutagen, antitumor, antigenotoksik, antiklastogenisitas, antiinflamasi, diuretik, antioksidan, dan radio protektif. Salah satu strategi untuk pengembangan obat adalah penggunaan tanaman obat.  Tujuan penelitian ini adalah Ekstrak etanol daun bangun-bangun (Plecantrus amboinicus Linn Spreng) dapat diformulasikan dalam bentuk sediaan gel. Sediaan gel ekstrak etanol daun bangun- bangun (Plecantrus amobinicus Linn Spreng) mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antiinflamasi. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental prametik. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan program SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution). Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Farmasetika Universitas Sari Mutiara Indonesia dan Laboratorium Farmakologi Universitas Sumatera Utara. Hasil penelitian Kelompok uji yang diberikan ekstrak etanol daun bangun-bangun (EEDBB) konsentrasi 5%;10% dan 15% memiliki perbedaan hasil. Adapun hasil pengujian yang telah dilakukan adalah sebagai berikut: Kelompok konsentrasi 5% pada menit 30 hingga menit ke 390 menit menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dengan kelompok Blanko (p>0,05), begitu jugan dengn kelompok Basis Gel Voltaren (p>0,05), kelompok Konsentrasi Ekstrak Etanol Daun Bangun-bangun pada konsentrasi 5% juga tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan dengan konsentrasi EEDBB 10% dan 15 % dengan (p>0,05). Inhibisi radang pada kelompok voltaren, EDBB 5%,EDBB10% dan EDBB15% mulai menit ke-210 hingga menit ke-390. Kelompok voltaren memiliki persen radang yang lebih besar diikuti kelompok EDBB konsentrasi 5%, EDBB 10% dan EDBB 15%. Pada penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun bangun-bangun (Plecantrus amboinicus Linn Spreng dapat di formulasikan dalam sediaan Gel. Ekstrak etanol daun bangun-bangun (Plecantrus amboinicus Linn Spreng memiliki aktivitas sebagai antiinflamasi dimana Ekstrak Etanol Daun Bangun bangun pada kelompok EEDBB konsentrasi 5% pada menit ke-30 hingga menit ke-390 sudah memiliki aktifitas antiinflamasi.

Abstract

Urtica dioica L. or what is known as nettle is a perennial plant from the Urticaceae family. The leaves contain various medically important organic compounds and have antioxidant potential, including flavonoids. Antioxidants can be further utilized for the development of anti-aging in the form of topical dosage forms in the form of creams because of their easy use. This study aims to formulate and test the anti-aging effectiveness of nettle leaf ethanol extract cream preparations with the addition of aloe vera juice and to find out whether a cream containing ethanolic extract of nettle leaf (Urtica dioica L.) with the addition of aloe vera juice is able to provide an Anti-Aging effect on the skin. The method used was the experimental method. Nettle leaf was extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent and concentrated with a rotary evaporator at 40°C, then the extract was made into cream preparations with a concentration variation of 0.2% (F1); 0.3% (F2); 0.4% (F3) and 0.5% (F4) with the addition of aloe vera juice with a constant concentration of 3% in each formula. As blank (F0), the cream base was used without the addition of extract. Evaluation of cream preparations included organoleptic test, homogeneity, emulsion type test, pH, stability test, viscosity, irritation, and anti-aging effectiveness test using a skin analyzer. Observations were made for 28 days by applying cream preparations behind the volunteers' ears. Results Nettle leaf ethanol extract with the addition of aloe vera extract can be formulated in a homogeneous cream dosage form, with a pH of 6.30 – 6.69, a viscosity of 16250-26750 cps, stable in storage for 28 days, and does not irritate the skin of volunteers. The conclusion obtained is that nettle leaf ethanol extract with the addition of aloe vera juice can be formulated in the form of a cream dosage form and a concentration of 0.5% shows the best anti-aging effectiveness.

Abstract

Paprika kuning merupakan salah satu buah yang memiliki kandungan Vitamin C yang tinggi. Vitamin C adalah zat gizi mikro yang berperan penting dalam menjaga kesehatan tubuh. Vitamin C merupakan senyawa yang bersifat reduktor kuat dan mudah larut dalam air. Berdasarkan sifat reduksi yang dimiliki oleh vitamin C dapat menjadi alasan pemilihan cara penetapan kadar secara iodimetri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kadar vitamin C dari buah paprika kuning hidroponik dan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kadar vitamin C dari buah paprika kuning hidroponik dan paprika kuning yang ditanam di tanah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif untuk mengetahui kadar vitamin C pada paprika kuning yang dibudidayakan secara hidroponik dan paprika kuning yang ditanam di tanah dengan menggunakan metode titrasi iodimetri. Berdasarkan hasil analisa yang dilakukan secara titrasi iodimetri di dapat kadar rata-rata pada paprika kuning yang dibudidayakan secara hidroponik sebesar 98,63 ± 0,1287 mg/100g dan paprika kuning yang ditanam di tanah sebesar 86,19 ± 0,1291 mg/100g. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kadar vitamin C pada paprika kuning yang dibudidayakan secara hidroponik lebih tinggi dari kadar vitamin C yang ditanam di  tanah karena faktor tempat tumbuh dan nutrisi tanaman yang berbeda.

