Abstract

In Indonesia, religious issues have emerged as a subject of intense debate and polemic. Conflicting religious claims often incite debates and hostilities purportedly in the name of faith. In certain instances, the emergence of inter-religious conflicts in Indonesia is exacerbated by exclusionary perspectives on religion. This study aims to critically examine the concept of Islamic theology within the context of Indonesia’s pluralistic society, characterized by its rich religious diversity. Employing a qualitative research methodology with a descriptive-analytical approach, this research utilizes library research to gather a variety of thematic literature. The findings indicate that Indonesia is a nation marked by significant religious plurality. In this context, Islam, as an inherently open faith, embraces inclusivism and pluralism, which serve as essential frameworks for mitigating interfaith conflicts arising from competing religious truth claims. Consequently, the promotion of inclusivist and pluralist perspectives in religion fosters a culture of tolerance, thereby facilitating a harmonious coexistence among adherents of diverse faiths.

Abstract

Globalization changes morality and human thought patterns in the world of education. Students experience a shift in behavior towards ancestral culture. This study looks at students' attention to recognize cultural heritage objects in the midst of the onslaught of the era of fast information through social media. This research uses an anthropological approach to education, through observation, interviews, and documentation studies by looking at the decline in character education found in various cases in society. This research shows that cultural heritage objects in Jepara, Mantingan Mosque and Kartini Museum have values as local wisdom of Jepara as a form of character education for the younger generation. Mantingan Mosque is the center of Islamic civilization in Jepara from the beginning of its establishment until now, among others as a place to deepen the teachings of Islam and learn history. The history of the Mantingan Mosque shows that Islam has interacted with the culture that existed before Islam entered Jepara, namely China. The birth of the Kartini Museum is a form of respect for RA. Kartini. The story of RA. Kartini that can be seen from these historical objects have values or meanings for the current generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dual function of this tradition as a mechanism for annulling Javanese marital taboos and an instrument for strengthening social cohesion in Bojonegoro society, employing an anthropological-sociological approach. The research utilized a qualitative case study method through participant observation, in-depth interviews with 14 informants, and document studies. Data were analyzed thematically using an interdisciplinary approach, integrating perspectives from Ehrlich's Legal Anthropology, Merton's Structural Functionalism, and Durkheim's Social Solidarity theory. The findings reveal that Malem Songo functions as a living law, offering a cultural solution for couples facing customary taboos (such as Jilu and incompatible weton calculations), while simultaneously serving as a strategic moment to strengthen bonding and bridging social capital through homecoming (mudik) and mass weddings. It is concluded that this tradition is a self-reinforcing socio-cultural system achieved through the dialectic of its annulment and solidarity functions. The importance of education that balances tradition preservation with a rational understanding of customary values is suggested.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the readiness of PAI teachers in implementing the Independent Curriculum, supporting and inhibiting factors, and efforts made to improve its implementation. The study used a case study method with a qualitative approach at MTs Negeri 2 Tangerang and MTs Yabika Jambe, Tangerang Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving four PAI teachers as the main subjects, as well as the head of the madrasah, deputy head of curriculum, and head of the foundation as key informants. The results of the study showed that at MTs Negeri 2 Tangerang, PAI teachers were cognitively, psychologically, and financially ready, supported by the DIPA budget, ASN/PPPK status, and government policies. The main obstacles included teacher workload, time constraints, and inadequate IT facilities. Meanwhile, at MTs Yabika Jambe, teachers' cognitive and financial readiness were considered sufficient, while psychological readiness was considered ready, supported by the foundation's commitment, internet access, and community support. Inhibiting factors include limited learning time, financial constraints, and suboptimal understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum concept. Efforts made by both madrasas include Merdeka Curriculum training, development of differentiated RPP and P5RA, collaboration with madrasah principals and other teachers, utilization of digital technology, and involvement of parents and the community.

Abstract

The development of social media has made it easier to disseminate religious information, including in the field of hadith. However, this opens up space for the dissemination of weak traditions (dha'if) that are not necessarily authentic. This study aims to explore the pattern of the spread of weak traditions on social media in the Instagram account @Hadits_lemah. The method used is library research with a semiotic approach. This research will reveal three things, first the characteristics of weak traditions in the @Hadits_lemah account, second the pattern of spreading weak traditions in the account and third the strategy to minimize the spread of weak traditions on social media. The result is that the characteristics of weak traditions are varied and contemporary in nature. The pattern of the spread of weak traditions has been identified by the form of presentation of the content and the response of the netizens, while the strategy to minimize it is by collaboration between scholars and experts in Technology to ensure the validity of the traditions that will be practiced by ordinary people in the digital realm.

