Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) technology is being developed as an innovative material in dentistry. The depletion of fossil resources is a critical issue for current fiber composite resins. Cocos nucifera L. coconut fiber (coir) has high potential to replace synthetic fiber reinforcement as a new material to be developed. The aim of the study was to determine the toxicity of coir cellulose fiber composites as a base material. Methods: This was a post-test only control group experimental study. Cellulose from coir was synthesized using organosolvent, bleached with peroxide in alkaline solution, and nucleated with absolute ethanol. GT1 fibroblast cell viability test was conducted for cellulose fibers and then coir cellulose composites were made with a weight fraction of 70% cellulose fiber filler, and 30% BisGMA, TEGDMA and DGEBA matrix. Furthermore, cellulose coir composites were tested for toxicity from the results of composite immersion in artificial saliva for 7, 14, and 21 days using BHK-21 fibroblast cells. Results: The results of the Post Hoc LSD test concluded that the P-21 group had a significant difference between the K.Sel, P-7, P-14 treatment groups with a value of p<0.05.The safest dose of coir cellulose fiber is 12.5mg/ml; the results of the Kruskal-wallis test of the composite soaking time have significant differences between groups with a significance value of p<0.05 (p=0.001). Conclusion: Coir cellulose fiber is non-toxic so it can be a composite filler as one of the prerequisites to be a novelty base candidate in dental composite materials.KEY WORDS: coir, composite, toxicity, dental baseSitotoksisitas komposit serat selulosa sabut kelapa sebagai kandidat novelty basis pada material kedokteran gigi: Studi eksperimentalABSTRAKPendahuluan: Teknologi Fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) sedang dikembangkan sebagai bahan inovatif dalam kedokteran gigi. Abstract

Abstract

School health program is a program of preventive promotional activities in the field of dentistry using the method “trainer of trainer” or abbreviated as ToT. The program is organized by the Indonesian Association of Dentists (PDGI) together with dental faculties across Indonesia as trainers and multinational company as facilitator. The goal of this program is to create a generation of a nation that will be free of tooth cavities by 2030. Teachers and parents of students with special needs are the target audience for this training, enabling them to carry out morning and night toothbrushing activities for good dental and oral health. ToT's activities include two things: giving advice to teachers and students' parents and brushing their teeth in the morning and evening for 21 days. The problem is that children with special needs do not have the same abilities as other children in terms of receiving information, responding to teaching, and applying what has been taught. Low levels of independence and varying levels of learning difficulties are challenges for trainees. Special methods in teaching morning and night toothbrush activities should be applied well to both teachers and parents of students with special needs, such as how to brush their teeth, the habits of brushing the teeth properly, the use of special brushes, and tips and tricks that can be implemented by the teacher and parents so that children with special requirements can run the program.

Abstract

Dental and oral health in Indonesia is still a health problem that needs attention. The most concerning thing is that as many as 93% of school-age children experience dental and mouth problems. This can be caused by a lack of knowledge and awareness of dental hygiene. One of the efforts made to increase knowledge and awareness of dental hygiene is by holding an educational activity called the "School Health Program". This activity was carried out in several schools, one of which was TK ITS. This activity began with the Training of Trainer Program given by dentists to teacher cadres and parents of students/students/students about the benefits of good oral hygiene and how to brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Dentists provide educational materials using power point media and educational videos through the zoom application. There were 5 cadres consisting of 2 teachers and 3 guardians of students who attended this activity. After that, the teacher cadres and parents of the students/students disseminate information to other parents of students/students so that they can become mentors to their children to apply good and correct behavior of brushing their teeth twice a day for 21 days with the method recorded on the given calendar. The hope is that after this program ends, students at ITS Kindergarten have the behavior of maintaining oral hygiene by brushing their teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Streptococcus mutans in the most frequent microbiota that causes pulp necrosis because of caries. The microorganism that is colonized and embedded in the biofilm matrix is resistant to antimicrobials compared to planktonic cells. Root canal sterilization materials must have good biocompatibility with tissues. Nannochloropsis oculata is an algae that contains various compounds such as terpenoids, alkaloids, and flavonoids that have potential as antibacterial and antioxidant and can be used as alternative to root canal sterilization. Method: This research was true experimental laboratory research with post-test only control group design. The antibacterial potential of Nannochloropsis oculata was tested using the biofilm method, divided into 5 groups. The control group was: K- (aquadest), K+ (calcium hydroxide), and the treatment group was given Nannochloropsis oculata: P1 (0.625%), P2 (1.25%), and P3 (2.5 %). Congo Red method test was to determine the formation of biofilm that shows black strains on agar. While biofilm test with Microtiter Plate Assay to measure the value of biofilm that were inhibited in Optical Density (OD) value in the ELISA Reader. The lower the value, the more biofilm inhibited, with OD value, inhibition percentage could counted Result: The result of all treatment groups were increasing in percentage inhibition value shows inhibition in biofilm growth (p <0.05). Conclusion: Nannochloropsis oculata had an antibacterial effect on the biofilm of Streptococcus mutans

Abstract

The phenomenon of online loans (commonly known as pinjol) in Indonesia has grown rapidly in line with the advancement of digital technology. Easy access, fast disbursement processes, and the promotion of low interest rates have made pinjol highly attractive to the public, especially among the middle-class. However, behind this convenience lie various serious problems that affect users’ mental health. This study aims to analyze the risks of pinjol usage on the mental health of the middle-class community, particularly in the Parung Panjang and Tenjo Districts of Bogor Regency. The research method employed a qualitative approach supported by quantitative data. The findings show that the middle class is vulnerable to pinjol entrapment, even though they are generally considered to have better access to formal financial institutions. From a theoretical perspective, this research offers novelty by applying Lazarus and Folkman’s (1984) stress theory to the phenomenon of digital finance, thereby enriching perspectives on how primary and secondary appraisals and coping strategies shape the psychological pressure caused by pinjol. Field findings that highlight the dominance of emotion-focused coping strategies (resignation, anxiety, and avoidance) provide new contributions to the literature, as they reveal that the burden of pinjol not only creates economic problems but also reinforces a recurring cycle of stress without any long-term solutions. Therefore, stronger financial literacy, psychological support, and strict government regulations are urgently needed to prevent the harmful impacts of pinjol on Indonesia’s middle-class society.
