Abstract

Study habit is key to the success of the learning process. The study habit can be obtained when students have the intention to do so. Generally, the intention arises from repeated actions. In the TUTEP training class, the habits of the students during the training program can determine the test result. Thus, this study aims to examine the effect of study habits among the students or trainees on increasing their TUTEP scores. A descriptive-correlation method was used to describe the positive day-to-day habits that the trainees did to increase their TUTEP scores. The study involved respondents who attended the TUTEP training class and obtained a significant improvement in their TUTEP score before and after participating in the training. The main instrument in this study was the Palsane and Sharma Study Habit Inventory (Looyeh et al., 2017). The instrument has eight sub-scales of study habits. The results indicated that the significant test obtained was a ttest value of 0.738, where the ttest value was greater than ttable (0.738 0.254). In other words, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between study habits and increased TUTEP scores of the trainees. Furthermore, based on the highest average value (mean) of study habits which was obtained from respondents, three indicators yielded the highest scores, namely the exam (4.66), the health (4.59), and the time management indicators (4.36).

Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to determine whether the implementation of the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) model using the Kahoot application in sociology learning can increase the learning activeness of class X H students at SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak. This research uses Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of 2 cycles. Each PTK cycle is carried out through systematic stages such as planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques applied in this study were in-depth observation techniques using student learning activeness observation sheets and documentation. Indicators of learning activeness observed include: (1) listening to the material explained by the teacher, (2) the ability to ask questions, (3) answer questions, (4) participation in group discussions, (5) making notes summarizing the subject matter, (6) the ability to express opinions, and (7) the ability to present the results of group discussions (presentations) or provide responses to groups that make presentations. The number of students involved in this study was 36 people. The results prove that there is an increase in student learning activeness from cycle 1 to cycle 2 with an average of 73.71% in cycle I and 87.30% in cycle II. The application of the STAD model by utilizing the Kahoot application has proven effective in increasing the activeness of students in learning Sociology in class. Through learning with heterogeneous group members, learners are encouraged to help each other understand the material and discuss actively. Then, Kahoot's interactive features, such as giving points and rankings, triggered learners' enthusiasm in answering quizzes and competing healthily to get the best score. This fun and interesting learning atmosphere is able to increase learners' active participation during the Sociology learning process.

Abstract

This article presents a community service program conducted at SMAN 1 Sajingan Besar, a high school located near the Indonesia–Malaysia border. The program aimed to improve students’ interest and skills in reading English by introducing an easy and enjoyable reading approach. Over two days, students learned the difference between reading for understanding and reading for details, and were trained to use an online tool called MReader to track their reading progress. The program received enthusiastic responses, especially during quiz games and hands-on practice sessions. Students not only became more motivated to read but also learned how to use digital tools in their English learning. The activity helped create a fun and competitive learning environment and gave students practical experience in choosing and completing English books. The program showed that using technology in learning can increase student interest and reading habits. For lasting impact, regular training, better internet access, and more book options are recommended. This program has the potential to become a long-term solution to support literacy in remote border areas.