Abstract

The spread of hoaxes is one of the growing social challenges in the digital age, especially when information can spread widely without adequate verification. The Quran, as a source of ethics and guidance for life, provides important principles for addressing this phenomenon. Surah an-Nur verse 11, which recounts the story of the hadis ifki (false news) attributed to Aisya r.a, offers a moral and methodological framework for understanding the dangers of slander and how to anticipate it. This study aims to analyze this verse using a thematic and tafsīr maudhū’i approach in order to explore the values of the Quran related to caution in receiving news, verifying information, and the prohibition of spreading information that has not been proven to be true. The results of the study show that this verse not only emphasizes spiritual and ethical aspects, but also provides a concept of communication that is relevant to the current context. These principles of the Quran can be used as a foundation for building digital literacy and ethics in the use of social media, so that the public is able to anticipate and prevent the spread of hoaxes more effectively.

Abstract

This study examines the symbolic meaning and cultural communication practices in the Timbung war ritual tradition in Pejanggik, Central Lombok. This tradition, rooted in historical values and ancestral heritage, is an important part of social identity, religious values, and community harmony. This study aims to analyze the symbolic interaction, function, and meaning contained in each element of the ritual through a symbolic interactionism approach. The method used is qualitative with data collection through semi-structured interviews with traditional leaders, religious leaders, the community, and cultural actors. The results of the study show that the Timbung War functions as a communication ritual that strengthens social cohesion, preserves ancestral values, and integrates Islamic teachings through prayer and togetherness. Each symbol in the ritual, such as bamboo, water, offerings, and coordinated movements, contains meanings of purity, unity, protection, and respect for ancestors. The study concludes that the Timbung War is a cultural tradition that remains alive and preserved through regeneration and the active role of the community amid the tide of modernization. The findings of this study contribute to efforts to preserve local culture, strengthen community identity, and can be used as a reference in the development of cultural education programs and tradition preservation policies based on community participation.

Abstract

The ethical deterioration among university students in the globalization era has emerged as a significant concern, evidenced by diminishing academic integrity, departures from social standards, and the waning internalization of Islamic principles. This situation indicates that moral education by itself is inadequate unless it is based on a solid foundation of Islamic belief (aqidah). This research seeks to rebuild the conceptual foundation of Islamic aqidah and ethical education as a reaction to the decline in students' morality within the context of globalization. The study utilizes a qualitative descriptive library research approach by thoroughly examining books, both national and international journal articles, and other pertinent academic resources. The results indicate that the revitalization of Islamic aqidah and ethical education should be holistic and context-specific, establishing aqidah as the knowledge-based foundation for character development and akhlaq as its practical expression in everyday life. The incorporation of Islamic moral principles into the Merdeka Curriculum and campus environment is suggested as a strategic approach to cultivate devoted, ethical, moderate, and high-integrity university students to meet global challenges.

Abstract

This research aims to philosophically analyze K.H. Ahmad Dahlan’s educational thought as a solution to the crisis in balancing spirituality and rationality within Islamic education. This crisis originates from the dichotomy between religious sciences (ulum ad-din) and general sciences (ulum al-kaun), which leads to value disorientation and weak integration within the Islamic education system. The study uses qualitative methods with a library research design and a hermeneutic-philosophical analysis approach. Data is obtained from the works of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, biographical literature, and relevant previous research. Analysis is conducted through data reduction, thematic categorization based on ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions, and the interpretation of meaning using the framework of educational philosophy. The study reveals that K.H. Ahmad Dahlan developed an integrative educational philosophy that rejects scientific dualism and emphasizes the unity of revelation and reason. Ontologically, humans are viewed as spiritual-rational beings; epistemologically, knowledge derives from revelation and empirical reality; axiologically, knowledge must be realized in social practice. The novelty of this research lies in the systematic reconstruction of Dahlan's educational philosophy as a conceptual model relevant for the reform of modern Islamic education. This thought offers an integrative paradigm for developing value-based curricula, spiritual-digital literacy, and transformative social learning.

Abstract

Indonesia’s cultural diversity is reflected in the rich traditions of its indigenous communities, which function not only as spiritual expressions but also as mechanisms for maintaining social cohesion. However, modernization and changing lifestyles have increasingly challenged the sustainability of local traditions. This study aims to analyze the role of the Besawai–Bapelas ritual as a medium for preserving the values of togetherness and social solidarity within the Urang Kutai community of Kampung Adat Guntung, Bontang City, East Kalimantan. This research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with the head of adat and community members selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with triangulation applied to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that the Besawai–Bapelas ritual serves as a social glue that strengthens collective identity, reinforces solidarity, and sustains cultural continuity across generations. In conclusion, Besawai–Bapelas plays a vital role not only as a sacred tradition but also as a cultural strategy for maintaining social cohesion amid ongoing social change.
