Abstract

This article examines the evolving legal frameworks governing data privacy and cybersecurity in the contemporary digital landscape. As technological advancements continue to reshape how personal data is collected, processed, and utilized, legal systems worldwide are confronted with unprecedented challenges in balancing innovation with individual rights protection. Through comparative analysis of major jurisdictional approaches including the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and emerging regulatory frameworks in Asia-Pacific regions, this study identifies key convergence points and divergences in global data protection regimes. The research further explores the legal implications of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, biometrics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) on privacy and security paradigms. Findings indicate that while regulatory fragmentation remains a significant challenge, there is growing international consensus around core principles of transparency, consent, data minimization, and security by design. The article concludes by proposing a harmonized approach to data privacy and cybersecurity regulation that accommodates technological innovation while ensuring robust protection of fundamental rights in the digital age.

Abstract

Cleft lip and palate (CLP) is a congenital condition that not only affects children physically but also creates emotional challenges for parents. In dealing with this situation, parents require both informational and emotional support from their social environment. One form of support emerges through digital communities such as the WhatsApp group “Satu Senyum,” which serves as a platform for parents of children with CLP to share experiences. This study aims to analyze interpersonal communication within the WhatsApp community “Satu Senyum.” The research employs a qualitative approach using content analysis of conversations among community members. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication in the community is characterized by openness in sharing experiences, empathy toward other members, supportive interactions through information exchange, positive attitudes in providing encouragement, and equality in communication among members. These findings suggest that the WhatsApp community functions as a communication space that fosters social support and strengthens relationships among parents of children with CLP.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of using Instagram as a writing teaching tool and to explore students’ perceptions of its implementation in Indonesian EFL classrooms. A quantitative research design employing a survey method was utilized, involving undergraduate students from the English Education Department at UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed via Google Forms and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages and mean scores. The findings indicate that Instagram has a positive effect on students’ writing learning, particularly in enhancing writing practice and engagement. Furthermore, students’ perceptions toward the use of Instagram fall into a moderate to high category, suggesting that the platform is considered a useful and supportive learning tool. Aspects such as motivation, interaction, and engagement were also identified as contributing factors in supporting the writing learning process. However, the effectiveness of Instagram largely depends on its pedagogical integration within the classroom.

Abstract

User experience is part of the most important aspects to consider in developing a website. Measuring user experience would lead to creating better websites, especially websites that specialize in digital archives such as Digital Public Library of America. As one of the leading countries in digital preservation and specializing in manuscripts and historical artifacts, the Digital Public Library of America website is one of the main sources of information that people access to retrieve information regarding that subject. Large amounts of preserved manuscripts are digitalized and open to public access. Users are able to reach a wide category of historical archives through a single medium, thus allowing a larger audience as it can reach people outside of America. Through usability testing, interviews and systematic literature review, several aspects of user experience become the main highlights and key points of the Digital Public Library of America website. This study employs a qualitative methodology by gathering data through interviews, direct observations, and literature review. Its main contribution is offering a strategic framework for developing comparable websites while addressing user requirements.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the rebranding communication strategy implemented by SmartOne Solo branch following the change of ownership from Printex Solo. The rebranding was driven by differences in vision and mission between the two owners after two years of operation, which ultimately led to a full acquisition by SmartOne and a change in brand identity. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method and a constructivist paradigm to understand the process of constructing new meaning through communication between the company and the public. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the rebranding communication strategy was carried out through systematic stages, including internal alignment, identity transformation, external communication, IMC implementation, and brand reinforcement. This communication integration reflects the application of Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC), which emphasizes message consistency and coordination across communication channels. The communication strategy has proven to effectively increase public brand awareness of SmartOne Solo, as indicated by the growing recognition and use of the brand name in daily interactions. This study confirms that the success of rebranding is not solely determined by changes in visual identity, but also by the effectiveness of an integrated, consistent, and sustainable communication strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the synergy between individual capacity and organizational support in lecturer career development at private higher education institutions. A qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that individual capacity comprising academic competence, intrinsic motivation, and personality characteristics plays a significant role in promoting lecturer career development. However, such capacity cannot be optimized without adequate organizational support, including a conducive academic culture, supportive leadership, and a structured career management system. The lack of synergy between individual and organizational factors is identified as one of the main causes of career stagnation. Therefore, lecturer career development requires an integrative approach that combines strengthening individual capacity with continuous institutional improvement. Abstract

Trafficking in persons, or human trafficking, is a complex form of human rights violation because it involves exploitation, violence, deception, abuse of a position of vulnerability, and weak social protection for victims. This study aims to analyze the profile of trafficking in persons in Indonesia, identify response efforts undertaken by government and non-governmental organizations, and formulate a social rehabilitation model for victims of trafficking in persons. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through documentation studies, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions with victims of trafficking in persons, victims' families, case workers, and administrators of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (Serikat Buruh Migran Indonesia/SBMI) at the research sites. The findings show that victims of trafficking generally come from poor families, have low levels of education, face limited access to decent work, and are recruited through non-procedural channels. Victims experienced labor exploitation, physical and psychological violence, document confiscation, communication restrictions, unpaid wages, and psychosocial trauma. Current case responses remain dominated by repatriation, legal advocacy, and family reunification, while post-trauma social rehabilitation has not yet been implemented systematically. From a social work perspective, victims of trafficking require a person-in-environment approach, trauma-informed care, a rights-based approach, case management, and socio-economic reintegration. This study recommends an integrated social rehabilitation model that includes identification, comprehensive assessment, initial protection, shelter services, psychosocial support, legal assistance, health services, economic empowerment, family reunification, social reintegration, and continuous monitoring.

Abstract

Providing quality healthcare is a state responsibility as mandated by Article 34(3) and Article 28H of the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia. However, malpractice issues in the healthcare sector remain a critical concern. This study aims to analyze the legal protection for medical and healthcare professionals accused of malpractice under Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health. It also examines the role of professional organizations in assisting their members in facing malpractice allegations in accordance with Article 440 of the law. Case studies on three legal matters highlight the importance of adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to protect patients from medical negligence. The findings reveal that although the law provides legal protection, its practical implementation often falls short. Therefore, public education, enhanced oversight, and regulatory improvements are necessary. Legal protection is not only intended to safeguard healthcare professionals but also to ensure justice and legal certainty for all parties involved.
