Abstract

Abstract

Duch Eggplant rich in phytochemicals, such as polyphenols, flavonoids, and carotenoids. Studies have demonstrated the powerful antioxidant activity of these compounds, which can shield body cells from free radical-induced oxidative damage. The aim of this study is to determine the IC50 value of the antioxidant activity present in the skin of the Holland turnip. This study also has implications for human health. Knowing the anti-oxidant skin activity in the inviter allows us to estimate the potential benefits of protecting the body from oxidative damage. 1.1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil (DPPH) is the method employed. This method involves measuring the ability of the extract to neutralize the free radicals in DPPH. We will observe the color changes from purple to yellow and evaluate the free radical's capture capacity based on the degree of color change. The study's findings revealed an IC50 value of 41,019 ppm. The conclusion from the IC50 values obtained is that the methanol extract in the skin of the Dutch teranga has an antioxidant activity that is very strong to counter free radicals.

Abstract

Research on the antibacterial activity of Sea Grapes (Caulerpa racemosa) against Klebsiella pneumoniae and Micrococcus luteus is crucial due to the significant potential hazards posed by these bacteria. Klebsiella pneumoniae, a Gram-negative bacterium, can cause serious infections in the urinary and respiratory tracts, while Micrococcus luteus, a Gram-positive bacterium, often infects the skin of fish and humans. Sea Grapes, found in various Indonesian waters, contain secondary metabolites with potential as bioactive compounds in pharmaceuticals, including antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal agents. The high alkaloid content, especially Caulerpin, in C. racemosa demonstrates substantial potential for developing new antibacterial agents. Although previous research has shown moderate antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and ineffectiveness against Escherichia coli, further exploration of other bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and Micrococcus luteus could open new opportunities for discovering effective antibacterial compounds. The purpose of this research to know antibacterial activity fractions of sea grapes. The bacteria used were Micrococcus luteus and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The method used is  paper disc diffusion method. The antibacterial activity was tested using extract with concentration 25%, 75%, 100% and used a positive control Tetracycline 30 g/paper disk and a negative control using DMSO 10%. The results of the extract tested were the most active as an antibacterial extract with a concentration of 100% on Micrococcus luteus bacteria with an inhibitory power of 16.7 mm and on Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria which had an inhibitory power of 12.1% mm. The conclusion of this reseach the extract had antibacterial activity

Abstract

This study investigates the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) activity of leaf and gall fractions of Syzygium guineensis, a plant known for its traditional medicinal properties. The objective is to evaluate the cytotoxic potential of these fractions using BSLT, which is a reliable method for assessing toxicity. Leaf and gall samples were extracted using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol-water solvents. The cytotoxicity was quantified by determining the LC50 values for each fraction. The results indicated that the leaf fractions exhibited LC50 values of 29.45 ppm (n-hexane), 28.33 ppm (ethyl acetate), and 30.57 ppm (ethanol-water). For the gall fractions, the LC50 values were 27.80 ppm (n-hexane), 26.61 ppm (ethyl acetate), and 24.95 ppm (ethanol-water). All fractions demonstrated significant cytotoxic activity, categorizing them as highly toxic. This study highlights the potential of both leaf and gall fractions of Syzygium guineensis as sources of cytotoxic agents, warranting further investigation for therapeutic applications.

Abstract

Washing your hands is one way to remove germs and to avoid disease transmission. The habit of Indonesian children in washing their hands is still in the low category. At school, children not only learn, but there are many other activities that children can do at school, such as playing, touching or exchanging things with friends. Hand washing must be taught to children from an early age so that children have the habit of washing their hands, so that children avoid disease. Standard recommendations for preventing the spread of infection are through washing hands regularly using soap and clean water, implementing coughing and sneezing etiquette, avoiding direct contact with livestock or wild animals and avoiding close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory disease such as coughing and sneezing. Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is a set of behaviors that are practiced on a conscious basis as a result of learning that enables a person or family to help themselves in the field of health and play an active role in realizing public health. Healthy conditions can be achieved by changing unhealthy behavior to healthy behavior and creating a healthy environment in the household. Therefore, health needs to be maintained, maintained and improved by every member of the household and fought for by all parties. The introduction of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in elementary school education is able to maintain, improve and protect the health of each household member from the threat of disease and an environment that is less conducive to healthy living. Washing your hands with soap can kill the virus that causes infection from your hands before the virus infects the body. Apart from that, washing your hands regularly can also reduce the spread of the virus to other people.

Abstract

Vitamin A was the first fat-soluble vitamin to be discovered. This finding states that all retinoids and precursors/provitamin A/carotenoids have biological activity as retinol. Vitamin A plays an important role in children's growth and development. Vitamin A deficiency (KVA) increases the risk of developing infectious diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, pneumonia and even death. Another most serious consequence of vitamin A deficiency (KVA) is night blindness, which is another form of xeropthalmia such as damage to the cornea and blindness. Vitamin A can increase the body's resistance to infectious diseases such as measles, diarrhea and ARI and has a very important role in eye health.
