Abstract

This research is based on the suboptimal fine motor skills of children in activities involving eye and hand coordination, such as sticking, cutting, and arranging objects. This study aims to improve children's fine motor skills through collage activities using fish scales in early childhood at Asyifa Kindergarten, Seberang Musi District, Kepahiang Regency. The study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with the model from Kemmis and Mc Taggart which is implemented in two cycles. The research subjects are children aged 5-6 years at Asyifa Kindergarten, totaling 10 children. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, documentation, and assessment of children's performance. Data analysis is carried out descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively. Before the study was conducted, there was only 1 child who was at the BSH value, after the study, the child's fine motor skills were at 40% because they had not reached the minimum completeness value, so the study was continued with cycle 2. After cycle 2, the child's fine motor skills increased to 80% in the second action, so the study was stopped because they had reached the minimum completeness value. This study concludes that fish scale collages can significantly improve children's fine motor skills, concentration, and interest in learning through engaging media utilizing natural materials from the surrounding environment. Abstract

The background of this research is the low cognitive ability of Group B children at Al Fikri Kindergarten, North Bengkulu, particularly in recognizing the concept of number symbols. This study aims to improve children's ability to recognize number symbols from 1 to 10 through the implementation of constructive play utilizing waste materials, specifically plastic bottle caps. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR), adapting Kurt Lewin's model. The study was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle comprising the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were 14 students of Group B (8 boys and 6 girls) aged 5–6 years at Al Fikri Kindergarten in Tebat Pacur Village, North Bengkulu Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through observations using checklist sheets, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using qualitative-reflective and descriptive-quantitative methods to determine the percentage of children's classical mastery. The results showed a constant and significant increase in children's cognitive abilities in each cycle. In the initial condition (Pre-Cycle), the average percentage of classical mastery for children achieving the minimum criteria of Developing as Expected (BSH) was only 19.1%. After the constructive play intervention was implemented, the children's classical mastery increased to 42.9% in Cycle I, and jumped drastically to reach 88.1% at the end of Cycle II. This final achievement successfully exceeded the predetermined classical success indicator of ≥ 75%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between family environment stimulation (the role of parents) and the ability to recognize number symbols in children aged 4–5 years at Al-Fikri Kindergarten, North Bengkulu. This type of research is non-experimental with a quantitative approach using the correlational method. The research subjects consisted of 14 students (8 boys and 6 girls) along with their parents at Al-Fikri Kindergarten, Tebat Pacur Village, North Bengkulu Regency. Data collection techniques utilized a closed-ended questionnaire with a Likert scale to measure the role of parents (variable X) and a performance observation sheet to measure children's ability to recognize number symbols (variable Y). The data were statistically analyzed using a correlation test. This was evidenced by a correlation coefficient value (rₛ) of 0.685 (p = 0.008 < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination value (rₛ) of 0.469. This proves a positive and significant relationship in the strong category, where family environment stimulation contributes to explaining 46.9% of the variation in the ability to recognize number symbols among Group B children at Al-Fikri Kindergarten, North Bengkulu.

Abstract

To enhance children’s basic skills—particularly cognitive skills—AUD education is essential. When children aged five to six enter elementary school, understanding number concepts becomes one of the most important thinking skills. Number sense encompasses an understanding of one-to-one correspondences, number symbols, and quantity. However, the teaching of number concepts in the classroom is still dominated by static, conventional teaching materials, particularly at the PGRI Bukit Berlian Kindergarten in North Bengkulu. This results in children being less engaged and interested in learning, and they struggle to grasp abstract number concepts. An interactive flat panel (IFP) is a touchscreen with numerous features that allow students and educators to interact with one another. Through activities such as counting and matching, the IFP’s touch-and-drag features help children understand number concepts.

Abstract

The speaking ability of Group B children at Harapan PKK Kindergarten, Kota Agung Village, North Bengkulu, had not developed optimally. Most children struggled to express ideas in simple sentences, lacked confidence speaking in front of teachers and peers, and tended to respond with a single word. This study aimed to improve the speaking ability of Group B children through disaster-themed serial picture media reflecting children's everyday experiences. The study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting across two cycles. The subjects were 10 Group B children selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected through observation and documentation using a rubric covering three indicators—speaking courage, speaking fluency, and the ability to retell events sequentially according to the pictures—then analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed a consistent improvement, from 32.5% in the baseline observation (emerging category) to 63.3% in Cycle I (developing as expected) and 80% in Cycle II (developing very well). The largest gains occurred in speaking fluency and retelling ability. The study concludes that disaster-themed serial picture media effectively improves Group B children's speaking ability while introducing basic disaster-related knowledge from an early age, offering a contextual learning media alternative for early childhood educators in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

Children’s independence is an essential developmental aspect of early childhood education because it reflects their ability to manage themselves, complete simple tasks, and assume responsibilities appropriate to their developmental stage. This study aims to examine the relationship between working parents’ parenting patterns and children’s independence in kindergartens in Nagari Lubuk Malako, Sangir Jujuan District, South Solok Regency. A quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational method was employed. The population comprised 112 parents of kindergarten children from TK Annur Koto Tuo Lubuk Malako, TK Raudhatul Ilmi Koto Gadang, and TK Kasih Bunda, with 53 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire based on indicators of parenting patterns and children’s independence and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson product–moment correlation with SPSS. The findings indicate a relationship between working parents’ parenting patterns and children’s independence. The R² value of 0.206 shows that parenting patterns accounted for 20.6% of the variance in children’s independence, while the remaining 79.4% was influenced by other factors. This study concludes that consistent, communicative, and democratic parenting plays an important role in supporting children’s independence. These findings contribute to early childhood education by emphasizing the relevance of parenting quality in fostering children’s autonomy and responsibility during the kindergarten stage.
