Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the Aqidah Akhlak subject as an effective medium in instilling character values in students in madrasas. Amidst the moral crisis that is hitting the younger generation, character education has become a major focus in the national education system. As an integral part of Islamic education, Aqidah Akhlak learning has a strategic position in shaping the character of students who are faithful, honest, tolerant, and have noble character. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that Aqidah Akhlak learning is effective in internalising character values through the integration of faith material with students' daily practices. Values such as honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, discipline, as well as politeness and respect for teachers and parents are successfully instilled through teacher role models, habituation, and contextual learning. However, challenges were also found, such as less-than-optimal learning strategies, the negative influence of digital media, and weak control in the application of values outside the madrasah environment. Thus, it is necessary to strengthen the curriculum, innovate methodology, and increase the role of teachers as character facilitators in facing the challenges of the times. Keywords: Aqidah Akhlak, media, character values, students

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has had a significant impact on the world of education, including Arabic language learning. Arabic, which plays an important role in education and religion, is now increasingly in demand among young people who are familiar with digital technology. This study uses a qualitative approach with library research methods to explore various technologies that can improve the effectiveness of Arabic language learning for young people. The inclusion criteria in this study include academic literature published between 2015 and 2024 that discusses the application of digital technology in Arabic language learning, while studies that are not relevant to the context of language education or are not technology-based are excluded. The results show that the use of mobile applications such as Duolingo and Memrise, online learning platforms such as Coursera and EdX, and interactive technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) not only increase learning flexibility but also strengthen students' immersive and participatory experiences. In addition, the use of educational games, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and social media contributes to increased motivation and independence in learning. Critically, this study highlights that the success of technology implementation is greatly influenced by the readiness of digital infrastructure, teacher competence, and the learning culture in Indonesia, which still tends to be conventional. Thus, the integration of technology in Arabic language learning needs to be accompanied by teacher training, curriculum adaptation, and supporting policies in order to be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the various administrative burdens faced by Islamic Religious Education teachers and the strategic efforts taken to maintain the effectiveness of the learning process. This study employed a qualitative approach, utilizing a case study method, with five Islamic Religious Education teachers at the elementary school level in Karangpandan District as the research subjects. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation reviews over a period of three months. Data were then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research is conceptually grounded in the theories of teacher professionalism and workload management, which provide a framework for understanding how teachers adapt to administrative pressures while maintaining instructional quality. The findings indicate that Islamic Religious Education teachers experience a variety of administrative pressures, including developing teaching materials, completing various administrative systems and performance reports, managing school documents, and carrying out additional administrative tasks. This burden has the potential to divert teachers' attention away from developing creative and innovative learning. Nevertheless, Islamic Religious Education teachers implement adaptive strategies such as efficient time management, utilizing digital technology, collaborating with colleagues, and simplifying administrative activities in accordance with school policies. These adaptive strategies help teachers maintain the quality of their teaching while fulfilling their primary function as educators and character builders of students.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of popular culture on the Islamic identity of students, particularly in the context of boarding school education. In the digital era, popular culture—manifested through K-pop, social media trends, and digital content—has become a dominant force shaping youth identity, often in contrast to Islamic values that emphasize modesty and spirituality. This research aims to analyze the direct impact of pop culture on students' Islamic identity and to examine the moderating role of educational environment management in Islamic boarding schools. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with a sample of 114 female students from Thursina IIBS Malang. The findings reveal a significant negative relationship between exposure to pop culture and Islamic identity. However, the quality of educational environment management significantly moderates this relationship, reducing the negative impact. The results highlight that structured and value-based boarding school environments can function as a buffer against external cultural pressures. This study contributes to Islamic education management literature by providing empirical evidence on how institutional religious environments can reinforce student identity amidst global cultural trends.