Abstract

Ikan patin merupakan salah satu jenis ikan air tawar yang mempunyai nilai ekonomis penting. Ikan ini banyak digemari terutama di luar pulau Jawa seperti pulau Sumatera dan Kalimantan.Tulang Ikan Patin(Pangasius hypophthalmus) mengandung beberapa mineral termasuk kalsium yang sangat dibutuhkan oleh tubuh manusia.Tulang Ikan Patin memiliki kandungan kalsium yang cukup tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar kalsium pada Tulang Ikan Patin dan pada sediaan Pasta Gigi. Jenis penelitian bersifat eksperimental dengan metode kolorimetri. Dilakukan analisis kuantitatif pada panjang gelombang maksimum 503,00 nm, dan diperoleh persamaan garis regresi linier yaitu y= 0,0625X+0,0014 dengan nilai koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar 0,9985. Hasil penelitian diperoleh kandungan kalsium pada tulang ikan patin  sebesar 22,6117 mg/100g, kadar kalsium dalam sediaan pasta gigi formula I sebesar 5,8468 mg/100g dan kadar .kalsium dalam sediaan pasta gigi formula II sebesar 6,2348 mg/100g.

Abstract

Sweetened condensed milk is cow's milk in which the water is removed and added sugar, resulting in milk that is very sweet in taste and can last for a year if it is not opened. Sweetened condensed milk products, powdered milk, and sterile milk are often made in packaging made of plastic and cans to avoid the influence of sunlight, packaging time, storage and others. And as a result of the packaging, the product is often damaged either microbiologically, mechanically or chemically. These cans are lined with other coating materials with certain protection. This is to prevent a reaction that could cause the can to corrode and leak. The presence of these metals, even in small levels, will endanger the health of consumers and considering that heavy metals will accumulate in the body, so that gradually the levels will increase and are very dangerous to health, including Pb and Fe metals that can act on the can. Qualitative testing is to determine the presence of the metal present in the sample and quantitative testing is to determine how much content is present in the sample. Before carrying out quantitative testing, the samples were first destroyed using wet destruction. From the results of qualitative testing, all samples contained Pb and Fe metals. From the results of quantitative testing on Pb, the lowest sample was found in sample 3 of 0.0105 mg/kg and sample 5 of 0.0105 mg/kg, this did not exceed the SNI 297.2011 threshold of 0.02 mg/kg. While the results for heavy metal Pb at large concentrations in sample 1 were 0.0239 mg/kg; sample 2 of 0.0371 mg/kg, and sample of 0.0262 mg/kg exceeds the threshold of SNI 297.2011 of 0.02 mg/kg while for heavy metal Fe is still below the threshold allowed by SNI 297.2011 which is 10.0 mg/kg, namely sample 1 of 0.0081 mg/kg; sample 2 of 0.0100 mg/kg; sample 3 of 0.0079 mg/kg; sample 4 is 0.0068 mg/kg and sample 5 is 0.0122 mg/kg.

Abstract

Lip balm is a preparation that is applied to the lips and functions as a moisturizer by forming an immiscible oil layer on the surface of the lips. Arabica coffee plants contain phenolic and flavonoid compounds that act as antioxidants and flavonoids are also considered to protect the body from the effects of free radicals and environmental pollution which are good for the lips. The purpose of this study was to formulate lip balm using Arabica coffee leaf extract and to evaluate its effectiveness as a lip balm. Arabica coffee leaves were extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent and concentrated with a rotary evaporator. Arabica coffee leaf extract was formulated with concentrations, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%, as a blank used lip balm base. Tests on lip balm preparations include organoleptic tests, homogeneity tests, pH measurements, strength tests, melting point tests, irritation tests and stability tests for preparations with parameters such as odor, color and pH during 28 days of storage. Testing the ability of the preparation to moisturize using a skin analyzer once a week for 28 days. The results showed that all lip balm preparations were homogeneous, had a pH of 5.6-6.2 and were stable for 12 weeks of storage. The preparation of pomegranate peel extract lip balm with a concentration of 10% can provide the best lip moisturizing effect to restore lip skin after 4 weeks. All lip balm preparations of Arabica coffee leaf extract do not irritate the skin. Lip balm preparation with 10% arabica coffee leaf extract concentration showed effectiveness as the best lip balm.

Abstract

Anti-aging is a process to prevent or slow down the effects of aging so that a person becomes fresher, more beautiful, and more youthful. Beet fruit a function as an antioxidant to protect against the effects of sunlight, compounds that have anti-oxidant activity in beets include betacyanin and vitamin C, and betacyanin is a substance that can neutralize free radicals. often used is in the form of face cream where its functions include cleaning, and refreshing, and the presence of beetroot extract also adds to its function as a protector and adds nutrition, especially to regenerate facial skin. This research uses experimental methods which include making cream preparations and testing cream preparations against anti-aging activity on the skin. The sample in this study used beetroot ethanol extract obtained from Medan City and 12 respondents who were used as panels in the anti-aging activity test. The results of this study showed that the physical quality test of the cream preparation was homogeneous, remained stable in storage for 4 weeks, was an oil-in-water (m/a) emulsion type, had a pH of 6.1–6.6 and did not irritate the skin. In the anti-aging test at week four the blank cream showed increased results with a percent recovery of 30.83%, the comparison cream showed increased results with a percent recovery of 60%, cream 5% showed increased results with a percent recovery of 41.49% lower than cream In comparison, 10% cream showed an increase in the percentage of recovery 59.61 lower than the comparison cream and 15% cream showed an increase in the percentage of recovery 61.55% higher than the comparison cream. The conclusion of this study is that the ethanol extract of beetroot can be formulated into a cream preparation with an oil-in-water emulsion type, the ethanol extract of beetroot has the best anti-aging activity at 15% cream and the lowest is 5% cream.
