Abstract

Preoperative is the period before surgery which often causes anxiety in patients. Anxiety can arise as a response to situations that are considered dangerous or threatening such as symptoms of shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat and dizziness. The family plays a very important role in providing support to patients so that it can reduce anxiety. This anxiety can also be reduced by fulfilling spiritual needs. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and spiritual needs with the level of anxiety of preoperative patients in the operating room of Pariaman Hospital. This study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted in the operating room of Pariaman Hospital on July 3-16, 2024. The study population was patients and their families and patients who were in the operating room of Pariaman Hospital. The study sample consisted of 43 people selected using the accidental sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using Chi Square at the α level = 5%. The results showed that most respondents had low family support, namely 24 people (55.8%) and lacking spiritual needs, namely 22 people (51.2%). The most common level of anxiety found was mild anxiety, which was 25 people (58.1%). There was a significant relationship between family support and anxiety levels (p-value = 0.001 <α = 0.05) and there was also a significant relationship between spiritual needs and anxiety levels (p-value = 0.002 <α = 0.05) of preoperative patients in the operating room of Pariaman Hospital. In conclusion, there is a relationship between family support and spiritual needs of preoperative patients in the operating room of Pariaman Hospital. It is hoped that families will be able to provide support and facilitate spiritual needs to reduce the level of anxiety of preoperative patients

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the factors that causes stroke. Stroke is one of the non-communicable diseases that is the leading cause of death and disability worldwide. The FAST (Face, Arms, Speech, and Times) method is one method that can be used to find out and detect stroke. Early detection of stroke with FAST is effective in accelerating the provision of interventions so as to minimize disability. This study aims to determine the effect of FAST method health education on the knowledge of families suffering from hypertension at the Sungai Limau Health Center. This type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design using a one group pretest posttest approach. The study was conducted on August 27, 2024. The sample consisted of 20 respondents with a total sampling technique. The instruments were in the form of questionnaires, Counseling Event Units (SAP) and leaflets. Data analysis used a paired t-test at α = 5%. The results showed that the knowledge of families suffering from hypertension before being given FAST method health education was in the poor category, namely 11 people (55%). The category of respondent knowledge became good, namely 13 people *65.0%) after being given FAST method health education. The results of the paired t-test showed a p-value = 0.000 <α = 0.05 which means that FAST method health education has an effect on the knowledge of families suffering from hypertension at the Sungai Limau Health Center. In conclusion, there is an effect of FAST method health education on the knowledge of families suffering from hypertension at the Sungai Limau Health Center. Suggestions, it is hoped that the Sungai Limau Health Center can provide regular counseling to all hypertension sufferers in this area.

Abstract

Objective: The development of digital technology has opened up enormous opportunities for the provision of health services, including mental health. One innovation that can improve access to psychosocial services is telephone-based counseling. This is particularly important for patients facing social stigma, physical limitations, or geographical barriers. As part of mental health services, mental health nurses play a crucial role in this counseling process. However, challenges such as non-verbal communication and limited technological training continue to hinder the optimization of these services. Methods: This quantitative descriptive study was conducted from April 12 to 16, 2025, at Prof. HB. Sa'anin Mental Hospital in Padang. Thirty-five mental health nurses were purposively selected as respondents. Data were collected through a questionnaire that measured perceptions regarding the ease of using telephone media, self-confidence levels, and barriers to implementing telephone-based counseling. Results : Most participants (57.1%) were aged between 31 and 40 years (45.7%). The results indicate that only 8.6% of respondents had ever participated in telephone-based counseling training. On average, respondents rated the use of the telephone for counseling as fairly easy (average 3.2), with a confidence level of 3.03. However, the ability to build therapeutic relationships was relatively low (2.83), indicating that there are issues with non-verbal communication. Conclusion : The results indicate that, although mental health nurses consider the telephone to be a positive counseling tool, there is still a need for better competence, especially in establishing therapeutic relationships. One of the main obstacles that must be overcome is the lack of training. Therefore, to improve service effectiveness, training in communication technology and approaches to building digital therapeutic relationships is needed.

Abstract

This literature review explores the application of transcultural nursing approaches in the homecare of individuals with mental disorders by caregivers. The findings reveal that culturally sensitive care significantly enhances communication, trust, and therapeutic outcomes. Training caregivers in cultural competence is essential to meet the diverse needs of patients, reduce stigma, and improve adherence to treatment. The study highlights the importance of systemic support, family involvement, and continued education to develop inclusive and humane mental health care practices.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the psychosocial conditions of caregivers who care for patients with mental disorders and identify their needs for guidance and counseling services. Using a quantitative approach with a descriptive design, 45 caregivers in the working area of the Pariaman City Community Health Center were selected as research respondents through random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measuring care burden, coping strategies, social support, and other psychosocial needs. The results of the study indicate that the majority of caregivers experience moderate to heavy care burdens, with dominant coping strategies being passive and religious in nature. The social support received primarily comes from the immediate family, while community support remains low due to stigma surrounding mental disorders. A total of 88.9% of caregivers reported needing counseling and guidance services. These findings underscore the importance of psychosocial assessment as a foundation for developing contextually appropriate counseling interventions to enhance caregivers' mental resilience and support patients' holistic recovery..

