Abstract

In today’s digital era, early mastery of basic technology is essential. This community service program aimed to introduce Microsoft Word, a fundamental word-processing tool, to elementary school students in Cempaka Village. The training targeted 5th and 6th graders, most of whom had limited or no experience with computer applications. Using a hands-on, "learning by playing" approach, the program made digital learning accessible and engaging for children. The materials covered included an introduction to the Microsoft Word interface, basic operations such as typing, saving, and editing documents, as well as text formatting and image insertion. Results showed a significant improvement in the students’ basic skills and confidence in using Microsoft Word. Participants expressed enthusiasm and interest in continuing to practice their new abilities. This initiative represents a strategic first step in fostering digital literacy among rural children, helping them prepare for the demands of an increasingly technology-driven world. Moreover, it underscores the importance of early digital education as a foundational element for students’ academic and personal growth.

Abstract

Rendahnya literasi digital dan keterbatasan akses pembelajaran teknologi di lingkungan sekolah menjadi tantangan dalam perkembangan siswa menghadapi era digital. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi digital siswa MA NU 06 Cepiring melalui pelatihan pemrograman web dasar dan pengolahan data. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan partisipatif dengan keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam seluruh tahapan pelatihan, mulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, hingga evaluasi. Pelatihan dilaksanakan melalui beberapa sesi praktik langsung dengan materi HTML, CSS, penggunaan spreadsheet, dan pengenalan konsep basis data sederhana. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami peningkatan kemampuan dalam memahami struktur pemrograman web dan keterampilan mengolah data. Selain itu, terlihat pula munculnya perilaku belajar mandiri, peningkatan kepercayaan diri dalam menggunakan teknologi, serta tumbuhnya kesadaran akan pentingnya kompetensi digital untuk masa depan. Implikasi dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan pelatihan yang kontekstual dan kolaboratif mampu mendorong transformasi sosial di lingkungan sekolah, serta dapat dijadikan model replikasi untuk penguatan literasi digital di lembaga pendidikan lainnya.

Abstract

The activities of MSME actors are not only carrying out business activities, but are also required to make financial reports to evaluate the development of their business. However, the lack of knowledge of financial management such as accounting records and difficulty in using accounting applications are common obstacles. To overcome this, the community service team in collaboration with the University of Computer Science and Technology and STIE Modern Economic Studies held a digital-based financial management training program by utilizing the SIAPIK application developed by Bank Indonesia. This activity involves theoretical and practical training methods, intensive mentoring, and discussions and evaluations through collecting feedback data to assess participants' abilities in completing basic financial recording tasks. The impact is that MSMEs in Sugihan Village have become more skilled in preparing digital financial reports using the application, thereby increasing the transparency and effectiveness of business financial management.

Abstract

The animated work Green Log: Where The Package Meets Planet, explores the environmental impact of urban logistics activities through a minimalist yet informative flat design visual approach, utilizing actual air quality data (Jakarta AQI), delivery vehicle emission patterns, as well as case studies of sustainable solutions such as the implementation of electric vehicles in the IKN and global practices of companies such as Amazon. The creation process begins with quantitative research on logistics-related pollution patterns, the development of visual narratives based on motion graphics principles with graphic match-cut techniques for symbolic transitions between problems and solutions, to the production of 2D animations that optimize the green-blue color palette and simple geometric elements to convey the complexity of environmental issues more easily digested. The final result, a 3-minute animated video, not only visualizes the relationship between 166 million monthly deliveries and the degradation of Jakarta's air quality, but also offers a solution perspective through the visualization of the transformation of conventional logistics systems towards sustainable models, with the hope of increasing public awareness and encouraging discussions about green transportation policies in Indonesia

Abstract

MSMEs have a strategic role in the Indonesian economy, especially in creating jobs and improving people's welfare. However, many MSMEs face challenges in operational efficiency and workplace management. The 5R concept (Ringkas, Rapi, Resik, Rawat, and Rajin) is a method that has been proven to increase productivity and work efficiency. This community service activity was carried out by the Lecturer Team of the University of Computer Science and Technology who held a 5R Training for 20 MSME actors in Sugihan Village, Tengaran District, Semarang Regency. This training aims to improve understanding and application of the 5R principles in the work environment, so that MSMEs can operate more efficiently and increase competitiveness. The methods used include theory sessions, discussions, and questions and answers. The results of the training activities, participants were able to absorb 80% of the material provided related to the implementation of 5R, related to increasing awareness of the importance of workplace organization, production efficiency, and cleanliness and safety of the business environment. It is hoped that in the future, participants through this training can provide real benefits in increasing productivity and the quality of their products.

