Abstract

Abstract: The digital era has transformed the learning paradigm in vocational high schools, particularly in the field of automotive engineering. Social media has now become an integral part of students' lives, which can affect their motivation and academic achievement. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media use on learning motivation and academic achievement of automotive engineering students in vocational high schools. Quantitative research with a causal-comparative design was conducted on 71 grade XI Light Vehicle Engineering students at SMKN 1 Padang. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and academic grade documentation. Data analysis used MANOVA with Hotelling's Trace test statistics to test simultaneous effects. The results showed that social media had a positive and significant effect on students' learning motivation (F = 31.004, p < 0.05), but did not significantly affect their academic achievement (F = 0.610, p > 0.05). Simultaneously, social media use did not show a significant effect on the combination of learning motivation and academic achievement (Hotelling's Trace = 8.880; F = 1.421; p = 0.223). While social media can increase automotive engineering students' motivation to learn, its impact on academic achievement is less than optimal. A more targeted strategy for utilizing social media and integrating it with the curriculum is needed to maximize its potential in supporting automotive engineering learning.Keywords: Social Media, Learning Motivation, Academic Achievement, Automotive Engineering, Vocational Education.

Abstract

Inquiry-based learning is an approach that emphasizes students’ active involvement in the learning process through inquiry and exploration. In Vocational High Schools (SMK), there is an urgent need to improve students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills to harmonize with the demands of the world of work. However, the effectiveness of the implementation of inquiry learning in vocational schools is still diverse and requires a comprehensive study. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of inquiry learning in vocational schools through a meta-analysis approach to the results of previous research. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar with the keywords “inquiry learning,” “inquiry learning,” “vocational schools,” and “learning outcomes” in the 2019-2024 publications. Inclusion criteria include experimental research with control groups, vocational school student subjects, and complete post-test data. The selection process resulted in 30 studies that met the criteria. The extracted data included the mean and standard deviation post-test of both groups. The analysis uses Cohen’s effect size formula to calculate the impact of inquiry learning. The results showed an effect size of 1.0, which indicated a significant influence of inquiry learning on the learning achievement of vocational school students, especially in understanding concepts and practical skills. However, implementation challenges include limited time, resources, and teacher readiness. It is concluded that inquiry learning is efficacious in improving the learning outcomes of vocational students but requires an implementation strategy that considers contextual factors.

Abstract

Pendidikan sistem ganda di SMK dilakukan untuk membantu lulusan sekolah menengah kejuruan menjadi lebih siap kerja dengan meningkatkan kesadaran mereka akan nilai pelatihan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kontribusi Praktik Kerja Industri Terhadap kesiapan kerja siswa. Metode penelitian dilakuakan dengan pendekatan eksplorasi kuantitatif dengan metodologi kuantitatif tersendiri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kontribusi prakerin terhadap kesiapan kerja siswa berbanding lurus berdasarkan data kependudukan (N=76), yang menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi prakerin maka akan mendongkrak kesiapan kerja siswa dan sebaliknya. Berdasarkan model regresi ini, variable kesiapan kerja siswa Y diperkirakan akan meningkat sebesar 0,701 satuan setiap kenaikan satuan X atau skor Prakerin. Dengan menggunakan hasil uji t ditentukan bahwa p (0,000 < 0,05) lebih kecil atau sama dengan 7,969 untuk v hitung, dan nilai ini lebih besar dari 1,665 untuk v tabel. Disimpulkan  Prakerin secara signifikan meningkatkan persiapan siswa memasuki dunia kerja. Dual system education in vocational high schools is carried out to help vocational high school graduates become more work-ready by increasing their awareness of the value of training. Given the problem, this research uses a quantitative exploration approach with its own quantitative methodology. The contribution of internship to students' work readiness is directly proportional based on population data (N = 76), which shows that the higher the internship, the higher the students' work readiness and vice versa. Based on this regression model, the student work readiness variable Y is estimated to increase by 0.701 units for each increase in x or the internship score. Using the t-test results, it is determined that p (0.000 <0.05) is less than or equal to 7.969 for v table, and this value is greater than 1.665 for v table. It is concluded that internship significantly improves students' preparation to enter the workforce.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menerapkan efektivitas sosialisasi K3 dan Kedisiplinan dalam praktek di SMK PGRI 2 Lahat. dalam tiga tahap yaitu pretest–sosialisai–posttest.penelitian ini, (1) mendeskripsikan K3 dalam pelaksaan praktek di  program keahlian teknik kendaraan ringan siswa kelas X SMK PGRI 2 Lahat sebelum menerapkan efektivitas  Sosialisasi K3, (2) mendeskripsikan K3 dalam pelaksaan praktek di  program keahlian teknik kendaraan ringan siswa kelas X SMK PGRI 2  Lahat setelah menerapkan efektivitas  Sosialisasi K3, (3) menjelaskan pengaruh efektivitas  Sosialisasi K3 siswa kelas X SMK PGRI 2 Lahat Pretest dan posttest. Metode penelitian deskriptif analisis. Hasil sosialisasi penelitian ini, Pertama sebelum/pretest, sosialisasi K3 berada pada kualifikasi Hampir cukup dengan rata-rata nilai 45,6172. Kedua, setelah/posttest berada pada kualifikasi Baik Sekali (BS) rata-rata 90,4891. Ketiga, uji-t hipotesis alternatif (H1) diterima pada taraf signifikan 95% dan t-hitung(1,624 > 0,147).   This study applies the effectiveness of K3 socialization and Discipline in practice at SMK PGRI 2 Lahat. three stages pretest–socialization–posttest.  this study are, (1) to describe K3 in the implementation of practice in the light vehicle engineering expertise program of class X students of SMK PGRI 2 Lahat before implementing the effectiveness of K3 Socialization,(2) to describe K3 in the implementation practice in the vehicle engineering expertise program for students class X SMK PGRI 2 Lahat after implementing the effectiveness of K3 Socialization, (3) the effect of the effectiveness of K3 Socialization for students class X of SMK PGRI 2 Lahat Pretest and posttest. method descriptive analysis. Resultst this research socialization, First, before/pretest conducting K3 socialization are at the qualification Almost enough with an average score of 45.6172. Second, after/posttest is at an average 90.4891 Good (BS) qualifications. Third, the alternative hypothesis (H1) t-test is accepted at a significant level 95% and t-count (1.624 > 0.147).