Abstract

Konseling kelompok adalah metode intervensi yang sangat efektif untuk mendukung perkembangan psikologis, emosional, dan sosial seseorang. Dengan berinteraksi dalam kelompok, anggota memiliki kesempatan untuk membahas berbagai permasalahan, mengembangkan keterampilan sosial, serta mendapatkan dukungan dari sesama anggota. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji fenomena transferensi dan kontra-transferensi dalam konseling kelompok serta dampaknya terhadap dinamika kelompok dan efektivitas terapi. Transferensi merujuk pada proyeksi perasaan dan pengalaman masa lalu anggota kelompok terhadap konselor atau anggota kelompok lain, sedangkan kontra-transferensi adalah respons emosional konselor terhadap anggota kelompok yang dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman pribadi konselor. Berdasarkan kajian literatur, transferensi dan kontra-transferensi dapat mempengaruhi kualitas interaksi dan hasil terapi kelompok. Pengelolaan yang efektif terhadap kedua fenomena ini sangat penting untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung pertumbuhan psikologis anggota kelompok. Strategi yang diidentifikasi dalam penelitian ini termasuk kesadaran diri, fasilitasi diskusi terbuka, dan penggunaan pendekatan integratif untuk memaksimalkan manfaat dari transferensi dan kontra-transferensi dalam proses konseling kelompok.

Abstract

Digital transformation has changed the paradigm of guidance and counseling (BK) services in educational institutions. This study aims to identify challenges and summarize various innovations in BK service management in the digital era through a review of scientific literature. The method used is a literature review with a qualitative descriptive approach to relevant sources published between 2015 and 2024. The findings reveal that the main challenges in digital BK management include technological literacy gaps, infrastructure limitations, and ethical and data security issues related to clients. On the other hand, emerging innovations include the use of online platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet, integration of AI chatbots, e-supervision systems, and the utilization of social media and mobile-based counseling applications. This study emphasizes the need to enhance counselors' digital competencies, strengthen ethical regulations, and provide institutional policy support to ensure the sustainability and relevance of digital BK services in the future.

Abstract

Mental health is an essential aspect of community well-being. Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder that frequently relapses without adequate family involvement. This community service activity aimed to enhance family understanding and skills in preventing relapse among schizophrenic patients through a mental health nursing education program at Puskesmas D. The methods included lectures, group discussions, care demonstrations, distribution of educational leaflets, and evaluation using pre- and post-tests. The activity involved 20 families of schizophrenic patients registered at Puskesmas D. The results showed an 85% increase in knowledge after the program and improved family participation in monitoring treatment and patient behavior. This activity highlights the importance of mental health nursing education in empowering families to prevent relapse in schizophrenic patients.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between the characteristics of schizophrenia clients and the level of self-care ability in the women's psychiatry ward at HB Saanin Mental Hospital, Padang. This type of analytical descriptive research with a research design using a cross sectional approach and sampling was carried out using a simple random sampling technique with a sample size of 39 respondents. The data collection tool was carried out using an observation sheet filled in by the researcher, and data processing was carried out using a computerized system. The research results obtained that most of the respondents (66.7%) were middle adults (31-60 years), Most of the respondents (56.4%) were married, Most of the respondents (64.1%) had a high level of education, Most Most of the respondents (59%) had the status of having been treated for a long time, the majority of respondents (48.7%) needed assistive devices to level their self-care abilities. There was a significant relationship between age and the level of self-care abilities (p value = 0.012 < 0.05), status marriage with the level of self-care ability (p value = 0.000 < 0.05), education with the level of self-care ability (p value = 0.000 < 0.05), and length of stay with the level of self-care ability in the women's psychiatric ward at HB Saanin Padang mental hospital ( p value = 0.000 < 0.05). For respondents, it should be possible to increase the client's ability to carry out self-care activities that have been given therapy by officers, so that the more they demonstrate the ability to carry out good self-care activities, the more it indicates that the client is approaching good awareness.

Abstract

Adolescence will experience a period of transition or transition from childhood to maturity which is marked by physical, hormonal, psychological, social and psychosocial changes (Batubara, 2010). Adolescent psychosocial problems experienced by adolescents in the world, one of which is depression, shows the prevalence of depression in adolescents. The purpose of this study was to determine psychosocial problems in adolescents in the city of Batam. Respondents in this study totaled 51 people who conducted research on 7 -20 October 2022. The results obtained were from psychosocial problems. Students who experience psychosocial problems from 52 respondents are very small, namely 2 (2.2%). students who experience psychosocial externalization problems are 4 (4.3). Researchers hope that efforts to increase health promotion regarding sexual deviant behavior in various places are planned and sustainable with various competent parties.