Abstract

The Community Service Program of STIE Al-Madani in Waylunik Village, North Lampung, focused on improving household economic skills through Determat-Based Liquid Detergent Making Training for 20 housewives. This training is intended to overcome long-term problems and meet basic household needs while creating independent business opportunities. The method used is a demonstration followed by the practice of making liquid detergent and an interactive discussion of the effectiveness and safety of Determat-based materials. Participant evaluation was carried out through observation and questionnaires to measure the understanding gained and the potential for application in everyday life. The results of the activity showed that all participants were able to mix liquid detergent using easily accessible and economical ingredients. Post-training assistance through online discussion forums is expected to encourage the sustainability of the program and encourage the development of community-based business models. Thus, this activity not only contributes to household economic empowerment but also educates and fosters innovation in managing household food needs.

Abstract

River pollution caused by household waste is one of the serious environmental problems in RW 03 and RW 04 of Kapas Madya Baru Subdistrict, Surabaya. Low public awareness and the lack of waste management facilities have caused the river to become shallow, dirty, and foul-smelling. The GREBEK (Gerakan Bersih Kali / River Cleaning Movement) program is a form of community empowerment-based service that involves local residents, neighborhood leaders, and subdistrict officials in river clean-up activities, household waste education, and the installation of educational signboards containing information on waste types and their decomposition times. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with a participatory approach. The results show that active community participation has successfully increased environmental awareness, social solidarity, and behavioral changes in maintaining river cleanliness. This program demonstrates that simple interventions can have a sustainable positive impact when carried out through collaborative and empowerment-based approaches.

Abstract

The management of research and community service data in higher education institutions is crucial for achieving Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and supporting the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy. At Widya Husada University Semarang (UWHS), data recording and reporting processes for research and community service still face various challenges, including low efficiency, lack of accuracy, and limited system integration. To address these issues, a community service program was conducted through the socialization and implementation of a web-based Internal Research and Community Service Information System (BIMA) under the UWHS Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM). The method employed consists of five stages: socialization, training, technology implementation, mentoring and evaluation, and program sustainability. The results indicate that the developed system successfully enhances reporting efficiency, process transparency, and digital literacy among lecturers. Moreover, it improves lecturers’ ability to independently manage their research and community service proposals, especially in preparing for national research and service grant opportunities.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia have become a major health burden in Indonesia, with many cases remaining undiagnosed due to their asymptomatic nature. Early detection through community screening is a key prevention strategy. Objective: This community service activity, 'Gerakan Masyarakat Sehat' (GEMAS), aimed to conduct health screenings for the early detection of NCD risk factors among the residents of Jembrak Village, Semarang Regency. Methods: The activity was carried out on June 14, 2025, by lecturers and students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Satya Wacana Christian University. Free examinations included blood pressure, random blood glucose, cholesterol, and uric acid levels for 29 residents. Results: The findings revealed a high prevalence of risk factors: 51.8% of participants had above-normal blood pressure (prehypertension and hypertension), 10.7% were identified with prediabetes, 39.2% had dyslipidemia, and 37.9% suffered from hyperuricemia. Many participants exhibited a clustering of more than one risk factor. Conclusion: This screening program effectively unveiled the hidden burden of NCDs within the community. It underscores the importance of proactive early detection programs, with referral to the local primary health center (Puskesmas) being a crucial step for further management and complication prevention.

Abstract

Training to read the Qur'an with Iqro ' method for elderly women is one of the efforts of community empowerment in the field of religion. This activity was held at the Nurul Huda mosque, Wanengpaten Village, Gampengrejo District, Kediri, on September 11-30, 2024. Iqro ' method was chosen because it has been widely known by the elderly and proven effective in improving the ability to read the Qur'an gradually. This training aims to train the ability to read the Qur'an, especially in terms of correct pronunciation hijaiyah letters (Makhorijul letters). The implementation of the activities involves an age-friendly approach, with the use of simple modules and intensive mentoring. The results of this training showed a significant improvement in the ability of participants in reading the Qur'an, especially in the mastery of Tajweed and clarity of pronunciation of letters. This Program is expected to be a model that can be replicated in various other areas in order to improve Qur'anic literacy among elderly women. In addition to providing technical training, this program also plays a role in building participants ' confidence to be active in religious activities in their environment. The learning process is designed in stages, starting from the introduction of hijaiyah letters, the correct pronunciation according to makhraj, to the application of Tajweed rules in reading the verses of the Qur'an. Assistance is carried out intensively by paying attention to the physical condition and memory of the elderly, so that the learning atmosphere becomes more conducive and enjoyable. The evaluation results showed that most of the participants experienced significant progress, both in reading fluency, pronunciation accuracy, and basic understanding of Tajweed law. Another positive impact is the establishment of closer social relationships between participants, so this training also contributes to strengthening the social bonds of the community. The success of this program indicates that the iqro learning model combined with an age-friendly approach can be an effective strategy to improve Qur'anic literacy among the elderly, while strengthening religious values in the community