Abstract

SMK memiliki peran dalam peningkatan kecerdasan, pengetahuan, kepribadian, akhlak mulia, dan keterampilan sebagai bekal untuk hidup mandiri dan siap kerja. Tamatan SMK diharapkan mempunyai kompetensi yang baik agar siap pakai dan terampil, sehingga memudahkan industri untuk medapatkan tenaga kerja sesuai posisi yang kebutuhan. Tetapi berdasarkan data BPS pada Agustus 2020, TPT SMK adalah 8,49% dan tertinggi dibandingkan jenjang pendidikan lainnya. Masalah ini terjadi karena belum selarasnya antara kompetensi tamatan SMK dengan kebutuhan industri. Penyelarasan kompetensi tamatan SMK terhadap kebutuhan industri tergantung pada sumber daya serta sarana/prasarana yang dimiliki SMK. Permasalahannya sarana/prasarana praktik yang dimiliki SMK masih sedikit dan kondisinya kurang memadai. Tamatan SMK Jurusan Teknik Sepeda Motor seharusnya memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan teknologi programmed fuel injection sepeda motor. Maka kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi siswa SMK melalui rancang bangun simulator dan pelatihan teknologi programmed fuel injection sepeda motor. Berdasarkan evaluasi pelaksanaan kegiatan, terdapat peningkatan kompetensi siswa tentang teknologi programmed fuel injection sepeda motor, sehingga diharapkan kualitas tamatan SMK Jurusan Teknik Sepeda Motor semakin baik dan dapat menurunkan TPT tamatan SMK.

Abstract

The increase in the number of motor vehicles in Indonesia has a significant impact on increasing exhaust emissions that contribute to air pollution. One way to reduce these emissions is through optimizing the combustion process by using variable spark plugs and remapping the ECU (Electronic Control Unit). This study aims to analyze the effect of the use of standard, platinum, and iridium spark plugs, as well as ECU remap at 5° and 10° ignition angles on the exhaust emissions of Vario 125 cc motorcycles. The research method used is an experiment with a pre-test and post-test research design. The test was carried out on three spark plug variations (standard, platinum and iridium) with ignition at angles of 5° and 10°. The testing process involves measuring exhaust emissions, specifically carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC), at four engine rev levels (rpm) of 1500, 2000, 2500, and 3000. The data was obtained using a gas analyzer and analyzed using mean statistics and percentage of change. The results showed that the use of platinum and iridium spark plugs significantly reduced CO and HC emissions compared to standard spark plugs. At 10° ignition with an iridium spark plug, the largest difference in CO was recorded at 2500 rpm with 23.12%, while the highest HC difference was at 2000 rpm with 37.67%. Platinum spark plugs also provide quite good results with consistent reductions in CO and HC emissions. Remap ECUs with an ignition angle of 10° have proven to be more effective in reducing exhaust emissions compared to 5° ignition.

