Abstract

West Kalimantan Province has five Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), one of which is the Randayan MPA. It is located in Bengkayang Regency abd was officially established in 2019 through Peraturan Daerah Provinsi Kalimantan Barat No. 1. One of the mandated activities was public education on conservation, which mostly targeted adults whose livelihoods depended on the extraction of natural resources. Concerning the conservation awareness gap for teenagers and children, our Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa (PKM) initiated the application of the concepts of Social Capital and Bandura’s Social Learning Theory to facilitate this the community. It was found that the involvement of multi stakeholders supports the well-rounded learning experience for the children and teenagers in enchancing their awareness about the conservation of marine ecosystem and the life of under water. Online guest lecture from Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries as well as guided learning process by undergraduate students through their community service program are some of the influential initiatives.

Abstract

Standardizing marine tourism services is essential to ensure the quality and safety of visitors. With standardization, marine tourism service providers can ensure that all aspects of services, such as equipment, facilities, and human resources, meet the established criteria. This will increase visitor confidence and reduce the risk of accidents. In addition, standardization also helps improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services so that visitors can enjoy a better tourism experience. Standardization of marine tourism services also has a positive impact on the local economy and environment. With increasing service quality, tourists will be more likely to return and recommend the destination, thereby increasing local economic income. Therefore, we must implement and strictly monitor the standardization of marine tourism services to maintain the quality and sustainability of the marine environment. A standard operating procedure (SOP) document embodies the realization of service standardization. We prepared the SOP through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Soetan Island management. Four FGDs took place, leading to the creation of four SOP documents for Soetan Island's marine tourism services. This SOP document is a guide for Soetan Island Tourism Management in providing services to tourists, which support the realisation of decent work and service that leads to the economic growth.

Abstract

“Seger Waras,” which means healthy and fit, referred to important aspects of well-being for the elderly, including those at the Melati Bendosari Elderly Posyandu, in supporting their functional independence. Due to degenerative factors, the elderly were at risk of declining health and fitness, which could interfere with their daily functional activities. To address this, the Pondok Simbah program was developed. It consisted of the Simbah Pinter, Simbah Njangkah, and Simbah Seger components and involved Posyandu cadres, elderly participants, and their families. The program aimed to improve the knowledge of cadres, the elderly, and their families regarding elderly health and fitness, and to enhance the physical fitness of the elderly, measured using the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT). The program included the development of the Simbah Njangkah mobile application, which was made available on the Play Store to support the 5000-step daily exercise routine for the elderly. The program ran for approximately two months and began with Simbah Pinter, a counseling session on health and fitness for cadres, elderly participants, and their families, including training on how to use the application. This was followed by weekly monitoring and evaluation of the 5000-step exercise. After the counseling sessions, there was an increase in knowledge about elderly health and fitness among participants. In addition, elderly fitness levels improved, as shown by a 68 percent increase in the number of individuals who achieved high fitness scores on the 6MWT. The Pondok Simbah program proved to be highly beneficial in improving the health and fitness of the elderly at the Melati Bendosari Elderly Posyandu.

Abstract

The integration of technology in mathematics education has garnered increasing attention for its potential to enhance students’ understanding of abstract concepts. This study examined the implementation of a GeoGebra-based training program for pre-service mathematics teachers at Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (UNSIKA), focusing on improving their visualization skills in transformation geometry. The training employed a project-based learning approach, incorporating online instruction, group projects, and collaborative discussions. Results indicated that GeoGebra effectively strengthened participants’ conceptual grasp of geometric transformations, as evidenced by high project completion rates and positive survey feedback. Recorded instructional videos significantly supported self-paced learning, with 84.4% of participants utilizing these resources for project completion. However, challenges in comprehending coordinate transformations suggested a need for further guidance and targeted exercises. The study underscored GeoGebra’s efficacy in advancing mathematical visualization skills and advocated for its wider adoption in mathematics teacher education. Future research should investigate extended training durations and adaptive learning strategies to address conceptual difficulties more thoroughly.

