Abstract

Abstract

The rapid growth of Sharia FinTech applications in Indonesia has raised questions about user perceptions and experiences. This study employs a Netnographic approach to explore user feedback on Sharia FinTech apps through reviews posted on the Google Play store. The research analyzed 129 reviews from five Sharia FinTech applications between July and December 2023. The study reveals that 55.10% of users expressed overall satisfaction with the apps, appreciating their ease of use and Sharia compliance. However, significant challenges were identified, with 37.50% of negative reviews related to payment delays and interest issues. Other concerns included system errors, account creation difficulties, and poor customer service. These findings highlight the complex dynamics of user experiences with Sharia FinTech applications, demonstrating a generally positive reception but also pointing to critical areas for improvement. The study contributes to the understanding of Sharia FinTech adoption in Indonesia and provides valuable insights for application developers and Islamic microfinance institutions to enhance their services and address user concerns.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss user interface design analysis on the use of Sharia applications based on the technology acceptance model and sharia principles. This research wants to illustrate the assessment results of the initial view and know-how easy to use in a Sharia fintech application, namely Sharia funds. This study interviewed ten respondents from young and old, both young and old, who had not used this application or who were already using it. This study uses a type of qualitative research with the Grounded Theory method to explain the phenomenon specifically. The results showed that the User Interface in Dana Syariah application, which is assessed in terms of Consistency, Personality, Layout,  and control and affordances, could be said almost all views make it easy for users young and old. However, there are some drawbacks, perhaps due to less innovative colors. There are few constraints found for older and above average users who find it difficult to distinguish some of that application's particular functions. This research recommends Islamic fintech application providers to pay better attention to the user interface while inviting academics in Sharia economics to evaluate fintech applications' use to develop a faster Islamic economy.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the phenomenon in the field about the description of the comparison of risk management strategies between murabahah financing and mudharabah financing from the BMT side. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods, through data collection methods in the form of interviews. The researcher interviewed 9 respondents who have experience in dealing with the risks of murabahah financing and mudharabah financing at BMT. This study shows risk mitigation efforts so that risks do not occur in both contracts, namely BMT tightens the selection stage because in both contracts BMT must measure the level of business risk of its members in calculating profits or in returning funds so as not to have the opportunity to harm both parties and the financial statements must also be transparent. This study also suggests that in murabahah financing and mudharabah financing, BMT must strictly apply the precautionary and appropriate principles to maintain institutional health in order to minimize the risks that occur. This research is expected to be a reference for BMT in terms of innovative strategies to overcome the risks of mudharabah and murabahah financingRisk Management, Murabaha Financing, Mudhrabah Financing, Islamic Microfinance Institutions (BMT)

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of operational costs on bank profitability in Indonesia, focusing on the moderating roles of green banking practices and bank type (Islamic versus conventional). Using panel data from five Islamic and five conventional banks for 2022–2023, the analysis employs Chow, Hausman, and Lagrange Multiplier tests to determine the most appropriate model, with the Random Effect Model selected for hypothesis testing. The results show that operational costs significantly negatively affect bank profitability, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA), confirming that higher operational costs reduce profitability. While statistically insignificant, the moderating effect of green banking indicates a positive direction, suggesting that adopting green banking can potentially mitigate the negative impact of operational costs on profitability. Furthermore, the interaction between operational costs and bank type reveals that Islamic banks are less sensitive to operational cost increases than conventional banks. However, this moderating effect is also statistically insignificant. These findings highlight the importance of efficient cost management and the strategic adoption of green banking, especially in Islamic banks, to enhance profitability. The study contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence on the interplay between operational efficiency, sustainability practices, and bank type in the Indonesian banking sector.

Abstract

This study examines how government zakat institutions, specifically BAZNAS Solo, Boyolali, and Sragen, employ market-oriented fundraising strategies to enhance muzakki participation and trust in zakat distribution. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 10 BAZNAS officers and 10 muzakki, supplemented by relevant literature on market-oriented fundraising. The qualitative method was selected to capture the nuanced perspectives and contextual factors influencing the effectiveness of these strategies, which may not be fully understood through quantitative measures alone. The findings reveal that all three BAZNAS utilize digital applications (such as Simba lite and Muzakki Corner), community training, targeted socialization, and partnerships with online marketplaces and local organizations to increase zakat collection and public trust. However, challenges persist, including limited digital literacy among some donors and the need for improved transparency and accountability. These results highlight the importance of adaptive fundraising strategies for government zakat institutions and suggest that future research could benefit from a mixed-methods approach to evaluate the impact and scalability of these innovations.

Abstract

The global halal industry is growing rapidly, driven by the growth of the Muslim population and increasing demand for products that meet sharia standards and animal welfare. One of the central issues in this industry is the method of stunning in the slaughter of halal animals, which has sparked debate between sharia principles and modern animal welfare standards. This study conducts a comparative legal analysis of stunning methods in halal animal slaughter between majority Muslim countries (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia) and minority Muslim countries (the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia). The results show that Muslim-majority countries generally accept stunning methods with strict conditions in accordance with Sharia principles, such as MUI Fatwa No. 12/2009 and Malaysian Halal standards, which permit stunning as long as the animal remains alive during slaughter. Conversely, Muslim-minority countries require stunning to meet international animal welfare standards, although they grant exceptions for ritual halal slaughter in the interest of religious freedom. The study also revealed differences in fatwas, such as Aceh's ban on all forms of stunning, which is deemed contrary to the principle of ihsan and increases animal suffering. These regulatory differences reflect the challenges of harmonizing Sharia principles with modern animal welfare standards and global market demands. Therefore, interdisciplinary dialogue between religious scholars, scientists, and halal industry stakeholders is essential to develop evidence-based stunning standards, operator training, and consumer education to support the sustainable and globally trusted modernization of the halal industry.
