Abstract

Teacher Professional Education (PPG) is seen as a strategic instrument to improve the quality of teachers, but factual achievements need to be reviewed further. This study aims to analyze the pedagogic and professional competence of teachers after participating in PPG by examining the relationship between the two in teaching practice. The study uses a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design. The subject of the study is 859 alumni of the Pre-Service PPG of the State University of Malang class of 2022–2023 who have been actively teaching. Data was collected through a Likert scale questionnaire that had been validated by experts, including 23 indicators of pedagogic competence and 25 indicators of professional competence. The analysis was carried out descriptively and inferentially with the Spearman's rho correlation test. The results of the study showed that the pedagogic and professional competence of PPG alumni was in the high category, with the tendency of respondents' answers in the category of agree and strongly agree. The dimension of the use of learning technology obtained the highest score on pedagogic competence, while mastery of teaching materials occupied the dominant position in professional competence. However, the aspect of self-reflection in professional competence is relatively lower. The Spearman's rho correlation test yielded a coefficient of 0.863 (p < 0.001), indicating a strong positive relationship between pedagogic and professional competence. This indicates that mastery of pedagogic aspects is closely correlated with strengthening professional competence, and vice versa. These findings confirm the effectiveness of PPG in equipping novice teachers with core competencies, although it is still necessary to strengthen self-reflection, consistency of technology integration, and balance administrative burden. The implications of this research provide direction for PPG organizers to expand field practices, strengthen teacher guidance, and develop sustainable coaching strategies to produce adaptive teachers in the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract

Chemistry has an important role in global challenges. Chemistry learning has not integrated an interdisciplinary approach to improving students' chemical literacy, enabling them to provide solutions to socio-scientific and environmental problems through the application of chemical concepts. This study aimed to determine the effect of the socio-scientific issues-based challenge strategy on students' chemical literacy. This study used a quantitative methods design with an embedded model. The sample consisted of tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 East Halmahera in the 2025/2026 academic year from two sample classes. The experimental class was taught with the socio-scientific issues-based challenges strategy, while the control class used conventional learning. The research instrument was a multiple-choice chemical literacy test with a content validity of 82.02% and a Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.983. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the literacy of students from the two research classes (ɑ = 0.05), and quantitatively and descriptively, the chemical literacy of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class. The socio-scientific issues-based challenge strategy has positive implications for student learning in and outside the classroom, positive implications for student skills, and contains socio-scientific and environmental contexts that have positive implications for the meaning of learning.

Abstract

In the 21st‐century digital era, education faces challenges in integrating innovative technologies with relevant curricula, particularly in elementary‐level cultural diversity learning that still relies on traditional methods and lacks engaging media. This study analyzes the effectiveness of integrating Project‐Based Learning (PjBL) with TikTok videos to enhance primary students’ understanding of cultural diversity through a comprehensive systematic literature review. Keyword searches in Google Scholar, Scopus, the Indonesian Publication Index, and university journal portals yielded 48 articles, of which 25 met inclusion criteria—15 quasi‐experimental studies, 6 descriptive studies, and 4 meta‐analyses (14 national, 11 international). Findings reveal that optimal PjBL implementation increases cognitive learning outcomes by up to 90.91%; TikTok‐supported lessons achieve a 4.15 Likert‐scale cognitive engagement score and 71% overall effectiveness; multicultural collaboration skills rise by 15% per cycle; students’ tolerance and empathy improve by up to 30%; creativity reaches 87%; and authentic project relevance scores 94%. The PjBL‐TikTok model thus offers an innovative, culturally responsive strategy, with recommendations to integrate digital multicultural curricula and build teacher capacity in designing multiform projects. The TikTok-based PjBL model thus emerges as a relevant and effective learning strategy to address the increasingly complex challenges of global education.

Abstract

To improve the reading skills of first-grade elementary school students in Indonesian, particularly in relation to reading, this project aims to create picture card-based learning materials. The five steps of the ADDIE development model, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation, were used in the research and development (R&D) process. Pretests and posttests, expert validation, questionnaires, interviews, and observations were some of the methods used to collect data. Experts in content, media, and language verified the media that had been created, and feedback from teachers and students assessed its usefulness. With a feasibility rating of 94% from media experts, 91% from content experts, and 90% from language experts, the validation findings showed that this learning media was very practical. With a score of 66% from students and 97% from teachers, the practicality was evaluated as practical. Students' conceptual knowledge increased when tested using the N-Gain score distribution category (g > 0.5), which falls into the moderate category. Additionally, an N-Gain score > 52 for the effective interpretation category is part of effective interpretation. Therefore, these picture cards are efficient and suitable for use in elementary classes as teaching aids for Indonesian language.
