Abstract

The number of COVID-19 cases in Brebes Regency within a year is still quite high. The elderly, Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus are the most important COVID-19 vulnerable groups and have the highest risk of death. The purpose of this study is to determine the distribution of COVID-19 vulnerable groups and their spatial relationship to COVID-19 cases in Brebes Regency. This study used a correlation or ecology study design. The data used is secondary data obtained from the Brebes Regency Health Office, namely the number of COVID-19 cases, the number of elderly, people with hypertension and diabetes mellitus in 2021. The data then analyzed using univariate, bivariate analysis and spatial analysis with the help of QuantumGIS software (QGIS). The results showed that the proportion of the elderly age group correlated with the number of COVID-19 cases (p value is 0.005), while the prevalence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus had no correlation with the number of COVID-19 cases (p value more than 0.05). The high-risk areas are Brebes, Wanasari, Banjarharjo and Bumiayu Districts. The existence of this study, the local government is expected to be able to optimize the Testing, Tracing and Treatment program (3T), posyandu for the elderly and achieve vaccination targets, especially in high elderly population areas, in order to detect and predict the spread of COVID-19 and the selection of appropriate treatment.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of smoking among women globally has become a critical public health issue. World Health Organization (WHO) data shows 20 percent of women use tobacco. Women smokers face an increased risk of various diseases. Spatial studies need to be conducted as a basis for planning and providing targeted interventions to reduce the spread of diseases caused by smoking. The study aimed to determine the spatial description of smoking among women in Indonesia. This study analyzed the 2017 IDHS data and used an ecological study design with a descriptive approach and a spatial analysis model. The results are Papua was the province with the highest percentage of women smoking with no education and with the lowest de jure wealth quintile. Provinces using the Internet almost daily were Banten and East Java, and the province with women unemployed in the past 12 months before the survey was North Sulawesi. Based on the results, there are five provinces in Indonesia with a high percentage of smoking among women, assessed by education, internet access, wealth quintile, and non-working women. This study concludes that there is a need to implement smoke-free zones (SFZs), also conduct communication, information, and education (IEC) through mass media.

Abstract

The health workforce distribution in Indonesia still needs to be balanced, especially in border areas and islands (DTPK), with no exception for public healthcare workers. This study aimed to determine the interest of public health science students in working in remote areas and the factors associated with the interest of public health science students to work in remote areas. This study design was cross-sectional, and a total sampling method was used. The subjects were final-year students majoring in Public Health Science at the State University of Malang. The dependent variable was the interest of public health science students to work in remote areas. Independent variables included personal input, background environment, and student self-efficacy. Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using Goodman and Kruskal Tau tests. The result showed that from 79 respondents, 44.3 percent of students were interested in working in remote areas, and 5.1 percent had high self-efficacy to work in remote areas. The factor related to student interest in working in remote areas is the self-efficacy variable (p is 0.000). Most students are not interested in working in rural areas, and self-efficacy is associated with student interest in working in rural areas.

Abstract

The high coverage rate of handling partially rejected claim financing reaching 7.34% of the total 19,476 cases in the Outpatient Unit of the Jambi Provincial Mental Hospital (RSJD) in 2022, is closely related to the quality of human resources (HR) in this case, the claims officer and the suitability of what is done with the job description, job specifications and standard operating procedures (SOP) that have been made. This study aimed to analyze the position of administrative officers and claim verifiers in the outpatient unit of the Jambi Provincial Mental Hospital. This research used a qualitative method. Information was collected through in-depth interviews with eight informants, observation, and document review. Test validity by triangulating sources, techniques, and data. The results showed that officers already knew the claims administration and verification procedures. The claim administration SOP in this case, the RJTL claim submission SOP and the monthly reporting SOP have not been outlined in a decision letter for the coding SOP. However, it has been outlined in a decision letter but has not been adequately socialized to the officers concerned. The SOP for claim verification has not been outlined in a decision letter and still refers to the technical guidelines for claim verification issued by BPJS Health. It is still found that the delegation of tasks and the number of verification officers not following the calculation of workload and standards set are obstacles in implementing administration and verification of claims in the Jambi Province RSJD outpatient department.

Abstract

Soil-Transmitted Helminth (STH) infection is one of the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) that affects around 1.5 billion people worldwide, including regions like Southeast Asia. The most common species infecting humans is Ascaris lumbricoides. Preschool-age and school-age children are particularly vulnerable to STH infection due to their living environments in areas where STH is prevalent. Infection of STH, especially Ascaris lumbricoides, can hinder physical and cognitive development and, in severe cases, cause obstruction of the small intestine. Various factors, such as hygiene practices, can influence the transmission of Ascaris lumbricoides infection in children. This study aims to explore the association between hygiene practices and the occurrence of Ascaris lumbricoides infection in children. A systematic review was carried out, and articles were searched in four databases: PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and ProQuest. Subsequently, the articles were selected based on specific criteria. Five articles were identified during the search. These articles revealed a significant association between handwashing habits, toilet usage, and washing fruits before consumption with the occurrence of Ascaris lumbricoides infection. On the other hand, there was no significant association found between washing vegetables before consumption and trimming nails and the occurrence of Ascaris lumbricoides infection in children.

Abstract

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022 reported that 35.3 persen of women and 31.2 persen of men aged 15-19 have limited or no awareness of reproductive health. The rise of vocational students who are often caught in raids with several cases including sexual deviations is a fatal impact of the lack of reproductive health knowledge on adolescence. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors associated with reproductive health knowledge among vocational students in Padang City. A cross-sectional quantitative research was conducted in July-September 2023 among 538 students at SMK in Padang, with a sample of 85 people selected using stratified random sampling technique. Data was collected through a questionnaire with an interview method, and univariate and bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The study found a significant relationship between parental role (p equal to 0.037), peer influence (p equal to 0.018), and media influence (p equal to 0.018) with reproductive health knowledge in vocational students. It is recommended that students seek information from trusted sources related to reproductive health, to ensure accurate and useful understanding.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of cigarette users in the younger generation is clear evidence that cigarettes are increasingly popular, especially e-cigarettes. Misinformation and misperceptions circulating in the community as well as the role of the media add to concerns about the impact that e-cigarettes can have. Therefore, a transformation of health promotion efforts to save future generations from the dangers of e- cigarettes is needed. This study aimed to analyze the effect of health promotion media in reducing the willingness to smoke e- cigarettes in adolescents. This study used a quantitative analytic design with primary data. The instrument used was a questionnaire which was filled out independently by the respondents. Data collection was carried out online using a small group trial. Data analysis was using Mc Nemar test. The bivariate analysis showed that the three challenges had an impact in the form of increasing knowledge and perceptions. On the knowledge variable, the whole challenge gave a significant increase with the results of sig. 0.025 on the challenge of providing visual media socialization, sig. 0.014 on the challenge of providing audio-visual media socialization, and sig. 0.008 on the active participation challenge. Adolescent perceptions also increased before and after a series of challenges was given. The provision of health promotion with these three challenges had a significant difference of sig. 0.031 on adolescent perceptions. There were differences in adolescent knowledge and perceptions of e-smoking behavior through the using of health promotion media. The most effective method used in changing the knowledge and perceptions of adolescents is to use the active participation of adolescents.
