Abstract

This research elaborates on the results of Islamic education policy research with the object of reviewing regulations on the administration of secondary and tertiary education issued in the 2006-2020 period. Based on the main task and function of the Minister of Religion contained in Presidential Regulation Number 83 of 2015 is to administer the government in the field of religion. The scope of authority for administering education is also in the area of religion, as emphasized in Government Regulation No. 55 of 2007. Since Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System, there has been a fundamental change in implementing Islamic education. The Minister of Religious Affairs has a wider mandate in the education sector that extends to non-religious fields. This is marked by the widespread establishment of academic madrasas at the secondary level and institutional transformation to UIN at the higher education level. The Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs No. 90 of 2013 concerning the Implementation of Madrasas Education and The Regulation of the Minister of Religious Affairs No. 15 of 2014 concerning the changes in the Form of Religious Higher Education Institutions confirms the basis for changes in the orientation of the implementation of secondary and higher education. At the Madrasah Aliyah level, the development of non-religious study programs is growing faster than religious study programs. At the Islamic higher education level, students with a religious education background are smaller than those with a general education background.

Abstract

Madrasahs in the perception of some people are still seen as lowquality education. However, the existence of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Insan Cendekia (MAN IC) in Indonesia and the Imam-Hatip School (IHS) in Turkey seeks to ward off this perception through institutional modernization. This study aims to reveal the model of Islamic education in MAN IC and IHS by comparing the two in several aspects. Where this study uses the method of literature review through data sourced from scientific articles, both indexed by Scopus and Sinta 1-2. The results of this study indicate that MAN IC and HIS: 1) are modern Islamic educational institutions under the auspices of government; 2) aims to produce graduates who are equally qualified, both in the realm of religion and science; 3) having a curriculum that combines Islamic religious education, culture, science, and technology; 4) have teachers who are professional and competent in their respective fields; 5) using the mechanism of the entrance selection test for prospective students; 6) implementing a boarding program with excellent standard facilities for students so they can focus on studying and take part in intensive international language training. Based on the results of this study that MAN IC and Imam Hatip are modern Islamic Education models that are quite ideal, especially at the higher secondary level, so it is expected to be a reference material for Islamic education practitioners in Indonesia in this modern era.

Abstract

The growing prevalence of teenagers engaging with the internet poses a multifaceted challenge, demanding a concerted response. With issues ranging from exposure to illicit content to the potential risks of online behavior, adolescents necessitate guidance to navigate the digital realm safely and ethically. The need for a Quranic-based digital literacy curriculum arises from the imperative to provide teenagers with a comprehensive framework for navigating the internet that goes beyond mere technical skills. By framing digital literacy within a Quranic context, students can learn to utilize the internet in a healthy and ethical manner, while also gaining a deeper understanding of their role in society. Throughout the curriculum, students would engage in reflection activities where they connect Quranic teachings to their own digital experiences. This article discusses the development of a Quran-based Digital Literacy Curriculum for students in MTs. Terpadu Ar-Roihan Lawang Malang. The curriculum was developed using the Research and Development method through ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model, and aimed to address the misuse of personal information and content on the internet. The curriculum was designed to provide students with clear learning objectives, guidance on how to navigate digital challenges, and reflection on Quranic verses related to digital literacy. Based on the validation conducted by four qualified assessors specializing in media and curriculum content, the Quran-based digital literacy curriculum has been assessed to be of high quality. The average scores for both the curriculum media (3.75) and curriculum content (3.88) indicate strong performance in both aspects. Moreover, the total average score of 3.82 suggests an overall very good curriculum product. The curriculum also evaluated on students, with positive feedback received from both students and teachers. Both students and teachers noted that the curriculum's focus on real-life scenarios and practical skills made the content highly relevant.  Suggestions for future research include expanding the curriculum to a broader audience, evaluating the effectiveness over a longer period, exploring the integration of technology, and investigating the effectiveness in addressing other digital literacy topics.

Abstract

According to many studies, emotional intelligence is a crucial factor that can contribute to the success of the academic and non-academic domains. This research aimed to assess the emotional intelligence of Islamic students in higher education. The participants in this research were 151 Islamic higher education students. The researcher employed the survey technique with Likert scale parameters. This research empirically states that 39 emotional intelligence measuring instruments were spread into five dimensions. The construct validity results using factor analysis showed that the items that had been successfully estimated were 39 indicators that were higher than 0.50. Of the 56 items, 14 items were invalid based on the MSA value in stage one, namely items 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 on the understanding self-emotions dimensions, item 24 on the managing self-emotions dimensions, items 25 and 34 on the self-motivation dimensions, and items 36, 39, 40, 41, 42, and 43 on the building relationships with other people dimensions. Furthermore, for understanding other people's emotions, all of the items’ MSA values were above 0.5. In the second stage, the assessment was based on the loading factor. Three items were invalid because they did not meet the requirements. The three items were item 1 of the understanding self-emotions dimension, items 10 and 13 on managing self-emotions dimensions. For the other three dimensions, all of the items’ loading factors were higher than 0.50. Likewise, the reliability index in the first stage was 0.761, and the reliability index in the second stage was 0.817 (both indexes were higher than 0.70). Therefore, the emotional intelligence instrument could be declared reliable.

Therefore, strategic plans must be developed in compliance with standards and guidelines that can direct policies regarding educational quality. This study aims to compare the relevance of Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions' strategic plans to the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia's strategic plans for developing religious higher education quality. The descriptive analytical method was used in the research to understand the actual reality.Furthermore, researchers conducted extensive research to assess the strategic plan for higher education development. The data sources for this study were gathered by employing the snowball technique. The researcher gathered the data through documentation and online interviews. The principle of Verstehen was used to conduct data analysis concurrently with data collection. The findings revealed that the content, structure, and systematics of the State Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions' strategic plans differ. This difference is due to university autonomy and the low relevance of the strategic plans of State Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. At the time of this research, no main reference was used in preparing the strategic plan of the State Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions that referred to the strategic plan of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