Abstract

Studi penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat bagaimana penambahan zat aditif minyak serai wangi dan minyak cengkeh mempengaruhi emisi gas buang dari sepeda motor Honda Beat FI tahun 2019. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan penambahan zat aditif minyak serai wangi dan minyak cengkeh terhadap emisi gas buang. Jenis penelitian ini disebut juga sebagai penelitian eksperimen. Sepeda motor Honda Beat FI 2019 adalah objek penelitian ini. Berdasarkan penelitian pada sepeda motor Honda Beat FI tahun 2019, bahwa hasil perhitungan T test untuk emisi gas buang nilai T hitung = 6,276 sedangkan T tabel = 2,776, berarti t hitung > t tabel, sehingga dengan menambahkan bahan tambahan seperti minyak serai wangi dan minyak cengkeh terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dengan penambahan minyak sereh wangi 10 % dibandingkan dengan penambahan minyak cengkeh 15 %. This research was conducted to analyze the comparison of the addition of citronella oil additives and clove oil to exhaust emissions produced by Honda Beat FI motorbikes in 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the addition of citronella oil additives and clove oil to exhaust emissions. This type of research is also known as experimental research. The object of this research is the 2019 Honda Beat FI motorcycle. Based on the results of research conducted on Honda Beat FI motorcycles in 2019, that the results of the T test calculation for exhaust emissions the value of T count = 6.276 while T table = 2.776, means t count> t table, so that with the addition of citronella oil additives and clove oil there is a significant difference with the addition of 10% citronella oil compared to the addition of 15% clove oil.

Abstract

Penelitian dilatar belakangi kurangnya media pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran pemeliharaan kelistrikan kendaraan ringan di SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi. Tujuan penelitian merancang media pembelajaran berupa simulator sistem pengisian IC Regulator yang digunakan oleh guru dan siswa dalam proses belajar. Penelitian ini memakai metode penelitian dan pengembangan model (4-D). Hasil Penelitian dilihat dari hasil uji validitas dan pratikalitas yang diperoleh dari ahli dan responden. Berdasarkan hasil uji validitas dari ahli media tingkat pencapaian skor sebesar 93% pada kategori “sangat valid. Ahli materi 91% pada kategori “sangat valid. Hasil uji praktikalitas oleh guru didapatkan tingkat pencapaian skor 94% pada kategori “sangat praktis” dan dari siswa 88% pada kategori “praktis”. Disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran simulator sistem pengisian IC Regulator yang telah dibuat pada kategori sangat valid dan praktis. This research was motivated by the lack of learning media on the subject of light vehicle electrical maintenance at SMK Negeri 1 Bukittinggi. The aim of the research is to design learning media in the form of an IC Regulator charging system simulator that is used by teachers and students in the learning process. This research uses research and model development methods (4-D). The research results were seen from the results of validity and practicality tests obtained from experts and respondents. Based on the results of media expert validity tests, the score achievement level was 93% in the "very valid" category. Material experts 91% in the "very valid" category. The results of the practicality test carried out by the teacher showed an achievement level of 94% in the "very practical" category and 88% of students in the "practical" category. It was concluded that the IC Regulator charging system simulator learning media that had been created was in the very valid and practical category.

Abstract

The research aims to describe the types of jobs in the automotive sector and record jobs entered by automotive departement engineering graduates. Research is a type of qualitative descriptive, the data used is in the form of qualitative data from interviews, field observations, document analysis, and survey results. The research sample was 93 respondents, 69 respondents used a questionnaire, and 24 respondents spread over 13 companies were conducted using interview and observation techniques. The results of the study show that there are several types of jobs that graduates can enter and pursue as well as careers, into four career fields, namely: technician, sales marketing, training instructor, and teacher. For a career in mechanics, the career paths are: mechanic, mechanic team leader, mechanic chief, service advisor, workshop head, and service manager. Career paths in sales marketing, namely: sales during training, sales marketing 1 (s1), sales marketing 2 (s2), sales marketing 3 (s3), sales supervisor, marketing manager , and branch head. Career paths in the field of instructor training, namely: training instructor, head instructor, instructor manager, head of the HRD division, and HRD manager. Career paths as a teacher, namely: teachers, heads of workshop, heads of departments, vice principals, school principals, school supervisors, and heads of the education sector. In addition to the four fields of work and career paths, there are several other types of work, such as: heavy equipment operator, aircraft maintenance, few are self employed in the automotive sector (car repair, car buying and selling, car rental business).

Abstract

This research is based on the results of a preliminary study which found the problem that learning was not optimal. The aim of the research is to develop the WBL-TEFA Learning Model Learning Module as an effort to improve valid, practical, and effective automotive vocational student academic achievement skills and task skills. The research method is Research and Development using the Borg & Gall development procedure. After implementing the WBL-TEFA Learning Module, students can build knowledge inductively and deductively, as well as learning experiences in one-way interaction, personal interaction and multi-way learning interaction. The results of this research generally produce a learning module design consisting of covers, prefaces, table of contents, module position maps in learning, glossary, pre-learning, learning, evaluation, and closing. Learning Module The WBL-TEFA Learning Model is statistically valid and practical. Whereas the average Aiken's V value obtained is 0.941, so that the contents of the Learning Module can be declared in the valid category. The WBL-TEFA Learning Module was stated to be very practical, this was shown from the results of the practicality assessment of the average lecturer response of 91.29% and student response of 89.60% in the "Very practical" category.