Abstract

With the mushrooming popularity of extensive reading in language classrooms, teachers might be unaware that students are not only gaining linguistic inputs from their reading but also those related to non-linguistic ones, such as moral values. Frankly speaking, some values may suit their culture, but others may not. This research then aimed to investigate these non-linguistic inputs the students obtained when participating in the Extensive Reading ER program. This is important amid the domination of Western culture in stories that students mostly use. This research tried to identify the types of moral values students attained after attending a one-semester ER program. Also, it questioned if these values fit with the culture and place where they lived. Using the diary method, this research collected students’ post-reading journals over one academic semester. The journals should be filled in every time the students finish reading. Involving 30 students as participants, the research generated 397 entries, 13 on average. The data were analyzed by classifying the students’ responses into five principles of moral values proposed by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. This research found that most moral values in the ER program aligned with those in Indonesia, despite a few differences. It also provided two most frequent moral values that were surprisingly close to Western culture. This research shared some interesting discussion, including the possible reasons why these two categories have a strong domination, outperforming other categories. Finally, the research also provides important notes regarding what teachers should do and key suggestions for future research.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak penggunaan media sosial terhadap perubahan perilaku ibu rumah tangga di Desa Mekar Baru Kabupaten Bengkayang. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang   digunakan dalam artikel ini yaitu  observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya dampak positif dan dampak negatif penggunaan media sosial terhadapp perubahan perilaku ibu rumah tangga di Desa Mekar Baru Kabupaten Bengkayang. Dampak positif dari penggunaan media sosial tersebut yaitu yang seperti meningkatkan keterampilan para ibu rumah tangga di Desa dengan membuat usaha online yang dapat meningkatkan perekonomian keluarganya, memperluas jaringan pertemanan dalam hal yang bersifat positif, sebagai media komunikasi untuk menjalin silaturahmi dan sebagai sumber informasi bagi ibu rumah tangga. Disisi lain ada pula dampak negatif yang muncul seperti berkurangnya aktivitas positif, malas dalam berkomunikasi terutama dengan keluarga sendiri, menimbulkan kecanduan dan timbulnya sikap egois hingga tidak perduli dengan lingkungan sekitarnya.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui rangkaian prosesi dari prosesi awal, prosesi inti, dan prosesi akhir dari ritual Ngumpan Iso Beliong sebelum menanam padi pada Etnis Dayak Taman di Dusun Jopo, Desa Cupang Gading, Kecamatan Sekadau Hulu. Ritual Ngumpan Iso Beliong merupakan ritual pemberian sesajen secara simbolis kepada alat-alat pertanian dan benih padi serta bahan pertanian yang dipergunakan untuk aktivitas berladang dan ungkapan pesan yang dilakukan dalam bentuk upacara adat dan dituturkan secara lisan disebut mantra, dan ritual Ngumpan Iso Beliong dilaksanakan satu kali dalam satu tahun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. teknik analisisi data yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan enam informan yaitu satu informan sebagai informan kunci dan lima informan lainnya sebagai informan pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa prosesi awal yaitu madah mantak (pemberitahuan mentah) yang meliputi nyuci kaki manok dan ngelayang bulu manok, ngobo manok, dan bejujong. Prosesi inti yaitu madah mansak (pemberitahuan masak) meliputi ngumpan iso beliong, dan ngumpan tanah ampah. Prosesi akhir meliputi moik upah, makan dan minum bersama.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang paling utama bagi guru-guru adalah berada di zona nyaman dan sulit untuk mengembangkan diri, karena sudah sibuk dengan kegiatan mengajar serta membuat perangkat pembelajaran, oleh sebab itu dengan adanya pelatihan penulisan artikel ilmiah dan dipublikasikan pada jurnal ilmiah agardapat mengembangkan diri tidak hanya pada proses pengajaran saja, tetapi dapat menulis dan dipublikasi pada jurnal nasional, proses kegiatannya meliputi penyampaian materi, praktek pembuatan artikel, dan praktek mengupload hasil artikel ke jurnal, adapun hasil yang didapat bahwa para peserta sudah sebagianbesar paham dengan tahapan untuk mengupload hasil artikel ilmiah dan pelaksanaannya berjalan dengan lancar serta tidak ada kendala yang berarti.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between English proficiency levels and video genre preferences in the Extensive Viewing (EV) program. The research aimed to understand how students' language abilities influence their choice of video content, focusing on genres such as Folklore, Educational Video/Learning, Comedy, Drama Series, and General Knowledge/Science. The study involved 30 undergraduate students, and the data were collected through a post-program survey and viewing logs from the Canvas platform. A Chi-Square test was conducted to to determine the statistical significance of the relationship between genre preference and English proficiency. The results reveal that students with lower English proficiency tend to favor simpler genres, such as Comedy, which are easier to understand, while students with higher proficiency prefer more complex genres like Drama Series and General Knowledge/Science. The Chi-Square test confirmed a significant relationship between language proficiency and genre choice (p < 0.05). This suggests that video content should be selected based on students’ language abilities to enhance comprehension and engagement. The study supports the theory of comprehensible input and differentiated instruction, highlighting the importance of tailoring materials to match students' proficiency levels. The results have important implications for designing effective language learning programs, ensuring that the content is both accessible and challenging based on students' individual needs. Further research with a larger sample and broader genre selection is recommended to deepen the understanding of students' viewing preferences.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk penerapan HOTS dalam pembelajaran Sosiologi di kelas XI IIS 1 SMA Negeri 11 Pontianak. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan bentuk penelitian deskriptif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah satu orang guru sosiologi dan beberapa murid dikelas XI IIS 1 SMA Negeri 11 Pontianak. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan HOTS dalam proses belajar mengajar di susun sesuai RPP dan terdapat didalamnya kegiatan awal, kegiatan inti, dan kegiatan akhir. Hasil penerapan dengan keterampilan berpikir HOTS dalam pembelajaran menyesuaikan dengan hasil yang diharapkan dalam kemampuan berpikir dengan HOTS yakni peserta didik mendapati kemampuan berpikir secara C4, C5, C6 yaitu kemampuan menganalisis, mengevaluasi, dan mencipta. Hasil signifikan terkait peningkatan yang berarti dalam pengetahuan peserta didik dan pencapaian yang berarti terkait pengetahuan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Hasil signifikan mengarah pada pengetahuan, pemahaman, dan penilaian berupa nilai hasil belajar  peserta didik pada materi masalah sosial dalam mata pelajaran sosiologi.

Abstract

This research aims to increase teacher creativity and competence through interactive learning media using the Wordwall application at SD Negeri 1 Segedong. The background of this research is the importance of the role of teachers in delivering quality learning to achieve educational progress. Analysis of the situation shows that technological developments affect learning methods that must be adapted to the needs of the times. The problem faced is the lack of creativity in the learning process which can affect students' interest in learning. The proposed solution is training in the use of the Wordwall application to create interactive and engaging learning. The results showed that the use of the Wordwall application can increase teacher creativity and student learning interest. In conclusion, the implementation of interactive learning media through Wordwall can make a positive contribution to improving the quality of learning in schools.