Abstract

Natural disasters produce both immediate and prolonged psychological consequences, including stress, anxiety, and depression. These effects require comprehensive interventions combining stress management strategies with the Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT). This study aimed to enhance mental health cadres' capacity to support disaster resilience programs in agricultural communities, focusing on Indonesia's disaster-prone Lumajang District. The research implemented a two-phase intervention: First, 30 health cadres received training using a quantitative pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test evaluations. Second, these trained cadres conducted home visits for 80 community members, with outcomes measured using the PTSD Checklist (PCL-5). Results demonstrated significant improvements across both cadres and community members. Cadres' stress management knowledge increased substantially from an average pre-test score of 50% (poor category) to 76.6% (good category) post-intervention. Most importantly, SEFT implementation reduced PTSD symptoms among community members from 41.25% to 11.25%. The study also revealed high participant engagement, with all 30 cadres completing training and demonstrating strong knowledge retention. These findings confirm that targeted training in SEFT and stress management can effectively enhance mental health cadres' professional capabilities. By strengthening frontline responders' skills, communities gain greater capacity to address post-disaster psychosocial challenges and build long-term resilience. The research highlights the value of integrating evidence-based psychological interventions with community health worker programs, particularly in vulnerable agricultural regions facing recurrent disasters. This cadre-centered approach offers a sustainable model for improving mental health outcomes in disaster-affected populations while supporting broader disaster preparedness initiatives. Where it will also support the achievement of SDG 3.

Abstract

Waste management in the Nusa Penida tourism area, Bali Province, is a major concern in maintaining environmental and tourism sustainability. Serious problems related to waste management in the Bali region, especially Nusa Penida, inspired the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) Period 2 Nirwana KKN Team to carry out activities to empower the public. Through qualitative methods using Forum Group Discussions (FGD) and interviews, the KKN Team succeeded in identifying multidimensional waste problems, including cultural and structural dimensions in the region. Therefore, in formulating solutions, the focus should not only be on improving facilities, but also on increasing public awareness as a whole. And it is best if the initiation that is designed is bottom-up and prioritizing audiences from community groups. In this regard, the KKN Team developed a four-step solution, which includes education on waste sorting, a TOSS (Local Waste Processing Site) survey, introduction of eco-enzymes from organic waste, and the creation of the tools named Holzewiq to process plastic waste. Significant results can be seen in increasing public awareness regarding waste issues, fulfilling community aspirations regarding waste management facilities, and the effectiveness of TOSS. The Eco-Enzyme program and the Holzewiq tool also produce positive public response. The KKN team succeeded in processing 5 kg of inorganic waste into sustainable products. With active community participation, this project makes a real contribution to waste management and has the potential to create continuity in the long term.

Abstract

River pollution in Indonesia represents a significant environmental challenge that tends to escalate alongside the growth of human activities. The engagement of local communities in “citizen science” initiatives facilitated by the BrantaSae platform plays a crucial role in collecting scientific data, particularly in comprehending the extent of ecological harm. Participation in community service activities related to “citizen science” offers a viable approach to rectifying environmental degradation and enhancing public consciousness regarding the significance of ecosystem health. A notable endeavor in this realm involves the cleanup of waste within water sources like rivers and drainage systems, a campaign known as “RIVERlution”. Moreover, the cleaning process entails the categorization of the gathered waste materials. Analysis of the waste items retrieved from the study site reveals a predominance of plastic waste, with LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) emerging as the most prevalent polymer type. Thus, the findings underscore the imperative of heightening public awareness and interventions to mitigate waste disposal into water bodies, alongside establishing more effective waste management infrastructures to foster substantial improvements in environmental sustainability and water quality.

Abstract

Dekso Tourism Village in Kulon Progo Regency, during its five-year period after establishment, faces difficulties to maintain and develop its tourism busines. Internal problems of the management become an obstacle to the development of the village so that it can compete with other tourism villages and has an economic impact on the community. The tourism village development program is one form of community-based development implementation. The active role of the community itself is very important in the management process. Therefore, this community service program was carried out to help solving the village’s problems through three stages of implementation methods, namely the process of awareness, capacitating, and enrichment. Improved governance was carried out by reorganizing the new management based on established criteria and referring to the collegial collective principle. Reorganization also includes strengthening institutional cooperation with BUMDes as the parent company, POKDARWIS and other organizations involved in the tourism village. In addition, in order to strengthen the tourism village governance, the formation of a village regulation (PerKal) on tourism villages is also part of this service program. This legal umbrella will encourage cooperation between related parties to be more systematic, protect tourism village activities, as well as be the guidelines for future tourism development in Banjararum.
